I have the free version public beta 18.5 that says it supports exporting HDR video. I’ve followed numerous tutorials and spent hours today and none of the settings encode HDR video. It’s Dolby Vision footage from my iPhone. Any suggestions?
I do export HDR on my computer and you need two things.
On your resolve pahe, go to settings, then color management. Inside the color management menu, choose Davinci YRGB Color managed and then set it to custom mode.
Set the input color space to timeline
Timeline color space to P3-D65 (no monitor on earth supports the full rec.2020 color space)
Output gamma to ST.2084 1000nits
Output color space to rec.2020
Also you should change waveform monitoring mode from 10bit to HDR
If you have a studio version you can use your iphone 12/13/14/15 to monitor your HDR video with an app called DaVinci Monitor if you don't have a TV capable of 1000nits. You'll find a tutorial on how to use it on youtube.
When exporting, use H.265 and make sure it's in Main10 profile. If you export using Main profile it wont show up as HDR.
Also you can right click on each clip and set each indivual clips color space so resolve can transform it for you. iPhone footage uses Rec.2100 HLG so choose that.

Fantastic video. It's very difficult to find clear tutorials about HDR in Davinci Resolve. Would it be possible to create a tutorial about using Dolby Vision in Resolve 17 or 18?

Would this method render hdr and sdr on one single file?
