The reason why the Terminator and John Connor were naked was because only living things can go be sent back through time so if they had clothes on it wouldn't be able they wouldn't be able to go back in time

The most interesting part about this is that when Kyle is looking at the photo of Sarah. He's wondering what she is thinking about. And we discover that she was thinking of Kyle right at that moment. Lovers lost across time.
'At least the creepy guy will die". That's pretty cold. He's not a 'creepy guy', he's the roommates boyfriend and obviously on friendly terms with Sarah.
I love the way the T-1000 grows another arm to pilot the helicopter and shoot at the same time. People sometimes call it a mistake, claiming it's the arm of the real pilot.
"I didn't think we'd see his shlong in 1985". We didn't. The shot was originally designed to obscure him in shadow, this was just an unintended consequence of a hi-def blu-ray transfer.
@@leonielson7138 But it really only works because it was in the first. It was the first thing Kyle said to her when they met which both confused and calmed her.
"This lady's a great actress." Truer words were never spoken Mary. Linda Hamilton has always been excellent, as far back as Beauty & The Beast, an 80's romance show with Ron Perlman as the Beast (and written by GoT's GRRM). Just wait till you see her in the sequel. She's incredible.
Ironically for an Action flick, the script for the Terminator is studied in a lot of film classes. It's widely considered one of the most efficient scripts ever filmed.
In terms of Kyle Reese, perhaps it’s relatively easy for me to say, since I’ve watched this movie countless times, but: 1. He doesn’t behave like an assassin. 2. He doesn’t exhibit any sign of being a villain. 3. Not the least factor, but the flashback/forward from the future features him as a member of the human resistance and combating the machines. After those 3 factors, especially the last, why in the world would anyone be under the impression that he’s looking to kill Sarah Connor and even be surprised to learn that he’s a protector.
When Mary stated, "If this guy set it to kill the waitress, Sarah Conner, and then they fell in love instead," my thought was instantly, "she has NO idea!" I just knew we were in for an even better ride than anticipated in this occasion. 😁
I mean, the plot of time travel to save the world from a dystopian future has been done a million times since 1984, but The Terminator was the first (I think?) mainstream movie not only to present such an idea, but to do it so freaking AMAZINGLY. I think X-Men's Days of Future Past arc did it first in 1981, but that was (the best ever) comic books.
"The Time Machine" book by HG Wells in 1951 and movie from 1960 is sort of on that theme although there he technically goes back to save the love of his and ends up going to a dystopian future.
Dystopian futures combined with time travel have been depicted in movies and TV shows since the invention of science fiction. James Cameron had to include an acknowledgement to Harlan Ellison in later releases of The Terminator because of elements involving time travel, etc., that were similar to an episode of the TV show The Outer Limits.

@@dongilleo9743 You're 100% correct. I was particularly responding to Mary's expressed opinion that she thought, or was hoping that Reese would kill the Terminator. However, her journey from Sarah Connor the waitress to Sarah Connor the rebel, does begin long before she kills the Terminator.

Dark is an underappreciated masterpiece. Many of the same actors went on to be in other James Cameron's movies. Michael Biehn, Lance Henrickson and Bill Paxton were all in Aliens for example. Arnold's agent didn't want him to be in this movie because he was a villain, but it was his star making role as it turned out after Conan the Barbarian.
Unnecessary "fun fact" I worked with a Sarah Conner and she had a little brother named John. I asked in an obvious way that it must've been because of the films. She said he dad hadn't seen the films and he just wanted them to have traditional names.
Then after some self reflection on where his life was going while recovering from his broken legs he takes flight training and learns to fly helicopter and got a great job with the police until one night when......
“I thought he was a good guy.” The word “terminator” derives from the word “terminate,” which is essentially synonymous to words like “eliminate” & “dispose.” In war, that is interpreted as “kill.”
I actually enjoy all the Terminator movies even the last one that got bashed it was actually entertaining and remember Mary loved all the Jurassic Park movies so keep going Mary it’s going to be a fun ride!
"He's a cyborg. His dad was a robot, his mom was a human." I have known a few women who have used electronic equipment in the bedroom. I think the Terminator clearly inherited his Dad's hydraulic buzzing sounds.
Arnie says "I'll be back," in at least three or four of his classic movies. This one is arguably the most iconic, but it became sort of a running joke.
Next up: T2 The song at Technoir club is Burnin' in the third degree by Tahnee and the Tryanglz. Most iconic song from this mega hit. Yes, there's more than a trilogy to this. Please watch all of them. There's also a show called The Sarah Connor Chronicles as well as books. "Come with me if you want to live" and "I'll be back" are the famous quotes from here.
Kyle Reece was played by Michael Biehn, who also played Hicks in Aliens! Both James Cameron films. And the drop-ship in Aliens is also in the Terminator movies! (Michael Biehn also played in Tombstone and in the Mandalorian episode The Jedi)
James Cameron has openly admitted and it’s in his concept art for the film he was inspired by John Carpenter’s Halloween. I strongly recommend stopping after 2 but that’s just my two cents.
Terminator 3 has some redeeming points and I did find Terminator Salvation mildly entertaining, but the series definitely peaked with T2 and they could have just as easily left it at that. Actually, I would have liked it better if they'd have spent more time getting into the future post-apocalyptic world part of things in any sequels beyond the second one, which they kinda did with Salvation, but they didn't keep the same otherworldly atmosphere from Cameron's universe so it wasn't what I was hoping for.
Eh, Cameron claimed a lot of things about the inspiration for Terminator. He also claimed he got it all from a fever-dream. Then Harlan Ellison sued him and Cameron was forced to add an acknowledgement to the credits, so I think we know where most of the inspiration actually came from.
"I never heard so many guns in one movie.". You need to watch a few Clint Eastwood movies. Definitely need to watch Terminator 2 now! And I highly recommend The Gauntlet with Clint Eastwood from 1977.
I think you’ve perfectly pointed out the time travel paradox. The only reason the Terminator came back in time was because of the future war but the only reason the machines are able to take over is because the Terminator came back. Another time travel movie that deals with this paradox is Back to the Future.
This is the greatest Sci-fi action slasher of all time, and was released in 1984; Terminator 2 is the perfect sequel; the other films are Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator: Salvation, Terminator: Genisys and Terminator: Dark Date
Notice how Dr Silberman is leaving as the terminator is walking in to the police station. This is the reason he doesn't believe in the terminators. He never actually saw one, until the sequel.
You might not recognize Kyle (Michael Biehn), but he was Johnny Ringo in Tombstone. He was also the gunslinger in the Asoka episode of The Mandalorian. Also, want more gunshots? John Wick.
John Connors know that kyle is his father. That's why he give him the photography, but Kyle don't know, he say he don't understand why John Connors give him the photography. If you want to know the inspiration of this story of futur's soldier back in time for a woman that he fall in love of her picture, I advice to you to see a french short film call "La jetée". You can find it on youtube with english subtitles.
am loving your feast on all these classic movies i wouldn't be surprised if we end up seeing brandon lee's crow on here thank you for your amazing reactions
I was wondering if you would recognize the actor playing Kyle. Probably would’ve rung a bell if the terminator walked up and said, “Well… Johnny Ringo…”
Fun fact: They originally offered Arnold the Reese role, but he wanted the role of the Terminator. Some high ups thought it wouldn't work, or that it would hurt Arnold's career, thankfully, he didn't listen, and a legend began.
T1 is great, T2 is better. After that they're mostly so-so. The TV show was alright, though. Reese is played by the same actor who played Johnny Ringo in Tombstone.
Also hilarious: 'Why don't they just take a plane to Australia? Nothing will happen to them here!' - right, let's escape the killer cyborg by going to Australia where the humans won't kill you but two thirds of the wildlife will kill you in 5 minutes! Ha Ha
Did he write it? Thought he just produced it. And he had troubles with the director Terminator: Dark Fate is a 2019 American science fiction action film directed by Tim Miller and written by David Goyer, Justin Rhodes, and Billy Ray from a story by James Cameron, Charles Eglee, Josh Friedman, Goyer, and Rhodes. Cameron also produced the film with David Ellison.
He destroyed it also for the first time with all the drama over the years about the pre-production of T3 ("of course i'm in for T3 - count me in!"...."nope i'm out".... "no i'm back in for the film again"...."sorry i'm out again!"). That was also the reason for the absense of Linda Hamilton (his ex-wife) in T3.
@@MikeB12800 yes he wrote, in fact... SPOILER ALERT Killing John Connor was his idea And people blame Tim Miller for how the movie turned out, which is very unfair.
The opening scene, that's from the Griffith Park Observatory looking over LA. I used to live in this neighborhood. BTW, one of the guys he beat up there was Bill Paxton.
Great reaction. Kyle Reese pretty much had to die because he knows to much about the future that he could influence it too much and not let natural progression take place.
Terminator one and two are amazing. The only other movie that could be considered the best sequel of all time in my humble opinion is aliens the sequel to alien. Aliens also directed by James Cameron.
Ya. Agreed if we exclude Star Wars and LoTR trilogies as they were made basically as one continuous story... I would also throw the Godfather in that mix tho
Fun fact about Terminator. Skynet is the one who created his enemy John Connor. If it didn't send Terminator to 84, the force of resistance would not send Kyle and John would not be born. Funny paradox of this time loop.
When you think about it, the events of T1 are the 3rd alteration of the time line. The first, Sarah goes out on her own after her date ditched her and leaves Ginger and Matt behind, she meets John’s original father in the bar she went to when the news report came on, my theory is maybe this guy has some military background and teaches Sarah and John a few things, the war starts and John uses those teachings and leads the resistance to victory. This leads to the first alteration of time as Skynet sends back a Termintor to kill Sarah, the resistance sends back Reece (who in this timeline is not John’s father), he finds Sarah and now becomes John’s father. That leads to Sarah learning military/weapons training through other means, the war starts and John leads the resistance to victory. Skynet again sends a Terminator back, John sends Reece knowing that he is his father, and we now have the events of T1. Also the sending back of the Terminator speeds up Skynet and Cyberdyne Systems’ research as they have the arm and chip of the Terminator, which is why we have the advancement in technology in T2 with the T-1000.
All time travel stories have built-in logic flaws to them. The overriding lesson is that if you try to alter an event in time it has a domino effect that can go on in perpetuity and descend into chaos.
Just wanna say you break my heart with this "If they made a remake" ... Not for the reasons you may think...just that...Hollywood has been trying to "remake" Terminator ever since this one was released. Terminator 2, for all intents and purposes, is THE remake and it's freaking AWESOME!
Speaking as a producer: with the number of rehashed scenes and reused jokes that T2 contains, it is a remake. It seems you think I'm trying to take something away from T2 by stating this. I'm not. I'm adding to your knowledge, not taking anything away from it.

The reason time travelers arrive at the destination nude is because the machine cannot let anything non-organic through... Clothes, Weapons, Gear.
Except lots of metal apparently. Maybe Kyle should've worn a knight's armor.
Or just organic material on the outside
Cotton, wool, linen are all organic.
@@Yggdrasil42 wouldn't work on the outside, has to be surrounded by living tissue.
They should have explained only living tissue could travel.
Unnecessary "fun fact" I worked with a Sarah Conner and she had a little brother named John. I asked in an obvious way that it must've been because of the films. She said he dad hadn't seen the films and he just wanted them to have traditional names.
That driver who immediately exits his freight truck after being told by the T-800 to get out is the smartest side character in this film. XD
Then after some self reflection on where his life was going while recovering from his broken legs he takes flight training and learns to fly helicopter and got a great job with the police until one night when......
“I thought he was a good guy.”
The word “terminator” derives from the word “terminate,” which is essentially synonymous to words like “eliminate” & “dispose.” In war, that is interpreted as “kill.”
I actually enjoy all the Terminator movies even the last one that got bashed it was actually entertaining and remember Mary loved all the Jurassic Park movies so keep going Mary it’s going to be a fun ride!
There's always one.
One of my favorite movies of all time, and its why I became a "Arnie" fan!
"His dad was a robot, his mom was human." 😂🤣😂You have quite the imagination. I hope you write.
"He's a cyborg. His dad was a robot, his mom was a human."
I have known a few women who have used electronic equipment in the bedroom. I think the Terminator clearly inherited his Dad's hydraulic buzzing sounds.
Arnie says "I'll be back," in at least three or four of his classic movies. This one is arguably the most iconic, but it became sort of a running joke.
This one was also the first.
"I came across time for you" is a pretty epic pick-up line if you can back it up.
😂😂😂😂
Next up: T2 The song at Technoir club is Burnin' in the third degree by Tahnee and the Tryanglz. Most iconic song from this mega hit. Yes, there's more than a trilogy to this. Please watch all of them. There's also a show called The Sarah Connor Chronicles as well as books. "Come with me if you want to live" and "I'll be back" are the famous quotes from here.
There are only two Terminator films...
Now that you know where "I'll be back" comes from, you need to know where "get to the choppa!" comes from.
Mary: John Connor will have a father.
Kyle Reese: This is a one way trip. There is no going back!
“Oh we’re gonna watch this. I’m not. Oh maybe I should.” 😂😂😂😂😂
Kyle Reece was played by Michael Biehn, who also played Hicks in Aliens! Both James Cameron films. And the drop-ship in Aliens is also in the Terminator movies!
(Michael Biehn also played in Tombstone and in the Mandalorian episode The Jedi)
Kyle Reese actor was Johnny Ringo in Tombstone, shot by Doc Holiday.
James Cameron has openly admitted and it’s in his concept art for the film he was inspired by John Carpenter’s Halloween.
I strongly recommend stopping after 2 but that’s just my two cents.
this. I mean, you already predicted the plot of T2 so you gotta do that one. And it is excellent, incindentally. The rest... not so much.
3 is pretty good, not as great as this and 2 though.
Eh, Cameron claimed a lot of things about the inspiration for Terminator. He also claimed he got it all from a fever-dream. Then Harlan Ellison sued him and Cameron was forced to add an acknowledgement to the credits, so I think we know where most of the inspiration actually came from.
@@michaelccozens I don’t care.
Arnold movie marathon. Commando, Predator, Running Man, Kindergarten Cop, True Lies. This is all outside the Terminator movies, of course.
"I never heard so many guns in one movie.". You need to watch a few Clint Eastwood movies. Definitely need to watch Terminator 2 now! And I highly recommend The Gauntlet with Clint Eastwood from 1977.
I was thinking of Predator, actually. ;) You know the scene...
@@j.f.fisher5318 I'm thinking Heat... YOU know the scene :D
Um.... the opening of Saving Private Ryan?
"His dad was a robot, his mum was a human" Nano technology sperm?
Damn, those practical effects still look freaky as all hell... Can't wait to see what you think of the sequel!
I think you’ve perfectly pointed out the time travel paradox. The only reason the Terminator came back in time was because of the future war but the only reason the machines are able to take over is because the Terminator came back.
Another time travel movie that deals with this paradox is Back to the Future.
Get excited! While The Terminator is an amazing movie, Terminator 2: Judgment Day is considered one of the greatest movies ever made.
One of the greatest sequels ever made. But I still prefer this one (the terminator) to T2
"I've seen him kill another sarah." - Nope. 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
This is the greatest Sci-fi action slasher of all time, and was released in 1984; Terminator 2 is the perfect sequel; the other films are Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator: Salvation, Terminator: Genisys and Terminator: Dark Date
You mean "Dark Fate" not Dark Date. However, Terminator Dark Date could make for a very interesting movie! A decidedly twisted rom-com maybe? 😉
Notice how Dr Silberman is leaving as the terminator is walking in to the police station. This is the reason he doesn't believe in the terminators. He never actually saw one, until the sequel.
Yes, Terminator 2, along with Empire Strikes Back, The Godfather 2, and The Dark Knight are considered the greatest sequels of all time.
Ahem....The Two Towers.
Evil Dead II
All correct except that Return Of The Jedi > empire strikes back.
Aliens
„Come to Australia, nothing happens here“
-Mary 2021-
The fact that our generations have never seen this movie shows how much we missed in life. Just have to say, wow
her mother also died btw if you didint miss it her feet was upside down in the wall when IT talked to the phone.
"He has no manners at all!" xD Well, he IS a killer cyborg.
Oh yeah, my nieces are named Sarah (8) and Mary (5).
Go watch 'Sleepy Hollow' with Johnny Depp, the best American traditional horror story.
You didn't see Reese kill any Sarah's lol. This and the second one are both really great movies.
I was wondering if you would recognize the actor playing Kyle. Probably would’ve rung a bell if the terminator walked up and said, “Well… Johnny Ringo…”
or "Drake, we are LEAVING!!!"
Or «I say we take off, nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.»
“That’s abnormal. That Hawkins, he’s part fish”
The Witch is set before those events, though it was a film made way after Sleepy Hollow.
Also hilarious: 'Why don't they just take a plane to Australia? Nothing will happen to them here!' - right, let's escape the killer cyborg by going to Australia where the humans won't kill you but two thirds of the wildlife will kill you in 5 minutes! Ha Ha
James Cameron created EVERYTHING
And then he destroyed EVERYTHING when he wrote DARK FATE
Did he write it? Thought he just produced it. And he had troubles with the director
Terminator: Dark Fate is a 2019 American science fiction action film directed by Tim Miller and written by David Goyer, Justin Rhodes, and Billy Ray from a story by James Cameron, Charles Eglee, Josh Friedman, Goyer, and Rhodes.
SPOILER ALERT
Killing John Connor was his idea
And people blame Tim Miller for how the movie turned out, which is very unfair.
@@RayMcElroy50They said how they wanted a fresh start away from John and said killing him was ripping the bandaid off
"I'll be back" started here and then it became Arnold's catchphrase and he used in in many films.
The opening scene, that's from the Griffith Park Observatory looking over LA. I used to live in this neighborhood.
BTW, one of the guys he beat up there was Bill Paxton.
"Game over, man! Game over!"
@@LordGalenYT Exactly, man, exactly.
Wow! I've just put this in a reply to someone's comment. Great minds think alike
Ya. Agreed if we exclude Star Wars and LoTR trilogies as they were made basically as one continuous story... I would also throw the Godfather in that mix tho
@@glenmcdonald375 yes! Great films, Godfather pt2 was amazing
Terminator 2 is clearly a sequel, not a remake.
Speaking as a producer: with the number of rehashed scenes and reused jokes that T2 contains, it is a remake. It seems you think I'm trying to take something away from T2 by stating this. I'm not. I'm adding to your knowledge, not taking anything away from it.
The blue haired punk at the beginning of the movie was Bill Paxton. He is missed.
interesting fact : the bootstrap theory is named from 1st sci fi short story of the genre , by robert a heinlein " by his bootstraps " . one of the greatest writers of sci fi voted 1st grandmaster, by his peers.
I prefer '-All You Zombies-' because it's just that little bit weirder 😃
@@pedanticperson1149 there is a movie "predestination" 2014 is closely based on it , its excellent and online.
A true injustice that Pugsley never made it into the sequels.
Whenever you watch terminator 2, watch the theatrical version not the directors/extended cut. The theatrical version is perfect.
