    Yup, that question - "why didn't you say anything"? That question which gets put forth to the victim so often stands as a living legacy to the lack of understanding and knowledge surrounding the dynamics of sexual abuse. For me, the answer would have been, "Because I was afraid of police coming to take me away, getting on the front headlines of the newspaper, losing the companionship of all my friends, losing the love of my parents, and finally, becoming blacklisted from community for all time because now everyone knows I was someone's filthy little douch bag bitch. A child is just not going to be able to put that answer together no matter what, but, that's just the kind of things we believe especially as kids. Given that is the case, it may not be to hard to imagine that choosing to stay silent may be your best line of self preservation.
