As far as I'm concerned Alex Ligertwood is one of the best vocalists in rock history the guy has soul bleeding from his pores, he's one bad mother, it's no wonder a legend like Carlos Santana used him to build his bands claim to fame, they are both greatness, together there are few words to describe the magic.
He so simple but got so much soul, i first heard him sing this song in a RUclips mix after my wife passed away earlier this year and it made me buckle into tears hearing him sing it with so much compassion at the US Festival in 1982. That’s what version I heard and wales it out, this little guy from Scotland
It's this voice. It's the voice that was part of my 80s youth days. And the voice of 86 in Berlin next to Carlos Santana. Alex was the best they ever had. Specially with buddy miles
Soulful version of the song by the great Alex Ligertwood, a masterful vocalist and songwriter. He was a musical stalwart during the Santana band's pinnacle era.. Bravo!
Alex Ligertwood was one of the great singer 👏 of Santana band. Alex Ligertwood is dedication to someone he new well fantastic songs he sang for Santana band 80,s and 90,s he has a great voice great singer for Santana .
Lead guitar player is killing it in this tune, and AL sounds great as well. But the bass player is outstanding--very tasty stuff. Great version of this classic tune. I will say I would have liked to have heard one last reprise of the chorus at the very end, just to sort of wrap things up a bit. The ending here sort of left me hanging a little bit, after the big build up.
The most memorable song from the US 82 Festival for me was the Santana tune featuring Alex Lingertwood called Hold On. This song was performed at the right time of the festival, late in the day. It was perfect in my view. Yet this tune was not part of this chapter of this excellent documentary. I watched this excellent documentary up until this point but will stop for now. Not being able to find this tune consistently through the years has been disappointing. There must be some artistical issue depriving lovers of this tune. When musicians and vocal artists can agree that together they shine brightly together, everyone benefits!
The originator of this song was Canadian songwriter Ian Thomas. It was a powerful soulful piece which must have spoken loudly to Santana as they did a very admirable job of covering it.
I just noticed something. Alex seems to really like Russ Ballard songs like "Winning" and "She's Not There" both of which he recorded with Santana. Yet THIS song titled "Hold On' is a totally different song than the one of the same title by Russ Ballard.
These guys did a great version of this song, as did Santana, but I`ll always prefer the original version by The Ian Thomas Band from Canada. The song was written by Ian Thomas.
Alex, you are the best singer Santana has ever had! Love your voice man.
Greg Walker
Also good men vocal backings.
❤❤

I agree, and I love this song!

My above comment was redirected to this video instead of the new, excellent, US 82 documentary series. Don't know why but AI has come a long way.
Blessings to Alex
Still listening in 2023 !!!
Quelle voix !

The great Jerry Riggs on guitar!!
The originator of this song was Canadian songwriter Ian Thomas. It was a powerful soulful piece which must have spoken loudly to Santana as they did a very admirable job of covering it.

D’ONT YOU NOW I MISS YOU BABY ?😊❤

This song was written by Canadian singer/songwriter Ian Thomas, who almost didn't record it for an album around 1980. Thank goodness he did!
Rod argent wrote she’s not there, and Greg Walker was the lead singer when Santana recorded it.
These guys did a great version of this song, as did Santana, but I`ll always prefer the original version by The Ian Thomas Band from Canada. The song was written by Ian Thomas.
An Ian Thomas tune. Ian Thomas is the brother of Dave Thomas of SCTV fame. Canadian songwriting at its finest.
é bom de mais ouvir
Only Carlos missing but still a great version
👏👏👏👏👏
FYI I see Larry Hoppen the fabulous tenor of Orleans on the left
Him and Greg Walker
Como dije sin Carlos Santana no pasa nada 😱😱😱😱😱🤔🤔🤔🤔
