  • I've always wanted to see nomads and how they live. These guys live in the mountains of Kazakhstan. 3hr away from Almaty. Let's drive some cattle, lets eat some local food and lets milk some cows!

The people of Kazakhstan are amazing, kind, intelligent, beautiful. The country is beautiful. My son is adopted from Pavlodar. We spent about 6 weeks there then 3 weeks in Almaty. We had a translator and guide. I loved my time there and anxious to go back with my son now that he's grown. All he has to do is say the word.

Unfortunately we can't feel that fresh and beautiful flavour in that area. I'm from Kazakhstan and sometimes I travel around my country on a car. And the flavour of the grass and flowers that is carried by light cool fresh wind is so adorable. You can't imagine it until you really feel it. And night sky. I traveld around the world in Europe, US and Asia but there's no place where I saw such amount of stars in the sky. I swear. Sky at night in Kazakhstan steppe was the best view in my life by today. I'm a modern urban person, but I so miss those days when I travel around the homeland on a car.

Lol, I have a lot in common with that Kazakh lady. Though not a permanent nomad per se. I am an Arab Bedouin after all, and do get back to the desert, as much as possible. Especially the empty quarter in winter. Plus, I’m 34, and my eldest son is 15. Ten years from now, I’ll be 44, and he’ll be 25, with kids of his own. So, I’ll probably be a grandpa in four years or five. Definitely before I turn 40, that’s for sure lol 😂 it’s still a constant shock to my 81 soon-to-be 82 year old Dutch Godmother, whose gone through two childless marriages of her own, during her long life. Whenever we’re in the Netherlands, people assume my two sons, are my younger siblings 😅, never my kids.

I once read a comparison of Bedouins and nomadic Kazakhs by a Russian traveler of 19th century and he indeed found a lot common between them. Kazakhs are not permanent nomads tbf and it's very rare thing to see nomadic folks like this family. I'd say 99.5 % of people are settled down.

When you were in states,. damn should have looked me up.. coulda took you to some native american places,.. where today they are still like this. that is how i grew up until we got running water electricity. For a long time we just had a outhouse. my grandfather brought the first saw mill into this part of the country. and he with his neighbors and my uncles built the houses we stayed in. In Dewey county he had the largest livestock ranch ever 150 thousand acres... until it got broken up and taken by the government. Can't have a native indian with a big ranch now can we. Thanks for sharing Slava love when you and Lena are on these trips. take care be safe it is what life is about!

@@EndlessEnergy24 YES my neice has 5 of them. I slept in her bed one night and one of the dogs came in jumped in the bed and suddenly realized i wasnt Lea. He jumped up gave me a dirty look, jumped off the bed, gave me another dirty look, started down the hall looked over his shoulder...yep another dirty look. He went down the hall, came back and looked again! I am tip toeing behind him in the dark whispering, "Im sorry Oggie! Come back, you can sleep with me!" Oh no! I had been told off good and proper! Central Asian shepard/Alabai/Töbet, whatever people call it, they are pretty big. As far as I know they are not aggressive to other people but they only one person, the owner, as their superior one. They are really good against the wolves

I sadly can't recommend anything, but I still hope you'll be able to learn our language! :) Аман болыңыз! (Wishing you good health!)

A lot to think about in the woman's description of how life was "simpler, easier" during Soviet times. Apparently her family was not forcibly moved and made to farm the land. It highlights how strongly people's perspectives are shaped by their personal experience, which can completely cancel out the awareness or understanding of the larger events going on around them.

I was born and grew up in central Almaty during Soviet times, I was 20 years old when USSR was broken into pieces by Gorbi whom the West applauded and cheered like they are doing now with the President Z; and the dark times of complete chaos/ crime/ poverty/ inequality fell upon us on the 90-ies. Now I live in capitalist Kazakhstan and hate it to see what it has done to my people. No matter what you westerners think of the USSR , I can tell - everything your propaganda machine said against my beautiful country was and still is a huge pack of lies. For majority of people like me, my parents and most people of our age, the best times were Soviet times because we lived there and we know what we are talking about.
The other point I would like to make is- the collective West does NOT have THE moral right to point out to the dark pages of our history and mistakes made! All I want to say is mind your own business and leave us be!
