Yeah, I agree. It's pretty sad that she doesn't get enough love, because people are too blinded by fanboying over Makoto or Futaba. Looking back, I really don't like Makoto as much as I want to, because she comes off as a bit of a vain prude once you try to get to know her. Intelligence at Level 3 and Charm at 5? Seriously? Girl, that's just shallow. Futaba I somewhat understand, because she's really sympathetic and after hearing about the scars she had of her mother's death, a forged suicide note and pinning the blame on her. That's heartbreaking, but she feels more like a little sister. I love Ann, because she's the perfect balance of charming, sweet, sexy, snarky, and has that reasonable desperation for Shiho, not to mention like Joker, she had to deal with false labeling, because of her being a model and being Kamoshida's main sexual target.

Agreed. Plus, there's also the fact that the Protagonist and Ann kiss when you choose to romance her. Not to mention the scene where he listens to her vent her frustrations about her predicament about Kamoshida and how much she cares about Shiho, which can get a bit much at times, but in Ann's case, it makes sense, because of the rumors about her, and because Akira's been labeled as a criminal because of Shido arresting him on false assault charges, they have this deep understanding of each other due to their plights.

Inari the Fox To be fair there's never really any "canon" love interest. Makoto just happens to be the one players tend to prefer, at least on the west coast. I actually do ship RenXMakoto in terms of "canon", although me personally, my top waifu is definitely Ann. :) Kawakami or Takemi outside of the Phantom Thieves
Oh god I came back here after getting Ann’s rank 10 and now I’m actually just lying here crying my eyes out. What a sweet girl, she’s been with you since the very beginning, and she’s got the most heart to show for it.
A beautiful melody, and a beutiful scene. What I especially like about it is that it can be interpreted differently. Sure, it has its love at the first sight vibe, but there are other ways if you choose other romantic interests (like I did). For example: when Joker arrived in Tokyo, he was crushed and desperate. Everyone around including Sojiro and Kawakami gave him a very cold welcome. Joker thought his life was ruined, he felt lonely and trapped. The railway accident and rainy weather also didn't help at all. And then suddenly he sees this beautiful girl - and she notices him! And even gives him a smile! This brief encounter eases the burden on Joker's soul. Sometimes such a small thing as a smile from a stranger is enough to bighten your day. Joker doesn't know who this girl is - he can't even be sure if they will meet again (he could or could not notice the school emblem), but he is grateful to her for bringing some light to him in his darkest hour. Maybe because of that he is so persistent in helping her before the day of Shiho's tragedy?
I think this scene is just perfect, at this point in time Akira is going to his new school and has just came out of the worst. He was framed for assault even though what he did was just, and now he has to move away from his parents and go live with someone he doesn't know. After moving he starts walking to school and suddenly, you see her. Neither of you know each other but you feel this strange presence. Almost like you have known them for as long as you remember, but you don't know her. So what is this feeling? Your gazes meet and all you can do is stare into her eyes. Suddenly a man pulls up and asks if she needs a ride, she accepts and gets in his car and drives away, you feel like something's wrong but you can't seem to figure it out. Right after the man leaves you see a boy your age running to you, "Dammit, screw that perverted teacher!" he exclaimed. "Perverted...teacher?" you ask. He sees you and just...stares. You feel like you've seen him, but this is the first time you've even looked at him. So what is this feeling?
AshtonSkyGiant Their situation is also similar in a way. Ren/Akira after stopping shido from raping that woman was labeled with false rumors after transferring to his new school, Anne being a "gaijin/foreigner" in a foreign country where nobody acknowledged her existence drove her to loneliness just like the mc... A sad and touching tale of fate that brought these two together in such a way, like love born out of despair. I even remembered how ren/akira felt the urge of wanting to help Anne from her predicament of sleeping with kamoshida being a throwback at how powerless he was at stopping shido from raping that woman... Quite endearing when he clenched his hands underneath the table...

Yeah. BTW, I read your story on their relationship and I really like how you added some extra moments between them to give the readers some more insight. Ann's my favorite and I romanced her twice, because I believe she and Akira have great chemistry due to how deeply similar they are. Dealing with rumors and just how very down to earth she is. Not to mention the kiss in the Ferris Wheel. That was what sealed the deal for me. Also, those two sex scenes, very top notch, because of the right amount of emotion and passion you put into them.

Shiho was her ONLY friend who even acknowledged her existence... Her pe teacher trying to lust her is a throwback at how powerless the mc was at trying to stop the woman from getting raped... Coincidence? I think not! These two are a lot similar in terms of situation. It's like fate brought them together to meet. I don't regret shipping these two one bit.

I fell asleep to this. Woke at midnight up still listening to it, but it was the most calming feeling ever. Windows open, a nice breeze, lying there with a smile on my face.
This scene was the reason I always go for Ann as MC's girlfriend in my P5 playthroughs, even though Makoto is my favorite girl in the game. It felt natural, I dare even say destined to be.
Ann is the only girl in the game that tells you how much she loves you.. Even say those words in Japan are heavy thing.. after finishing her confidant and taking her out for a date, if she has the opportunity to tell you how much she loves you and care for you she will definitely do it. Ann it's just made of love you can't find that love in other girls..

I'm happy to see that there are other people who love Ann, as much as me! She's the cutest, and I just love how her Confidant route is showing her improvement, and how her character is changing - we can see her progress. And that's true - when you are following the romance route, you are unable to feel anything :) She deserves more love from the fandom... I just can't understand that mass obssession about Makoto. Is there anything wrong with me?
Not to mention she's also a sweetheart, but has a healthy amount of sass and snark to her to spice things up. Only requiring level 2 kindness really shows her high trust in Joker and how she's truly accepting of him. People look at her as a stereotypical gal, but she's much more than that. She had to deal with an abusive perverted volleyball coach and her best friend being used as leverage to get to her and the rumors about her Kamoshida. When she's happy and bubbly, you wanna smile along with her, and her bubbliness adds to the cuteness factor, and when she's sad and on the verge of tears, you wanna give her a hug and be her shoulder to cry on. She's allowed to be vulnerable, she can be happy and she can be cute.

I like how it's implied that Ann is the main love interest, yet in cutscenes it was like Joker and Makoto were a thing because they had moments where it felt like they were being shipped by the game. I chose Ann though, she's too perfect

I know people say it's too easy, but honestly, it really highlights how highly Ann trusts Joker because of their mutual understanding of each other due to an unjust society putting false derogatory labels.

This game was just- something else. “I laughed, I cried, it move me” doesn’t even begin to explain this game. I broke out of my own shell a year before playing this game, and after playing this game I truly saw that I made the right choice. Don’t take anything for granted people, you might just end up loving it
If I were to rub a magic lamp and be granted 3 wishes, one of them would surely be that, whenever I am within a kilometer of my future soul mate, this song plays quietly in my head, only intensifying when I get closer to my future partner. I am a romantic, I know :D A man can dream, no?
I love how Joker looks at her and Ann just smiles back. everyone has their favorite and many will say that I will add this and that, but it is noticeable that throughout the game the one who takes the most hints to be the main love is Ann and it is not debatable, because it is like that
To be honest Ann might be the most serious crush I ever had on a fictional charakter. Her personality, her design, her story and her romance just hit so hard from this first meeting onwards. She is a charakter I look always forward to come back to cause of all the positive emotions she awakens in me.
an extended version! yes! one of my favorite soundtracks from p5, i always find me looping it myself in my head. it's so dreamy and almost as if it's a first love type of melody.
Not to mention they had another cutscene where she cries about her situation and Joker just sits there and listens and looks at her with such care and empathy about her plight. He's only known Ann for a day, and after she opens up to him about everything, he doesn't look away and grips his knees in anger and disgust at Kamoshida for forcing her into a corner and blackmailing her into having sex with him. It's such a beautiful and sad scene, because Joker and Ann understand each other and she's really the first person to look at him for who he truly is and not believe in false rumors due to being a victim of such derogatory labels and rumors herself. She had no one to turn to but a complete stranger who just transferred to her school and couldn't leave her alone and truly wanted to help her as much as he can. That scene was one of the biggest moments that compelled me to romance Ann, and stick with her to the very end. Plus, there's this commitment mentality that I have.Also, her arc has her dealing with the scars of Shiho's suicide attempt after Kamoshida raped her, even after he was brought to justice, the scars still hadn't fully healed and her she later on turns to her modeling job as a way of coping. It's a really relatable arc if you think about it. Trauma at the sight of your best friend attempting to commit suicide, and trying to better yourself. I'm sorry about my long winded post, but I have to say this. Ann's my favorite and that will never change for the reasons I mentioned above. And there's an actual kiss once you get her to rank 10 in the romance route. They actually share a legitimate kiss.
David Timmer After she broke down crying about how she had to sleep with kamoshida he pretty much had to run after her out of worry she might do something reckless. This choice isn't optional either, we as the player have no choice but to do it, pretty much this reinforces how powerful ren/akira cares about her. Anne even stated at how pushy he was until he can convince her to go somewhere safely with him to talk about her troubles. ^^

I love Makoto and Sumire. However, this scene right here is why I’ll always love Ann and Ren together the most. It’s not just because they’re canon, but because they had chemistry from the beginning. Also I just love this cutscene 😆
Honestly, I pretty much fell in love with her during her arc. She has so much shit going on with being bullied and all that and she does not care a bit for that but only for shiho. That's basically what makes her best girl for me. She literally always cares for others, even if she is just a normal girl, not like futaba who is very smart or makoto whos quite influential because of her position and her sister. Yeah sure, Ann is beautiful and all that but that really is not what makes her unique and I don't get how some people can reduce her to that. Oh and when she got her Persona and literally broke the chains of kamoshida was a beautiful, badass turning point for her.
You're kinda reducing Futaba to her intelligence and Makoto to her relations yourself only to make Ann comes out better while downplaying what she worked for the most, her appearance. Reducing a character to one attribute is degrading whoever it is. I get the part when you say that Ann is more than that tho.
Did she work for her appearance the most? I am pretty sure that the other model in her confidant story is confused when Ann tells her that she doesn't do stuff like eat certain food to stay fit and thats the reason she didn't like Ann in the first place? And I really like all of the Phantoms Thieves a lot, so I don't really feel the need to purposfully reduce some of them to make other come out on top, but Futaba for example is only motivated to join the PTs because of her mother, which is totally understandable but still not altruistic.

It does not mean that she don't works to maintain her appearance in any forms, only that she require less effort to looks good and that's what infuriate Mika. Just looking at her haircut to the way she dresses you can guess that she is the kind to care of her looks. That's her forte.

I may agree with people that Makoto is the best girl for us PLAYERS but Ann is definitely best girl for Joker. If you think about it we only view Joker as a blank canvas through which we can express ourselves in the game yet if you think of him as a separate character I definitely think this is how he viewed Ann else why would developers never play this track again? Why did the encounter with other girls wasn't so special? In this moment we finally saw a glimpse of his true personality for it to be lost again by us taking control of him. Remember he was sent here as criminal no one treated him kindly and she was the first person ever to even look at him and give him a little smile for her he might have been another passer by but for him that smile may have opened his heart a little and at her beauty he was lost. For him she was the only colourful thing he saw on that gloomy rainy day . GOD I LOVE HER.

@@DBrealmadrid9606 Because it added a new romance option (Sumi), they had to push her hard for her to stand a chance against girls who’ve had years of staunchly defined head-canons built up before her introduction. The obvious way to do that is to add scenes with her to the timeline before the new Palace where she can actually be a full on character and not just a glorified billboard. To really make her viable as an actual love interest, not only does she confess before you get the choice to indulge or not, but they even give her scenes with Ren being gentlemanly around her in such a way that Japanese might read as romantic and when he comes back to Leblanc after doing his time, Ann’s line of “welcome home” (said in a way that Japanese wouldn’t with just anyone) is given to her

what i like about ann is while being highly decorated in beauty she can be quite the ditz and can come off dorky...also she's some one you just wanna comfort and she can sound really cute when she freaks out she also seems to have some chill vibes as well.
There's SO much more to it to this scene and this song that the game lets on to be displayed at face-value. Whenever there's an interaction between only Ren/Akira and Ann both the composition between shots and song and sound fully take over. These are the only instances in P5 where that is the case. In this case, whenever Ann is on screen, the rain is barely there, almost not there at all, it feels and looks like sunshine if you don't know any better. Also notice that strip of light that is fully facing Ren. When the scene switches to Ren, the rain is visible and audible, a strip of light is still there but on the other hand side and dimmed. This combined with the song and the 'fluttering' of the violins AND the Sunset Bridge rendition tells you one more thing: Ann Takamaki was the ray of light Ren needed after all the bs he had gone through, his hope to keep going and keep going strong. Also a perfect setup to her confrontation (Sunset Bridge with sunset in full desperation) and her rank 10 (Sunset bridge at sunset at the bridge, Ann telling you "you're her light") AND her unreleased voiced 3rd awakening scene ("you truly are my ray of sunshine") AND AND hidden theme of Royal and "Our Light" Not to mention she's the ONLY character in Royal, maybe even all of Persona as a series, that exclusively gets these all these instances and two renditions of songs dedicated to her that have never been used elsewhere (Encounter, Secret - piano version). She's the only character that metaphorically portays this exchange of light throughout all of P5R's story and THEN redefines how we see the other characters and their "light" after establishing it herself single-handedly. Absolutely genius writing hidden in plain sight

You know, I always find myself coming back to this song when I'm just in the zone, or just sitting at my desk, you know? When I first played this game I fell in love with this song, and I still love it. I just finished P3R and scrolled on RUclips, this song was there, and always will be in my heart.
Reading some of the comments here, I just realized how much importance there probably was in this scene considering that for the for the first time in a while, both Joker and Ann have encountered a person who looks at the them without any kind of prejudice and, yeah, I can see why people would say Ann is a case of first girl syndrome

A beautiful melody, and a beutiful scene. What I especially like about it is that it can be interpreted differently. Sure, it has its love at the first sight vibe, but there are other ways if you choose other romantic interests (like I did). For example: when Joker arrived in Tokyo, he was crushed and desperate. Everyone around including Sojiro and Kawakami gave him a very cold welcome. Joker thought his life was ruined, he felt lonely and trapped. The railway accident and rainy weather also didn't help at all.
And then suddenly he sees this beautiful girl - and she notices him! And even gives him a smile! This brief encounter eases the burden on Joker's soul. Sometimes such a small thing as a smile from a stranger is enough to bighten your day. Joker doesn't know who this girl is - he can't even be sure if they will meet again (he could or could not notice the school emblem), but he is grateful to her for bringing some light to him in his darkest hour. Maybe because of that he is so persistent in helping her before the day of Shiho's tragedy?

I think this scene is just perfect, at this point in time Akira is going to his new school and has just came out of the worst. He was framed for assault even though what he did was just, and now he has to move away from his parents and go live with someone he doesn't know. After moving he starts walking to school and suddenly, you see her. Neither of you know each other but you feel this strange presence. Almost like you have known them for as long as you remember, but you don't know her. So what is this feeling? Your gazes meet and all you can do is stare into her eyes. Suddenly a man pulls up and asks if she needs a ride, she accepts and gets in his car and drives away, you feel like something's wrong but you can't seem to figure it out. Right after the man leaves you see a boy your age running to you, "Dammit, screw that perverted teacher!" he exclaimed. "Perverted...teacher?" you ask. He sees you and just...stares. You feel like you've seen him, but this is the first time you've even looked at him. So what is this feeling?

Ren/Akira after stopping shido from raping that woman was labeled with false rumors after transferring to his new school, Anne being a "gaijin/foreigner" in a foreign country where nobody acknowledged her existence drove her to loneliness just like the mc... A sad and touching tale of fate that brought these two together in such a way, like love born out of despair. I even remembered how ren/akira felt the urge of wanting to help Anne from her predicament of sleeping with kamoshida being a throwback at how powerless he was at stopping shido from raping that woman... Quite endearing when he clenched his hands underneath the table...

Yeah. BTW, I read your story on their relationship and I really like how you added some extra moments between them to give the readers some more insight. Ann's my favorite and I romanced her twice, because I believe she and Akira have great chemistry due to how deeply similar they are. Dealing with rumors and just how very down to earth she is. Not to mention the kiss in the Ferris Wheel. That was what sealed the deal for me. Also, those two sex scenes, very top notch, because of the right amount of emotion and passion you put into them.

I fell asleep to this. Woke at midnight up still listening to it, but it was the most calming feeling ever. Windows open, a nice breeze, lying there with a smile on my face.
This scene was the reason I always go for Ann as MC's girlfriend in my P5 playthroughs, even though Makoto is my favorite girl in the game. It felt natural, I dare even say destined to be.
She is the first person he sees and gets the most screentime so it makes sense. Plus she gets the most solo animated scenes out of any of the girls.

She had to deal with an abusive perverted volleyball coach and her best friend being used as leverage to get to her and the rumors about her Kamoshida. When she's happy and bubbly, you wanna smile along with her, and her bubbliness adds to the cuteness factor, and when she's sad and on the verge of tears, you wanna give her a hug and be her shoulder to cry on. She's allowed to be vulnerable, she can be happy and she can be cute.

I think Ann was the canon love interest. You know, because of the lovers arcana.
Not to mention they had another cutscene where she cries about her situation and Joker just sits there and listens and looks at her with such care and empathy about her plight. He's only known Ann for a day, and after she opens up to him about everything, he doesn't look away and grips his knees in anger and disgust at Kamoshida for forcing her into a corner and blackmailing her into having sex with him. It's such a beautiful and sad scene, because Joker and Ann understand each other and she's really the first person to look at him for who he truly is and not believe in false rumors due to being a victim of such derogatory labels and rumors herself. She had no one to turn to but a complete stranger who just transferred to her school and couldn't leave her alone and truly wanted to help her as much as he can. That scene was one of the biggest moments that compelled me to romance Ann, and stick with her to the very end. Plus, there's this commitment mentality that I have.Also, her arc has her dealing with the scars of Shiho's suicide attempt after Kamoshida raped her, even after he was brought to justice, the scars still hadn't fully healed and her she later on turns to her modeling job as a way of coping. It's a really relatable arc if you think about it. Trauma at the sight of your best friend attempting to commit suicide, and trying to better yourself. I'm sorry about my long winded post, but I have to say this. Ann's my favorite and that will never change for the reasons I mentioned above. And there's an actual kiss once you get her to rank 10 in the romance route. They actually share a legitimate kiss.

we as the player have no choice but to do it, pretty much this reinforces how powerful ren/akira cares about her. Anne even stated at how pushy he was until he can convince her to go somewhere safely with him to talk about her troubles. ^^

Honestly, I pretty much fell in love with her during her arc. She has so much shit going on with being bullied and all that and she does not care a bit for that but only for shiho. That's basically what makes her best girl for me. She literally always cares for others, even if she is just a normal girl, not like futaba who is very smart or makoto whos quite influential because of her position and her sister. Yeah sure, Ann is beautiful and all that but that really is not what makes her unique and I don't get how some people can reduce her to that. Oh and when she got her Persona and literally broke the chains of kamoshida was a beautiful, badass turning point for her.
You're kinda reducing Futaba to her intelligence and Makoto to her relations yourself only to make Ann comes out better while downplaying what she worked for the most, her appearance. Reducing a character to one attribute is degrading whoever it is.

Did she work for her appearance the most? I am pretty sure that the other model in her confidant story is confused when Ann tells her that she doesn't do stuff like eat certain food to stay fit and thats the reason she didn't like Ann in the first place?
And I really like all of the Phantoms Thieves a lot, so I don't really feel the need to purposfully reduce some of them to make other come out on top, but Futaba for example is only motivated to join the PTs because of her mother, which is totally understandable but still not altruistic.

I may agree with people that Makoto is the best girl for us PLAYERS but Ann is definitely best girl for Joker.
If you think about it we only view Joker as a blank canvas through which we can express ourselves in the game yet if you think of him as a separate character I definitely think this is how he viewed Ann else why would developers never play this track again? Why did the encounter with other girls wasn't so special? In this moment we finally saw a glimpse of his true personality for it to be lost again by us taking control of him.
Remember he was sent here as criminal no one treated him kindly and she was the first person ever to even look at him and give him a little smile for her he might have been another passer by but for him that smile may have opened his heart a little and at her beauty he was lost. For him she was the only colourful thing he saw on that gloomy rainy day . GOD I LOVE HER.

@@DBrealmadrid9606 Because it added a new romance option (Sumi), they had to push her hard for her to stand a chance against girls who’ve had years of staunchly defined head-canons built up before her introduction. The obvious way to do that is to add scenes with her to the timeline before the new Palace where she can actually be a full on character and not just a glorified billboard. To really make her viable as an actual love interest, not only does she confess before you get the choice to indulge or not, but they even give her scenes with Ren being gentlemanly around her in such a way that Japanese might read as romantic and when he comes back to Leblanc after doing his time, Ann’s line of “welcome home” (said in a way that Japanese wouldn’t with just anyone) is given to her

Her romance is the sweetest and you could see how she genuinely cares for him.

what i like about ann is while being highly decorated in beauty she can be quite the ditz and can come off dorky...also she's some one you just wanna comfort and she can sound really cute when she freaks out she also seems to have some chill vibes as well.
And when she's happy, you wanna hug and squeeze her like a teddy bear
There's SO much more to it to this scene and this song that the game lets on to be displayed at face-value. Whenever there's an interaction between only Ren/Akira and Ann both the composition between shots and song and sound fully take over. These are the only instances in P5 where that is the case.
In this case, whenever Ann is on screen, the rain is barely there, almost not there at all, it feels and looks like sunshine if you don't know any better. Also notice that strip of light that is fully facing Ren. When the scene switches to Ren, the rain is visible and audible, a strip of light is still there but on the other hand side and dimmed.
This combined with the song and the 'fluttering' of the violins AND the Sunset Bridge rendition tells you one more thing: Ann Takamaki was the ray of light Ren needed after all the bs he had gone through, his hope to keep going and keep going strong.
Also a perfect setup to her confrontation (Sunset Bridge with sunset in full desperation) and her rank 10 (Sunset bridge at sunset at the bridge, Ann telling you "you're her light") AND her unreleased voiced 3rd awakening scene ("you truly are my ray of sunshine") AND AND hidden theme of Royal and "Our Light"
Not to mention she's the ONLY character in Royal, maybe even all of Persona as a series, that exclusively gets these all these instances and two renditions of songs dedicated to her that have never been used elsewhere (Encounter, Secret - piano version). She's the only character that metaphorically portays this exchange of light throughout all of P5R's story and THEN redefines how we see the other characters and their "light" after establishing it herself single-handedly.

I don't think any of us are ready to let go of this game, p5. I really want a p5 part 2 or something similar to p5s. that adds more to these characters. i love them all so much. & idk if I want to play p5t but maybe that'll introduce me to a new genre idk.
I mean they milked the fuck out of persona 5.
I think persona 5 tactica is the last one. And I think that's okay.
In like 10 years they'll probably make a remake that adds another 100 hours to the already 300 hour persona 5 royal
