I love where Hyundai is going. It's amazing how well the brand turned around in a couple years. Before then, no one talked about Hyundai. Now they're everywhere.
I purchased this car about 2 yrs ago-under 100,000 miles...I LOVE THIS CAR SOOO MUCH! To this day most 2019 brand new cars STILL DONT have what this car offers-THE AIR RIDE IS INCREDIBLE!! So soft...you can get a 2011-2012 for VERY reasonable price!!
I was going to buy a Ls460L hybrid this week, but Equus would save me a lot. Instead of paying $101k, I'm paying $60k instead, with more features, and an amazing warranty. It makes so much since!!! I love it!!
very smart of hyundai to use a different badge than normal, avoids some snobbery based on simply seeing a badge and making an unconscious judgement. The front shape looks fantastic!
I think Nobody couldnt even think that Hyundai can step up this far in the car buisness five years ago. I was impressed by the Genesis models, but this Equus impresses me even more.
Omg I always ask myself should I go with my heart which says equus "centennial" or my mind with maserati ghibli and then while watching this video a song was playing which was listen to your heart! After this im definitely buying 2014 equus! This is a message from God, I never wanted to watch a review of the older equus and when I did it happened for a reason
I don't know why everybody is saying this car is gonna fail I've seen like 5 of them already, and this is a vehicle that's in limited release. It's too early to be making assumptions on this cars' success. Most people who are pointing out the negatives about this car are just nit-picking; like complaining about the chrome or not liking the design of the badge which are just personal preferences and not actual flaws.
I want to buy a 2012-2013 Signature for my wife, as of 2015 with the loads of features and the 429 horsepower engine these is a steal compared to spending 30 Grand on a new Honda Accord or similar new midsize or having to settle for a small Mercedes or Audi or Infiniti for the same or more money!
Shrink the trunk, elongate it, and allow both rear seats reclining capabilities. Optional bi-turbo v6 for better mpg, panoramic roofing, and make the fridge optional or relocate it. Otherwise very nice.
Your vids have really changed my mind about the Hyundai brand. I was thinking of purchasing either an audi, acura, or chevy camaro, but I like this car. The genesis is great also. Thanks.
Valve cover gaskets are the only issues on Benz V8 motors. Other than that they're rock solid. Silky smooth and tons of torque is the main reason why I love them.
Found a 2013 Equus Ultimate for sale at a used lot in Nor California for under $16k. Has over 150,000 miles but wished I could get it. Looks very clean despite the mileage.
The depreciation is actually a good thing because in the used car market they're a steal. You can get a CPO S550 for $45k with full service history, AMG package amongst other options and low mileage. I driven several times in a W140 Benz and to date it's the best car I've driven in.
After reading thru a few comments, I have come to the conclusion that people that can not, will not, alot of folks r saying they would not buy this car over a S class of 7 series or LS series, but they can't afford any or either. Regardless of what all think, this car is better than ALOT of cars out there an ya'll don't seem to c that Hyundai has taken stair steps getting to this point with the new Sonata an the Genesis, they didn't jus spring it like VW an the Phaeton
This looks superb. It does need some more little refinement of the center console but at this price it's a steal compared to the venerable competition.
Curious why a front-view camera would be needed while driving :-)...very good review Kyle! One of your best, detailed and informative and great camera work...all you need to do now is review the driving dynamics of the cars you test...
The frt camera only shows when activated and then is only displayed when you press the brakes and speed is down to around 5 mph.. Also turns off immediately when you take your foot off the brakes. Helps with forward parking and turning to see the curves.
Very nice vehicle, good value in this segment. I applaud Hyundai's work. I do have one question, when the right side rear passenger seat is reclined causing the front passenger seat to move completely forward can the driver still see the passenger side rear view mirror?
@shocktrooper1000 You're probably right but there's no complaints about their compact cars or the Genesis Coupe. Also the things like warranty coverage is also great, they stand by their products.
Just one thing you keep mis-stating. The Button on the Steering Wheel with the Car, is not the LDWS, it is the distance control for Smart Cruise. The LDWS is activated on the left side part of the dash. I noticed you said it both here and in your Genesis Video.
At first when hyaundai came to the states in 1986.. I thought that it was a car you use and throw it away. A joke per-se. Now I'm starting to like and respect Hyaundai in every given way. And this equis is one of those cars. Mercedes. BMW. AUDI. And Cadillac. Watch Out. There Maybe A New Sheriff In Town. Nice Vid.
Best part is it's below $100,000 dollars. So if where rich i'd get this car and this car has the all the features and quality of a High-End luxury sedan, I'd got to hand it to Hyundai they just made a quality luxury sedan that can do both performance and at the same time pampers it's passengers with substantial amount of luxury. This is a luxury sedan to be recon with.
alot of Brand Conscious people will Turn their nose up at this because its made by Hyundai, but you can't deny hyundai is making some pretty awesome vehicles these days, the Equus shows just how far they've come....if you didn't see the badges you'd swear this was a Lexus or Benz....it looks that good.
It has a similar chime for startup as well... but it only happens if you dont use the smart access system and unlock the car through the key fob.... I have no idea why...
@saabkyle04 When are you going to do a tour on the Hyundai Genesis sedan? It's in the background on every hyundai tour video why the hell don't you do it? =(.
I read somewhere that the Equus is geared toward the South Korean market. For a car in that price range, I would expect more of a substantial look for the exterior styling. The interior styling looks rather disjointed....think they should have gone for more of an organic look inside. Fit and finish does appear excellent though, and it appears to be a good start for Hyundai into a higher level car.
@Jakeman2164 That's typical of luxury brands. I don't think the Maybach has a M-B star on it anywhere. It's a contrast to the early 90s Acuras which were very happy to show you Honda actually made the car.
@braineyboy I think there are a lot of people in North America, who don't know a lot of things about Hyundai. For example, just for starters, that it is the largest and most sprawling industrial conglomerate in South Korea, who builds anything from railway engines, to some of the largest oceangoing vessels in the world, together with their marine engines and so forth.
@Jakeman2164 I disagree with that. look at a company like Honda and Toyota. When they wanted better cars, or higher class more expensive and really better and valuable cars they opened up new titles and badges like Acura and Lexus. Hyundai decided rather than opening up new titles, just make a new car and give it its own logo, so like a sub section. the Equus and the Genesis both do that, although owned by Hyundai, they have entirely unique badges on them to signify cars of higher class.
@Cuseball121 BMW 535i and Merc E350 don't even come close for the price of the Equus. Equus has a V8 and much nicer interior (more S-class or 7-series like) with standard navigation, audio package, etc. Something similar from BMW or Merc will be at least $15,000 more.
I work at Hyundai part time. I wont say where. Ive handled the 14 model. I do like the TV screens mounted on the rear of the two front seats. It now comes with a 5.0 8 spd automatic engine. While Im impressed with some of the features, the 70K price tag is a bit much for it if you ask me. The Genesis 4 door now also comes with a 5.0L engine also 8 speed and looks similar.. If you ask me, this car was made for the passenger, NOT the driver
At a certain point, it might be better for Hyundai to create a luxury division. Take the Equus out of what is an acceptable price point for Hyundai. That way, they can stuff all the goodies into it, charge it north of $80k, and seriously compete with the luxo big boys without being restricted by the brand perception.
+Steeve McCloud That's because people are paying for the badge at this price and to them it being cheaper don't appeal to them. I rather get the Genesis, it looks better and I like the name more...lol
Beautiful vehicle not to many of these particular models on the road Equus Ultimate some features you find in this car is on the cars that cost thousands more, rides like you're floating on a cloud reliability is a 10.
The international version of the equus is more prestigious imo for two reasons: 1. the name. Its called the centennial which is more classy & sophisticated. 2. the badge on the international version is a sculpted statue rather than a flat badge.
LED headlights from Audi (those "christmas light" led accents) for one example. My point is there is no coincidence why all high end brand manufacturers have smart cruise control, or rear cameras, etc. One brand does it first then everyone follows.
I can't speak for the K9 cause I don't think it's being sold in the US (correct me if i'm wrong, cause the K9 is still under the "Concept" section in the USA Kia website), but I've seen the Equus in real life before, and I still stand by my opinion.
I love where Hyundai is going. It's amazing how well the brand turned around in a couple years. Before then, no one talked about Hyundai. Now they're everywhere.
10 years later, you were correct.
So U recommend this vehicle?
I was going to buy a Ls460L hybrid this week, but Equus would save me a lot. Instead of paying $101k, I'm paying $60k instead, with more features, and an amazing warranty. It makes so much since!!! I love it!!
I think this is your longest video. :D The car really has a lot of features to cover. Awesome.
By far my favorite in depth tour. every question i could possible ask has been answered about this car!
This is a car to consider buying with a V8 N/A.
OK I've been looking at the Audi A8 for a couple years. I've made up my mind and am buying this instead. Great job Hyundai.
RotaryPerfection did you get a equus
Jeremy Chaneyfield they have came a long way. I recently traded my Equus in for the new G90
Khalid Mohammed looking at getting one trading in my 2010 maxima sv premium
Jeremy Chaneyfield do it sir
very smart of hyundai to use a different badge than normal, avoids some snobbery based on simply seeing a badge and making an unconscious judgement. The front shape looks fantastic!
I think Nobody couldnt even think that Hyundai can step up this far in the car buisness five years ago. I was impressed by the Genesis models, but this Equus impresses me even more.
I've always admired the Lexus LS 460...but this car is amazing. Love the styling all around, especially the front. Very bold.
Wow, quality looks outstanding on this car. Hyundai have really come up in the automotive world.
ever since this car came out I have fallen in love with it
I don't know why everybody is saying this car is gonna fail I've seen like 5 of them already, and this is a vehicle that's in limited release. It's too early to be making assumptions on this cars' success. Most people who are pointing out the negatives about this car are just nit-picking; like complaining about the chrome or not liking the design of the badge which are just personal preferences and not actual flaws.
Amazing is all i got to say, they have really came a long way.
21 minutes?! i gotta start planning my life around these in depth tours.
I work at a hyundai dealership, we did massive burnouts in these, epic fun love this car
This car is gorgeous on the inside!
Too bad Cadillac, Infiniti, and Acura don't have a car like that, and it's a shame.
Actually Cadillac is releasing the CT6 soon which is like a short wheelbase 7-Series
Raghav Maini not even close to the quality of this vehicle
marc1093280 Infiniti and Acura suck!
Its a Drag Queen , Why buy this when people can buy a real car .
Lexus
Having been in one of these, I think it is a lovely car and when other people are in it.
love your reviews the best. they are solid and have the same pattern. keep up the great work
Shrink the trunk, elongate it, and allow both rear seats reclining capabilities. Optional bi-turbo v6 for better mpg, panoramic roofing, and make the fridge optional or relocate it. Otherwise very nice.
Beautiful example of a company that has nothing to envy anyone :)
Hyundai is really stepping up. Very beautiful car.
What a beautiful car.
Thank you for the review. And what a great history of success Hyundai is!
Seeing a new video from you in my sub box makes me day...keep it up Kyle...
Wow, I never knew Hyundai could make such a nice car.
Your vids have really changed my mind about the Hyundai brand. I was thinking of purchasing either an audi, acura, or chevy camaro, but I like this car. The genesis is great also. Thanks.
That is the K9... The final product...
The K9 has been selling really well in Korea for the past year.
The buttons on the side of the front passenger remind me of the Lexus LS which puts the button on the left side too
this is an AMAZING car. they're very special, my local hyundai dealer isn't even certified to sell them and trust me, it's a big dealer)
This has massive presence in real life in person, as much presence as a phantom especially in black in oncoming trafic..
piece of art..
What a beautiful car that is! =D I can see the future of cars now.

You could live in that thing! It looks like it's truly designed for the rear occupant.
Equus in Korea has Limo version which has 3.8L GDi or 5.0L GDi(optional) mated with 8AT.
The 4.6 is the most reliable tho
i love this car, it just looks alive to me. like the headlights are corneas. it captivates
that shut down chime is extremely cheezy
At first when hyaundai came to the states in 1986.. I thought that it was a car you use and throw it away. A joke per-se. Now I'm starting to like and respect Hyaundai in every given way. bmw 7 series beat this this is like a mercedes S class
What a Magnificent attempt by this company,,It paid off.
alot of cool features in this car! Im impressed!

I used to hate Hyundai's till dad got a 2011 Hyundai Elantra for a work car they are very nice cars... now I love Hyundai...lol!
Sweet! Great vid as always Kyle!
I have yet to see one of these cars where I live, but great video Kyle!
It has a similar chime for startup as well... but it only happens if you dont use the smart access system and unlock the car through the key fob.... I have no idea why...
@dumapies how is it like the rolls Royce logo? The rolls is an R on top of an R? It barely even looks like the spirit of ecstasy either. . .
getting one Thursday a signature I cant wait!
Why Hyundai Equus does not have a front chrome bird-like statue/sign but the centennial has it?
Hi Kyle, can you do an in depth video of the new (or old) BMW 5 series?
Imagine an AMG Engine in this. This thing would be a rocket gone wild
A korean maybach
listen to your heart! i love that song
does the seat in the back that you were sitting on have massage too?
amazingly beautiful
i'm 5'6 1/2" will my feet touch the front chair if i sit in the recliner chair ???? PLEASE ANSWER ME
AMAZING car!
wow...this car is amazing for a hyundai
what happens if you are going to a larger distance from the vehicle with the key, when the motor is running ?
Hell yeah, I sat in one of these at an auto show and its way nicer than any of the mercedes, BMW's, or Audis.
Hello Saabkyle! I wonder when would you make a video about the Audi A5/S5 and Infiniti IPL coupe?
Any idea what the maintenance cost of this car would be?
Inexpensive
@burninrock24 off course, but generally speaking about Hyundai's cars obvious the Equus is amazing!
I am more convinced now. Great job mate!!
@carbonxcopy You have to start somewhere. The BMW 7 and all those other brands only have pedigree because of time. Over time this will mature as well.
Hey Kyle, can you do a test drive?
Thanks.
Keep up the good work, your da bomb!
Can you make a video on the newer equus models? Like from 2014-2015?
is this really hyundai? Very nice car!
the one flaw i see is that need bigger cabin so that all passagers can enjoy reclined seats?
is it called a sun roof or a moon roof? Cause I hear both but I don't know what to call it!
@saabkyle04 When are you going to do a tour on the Hyundai Genesis sedan? It's in the background on every hyundai tour video why the hell don't you do it? =(.

Saabkyle04, could you make a full in depth tour of the 2011 Toyota Camry plz)

@ers1027 They also had that logo for a long time. In Korea, they had it since 1997.
Hyundai best car yet.
And Kyle, is this system easier to use than the iDrive in the BMW? More specifically the last gen iDrive.
