    Going from coordinator to head coach for a big program like ND is a huge step and a lot of responsibility. I hope he’s successful and fans are patient.

    • @HockeyNationHD
      @HockeyNationHD 2 года назад +8

      Fans should not be patient. The team has gone 44-6 over the past 5 years, returns a ton of talent (this was a rebuilding year), and has good classes coming in. If he can't hit the ground running, whoops, horrible hire. This isn't a rebuild situation. He's inheriting a top 5 program. So if he can't do it, again, whoops horrible unqualified hire. Which is kind of why you don't promote a 35yo who one year ago was d-coordinator at Cincinnati. Esp when you have the opportunity to hire - THE COACH AT CINCINNATI.

    • @imgettingtoooldforthis

      @@HockeyNationHD maybe instead of patient I’d use the word supportive. You support your team and new HC as they navigate a new situation at ND. IMO it is potentially a huge moment for the ND program in terms of youth, energy, and huge boost to recruiting which we all know is the life blood of high level football.

    No one feels that way whose not a Notre Dame fan. They’ve had preferential treatment anyway and wants to feel as if they don’t have to belong to a conference in football. I understand the frustration of losing a coach, but the NCAA rules have made it difficult to stay when signing day is right around the corner. I think it’s best that the decision to leave a program when you’ve made a decision is the right one. Would you want him also recruiting for the next team while preparing for the bowl game or cfp? No you wouldn’t. You guys got a great coach and I wish Marcus Freeman well. That decision allowed them to bring certainty to the table. But I think Brady Q is just looking for a way to motivate the team. So this was something to rally around.

      Yes, that is possible. Head coaching is not like being a DC or an OC for that matter. Basically, the Head Coach coaches the other Coaches, acts as a father figure to the players and their families, represents the university to the mass media and a CEO to the Alumni Association and the NCAA. A good case-in-point is now that Jim Harbaugh has learned that lesson and accepted that role, Michigan is ranked #2 in the nation and may win it all. Hasty probably, but I see Freeman as a coach with a massive upside. If he pans out the way he's expected to he can easily bring Notre Dame to more CFP's and potential national championships simply by his ability to recruit. As said in the video though, the CFP committee was probably going to drop ND in the rankings because of BK's departure, but hiring Freeman and having that continuity in the program is huge. Let's be real, if ND had hired someone like Luke Fickell from Cincinatti, Freeman would've been gone, either to LSU as DC or to another school as HC (probably Cincy). This way we keep him in the program and while it is a risk, I could've easily seen him coming to Notre Dame if he had just a couple years of head coaching experience. That means, even if there are some growing pains, that he should be successful in South Bend.
