I think this confirms two things:
1. They are going to buff Mewtwo again because he has a holowear coming out
2. They are going to use this as a justification for purposefully releasing broken legendaries into the game. Broken Pokemon == Money.

My dude, you just described the Mewtwo outbreak scenarios from last season. Like, it all came down to which team had THE better Mewtwo 🤷🏻♀️ and if your team didn't have one then your only hope was that the one on the enemy side sucks so much so you can have a chance to win the game.
This is why adding Legendaries to the game was a bad idea. I get why they did it, they're cool and popular Pokemon and would probably make a lot of money, but it was a really bad idea design-wise. If you make them too weak then that's weird because they're Legendaries, and the alternative route they've gone for is to make them really strong, as they realistically should be, but it puts the balance of the game through hell. Obviously putting Legendaries in the game and making them balanced is the best couse of action, but Timi has clearly shown themselves to be unable or unwilling to do so. It would have been much better if Legendaries were only added as objectives.
Mewtwo isnt the only legendary in the roster.

Were you not playing Unite when Zacian released? It was disgustingly strong on release, just like both Mewtwos. Even still, all three of them are really, really strong, and the potential for Mewtwo buffs due to the battle pass is frightening. Even though I love Mewtwo, I was saying from the moment Zacian was announced that adding it to the game would be a really bad idea.
Also Mythicals haven't been quite the same level of overbearing as the Legendaries in the game, as they've been treated differently since the game's release as can be seen by Zeraora. Even though Mew and Hoopa had their times being overpowered, it wasn't the same kind of overpowered as Zacian and the Mewtwos.
This EX is such a shoot yourself in the foot move. First of all I paid for all of these, and now I feel like I could barely use it. And on top of that it seems like it’s the automatic leader since as the most stats… just throw the game away
not only they will be broken, they will also be balanced between each other: smaller pool where no character can be negletcted and needs to be strong as or stronger than other god tier mons
I'm glad I don't really play any more if this is the direction they're heading in. This is the most based possible take on such a change. Herding players into certain comps, potentially permanently nerfing mons that don't mesh well with the OP 'Ex' mons, giving one random player a massive boost in comparison to the rest of the team. I feel like this bakes a certain meta into the game essentially forever, which isn't great for a 'live service' game.

Here comes the EX meta 😭 and I agree with you. Without the EX already they are so overpowered even after getting "nerfed" multiple times. The overpowered legends also make it hard for non ex releases too. Best example is blaziken. It was obliterated by the mewtwo meta

Even in vgc, the use of restricted pkm is a mess: every time a couple restricted are allowed, you basically NEED to have one of them on your team, and you will be forced to build the rest of your team around it. In SV, there were a couple of online tournaments where you could bring either Koraidon or Miraidon, and basically every team had to have one of them. It becomes very stale pretty fast.
Moreover, if they want legendaries to be overpowered, they could bring them to the game as bosses/objectives, instead of playable characters (they already did it with rayquaza, zapdos, and articuno). It makes little to no sense to forcefully keep a couple pkm overpowered just because they are important in other games. If they want to make them playable, then they could add an event or a map where you could catch and use them (hmmm, where did I see it before?).

EX is just the dumbest concept possible, while they're limiting it at 1 per game, it basically forces you to choose one of them, and when they release something else broken that falls under this category, it also limits your options for counterplay Against it

Bro even in VGC there are cycling formats so that you don't have to suffer with box legendaries in every single meta. Only legendaries like urshifu, cres (lower lvl legendaries) are allowed, nd that to depending on the format :)

That change could be good if Ex pkmn are only allowed in like a format like unranked or if there are two different ranking one with and on e with out Ex pkmn.

Mewtwo was not negligence. Right before Mewtwo X, Devs had a "we're sorry for Zacian" letter. Then right after that, they release Mewtwo X and Y. That's not negligence, that's them/Timi digging their heels saying we only pretend to care.
"Just make balanced releases, whether legendary or regular pokemon." -We've been screaming it all year and even before that. And they couldn't care less. Blaziken needed the buff, but Mimikyu? They forgot to over-overtune it so why not make shadowclaw have less cooldown. Oh, playrough is invincible now? Cool.
Finally someone gets it, it's pretty simple. Bad player picks Mewtwo Y, no good player can pick a legendary, that's bad. It also forces them to balance the legendaries separately or some of them will be useless. Mew is probably an EX Pokémon, it was recently buffed and a legendary. I really hope they add more defenders, almost no one plays them and there are way more attackers.
This is the most wild concept coming from TiMi moba games, and I've played the other two. This is just on whole another level, even for TiMi lol.

Yeah now this is gonna create some pretty stagnant metas because there's gonna be a limited number of combinations of pokemon that are going to work with ex pokemon. I would have loved to see more creative team comps going forward considering it seems they are trying to shift the meta from sp-attack to physical. I get that legendaries are inherently better in thr main series games but this is a moba It's a bad call considering they don't add type match ups ( I'm not asking for type match ups it's just the same premise as the legendary pokemon being op)
What you’re talking about already happened. It was Mewtwos on both teams almost everytime since its release. I think it could be interesting down the line like you said, and differentiate unite from other MOBAs
Thats true but if all existing EX-pkmn are overpowered it cause another problem -> If a new EX-pkmn release its gonna even be more overpowered than the existing ones or else no one would buy it. That means that in future there is a potential the balancing is even worse then after the Mewtwo release.

this change barely effects casual and professional players. but the players that like to grind or climb ranked, will be the ones that get impacted by this the most. i personally dont want to play any of them and i just imagine what if the rest of my team doesnt want to play any ex pokemon also. now were just disadvantaged because none of us wanted to be forced to play a pokemon we dont enjoy playing? now sure in the future when they add 10 more ex pokemon im sure there will be one i enjoy but still to be forced to play something is awful. i really hope the ex tag is just a dumb gimmick that they added because theyre legendary pokemon and its fun/cool to say only one legendary per team but theyre still equal to the rest of the pokemon in the game.

I agree, adding an ex tag is a bandaid to a much bigger problems. It shouldn’t matter if the Pokémon are legendary or not, the Pokémon should be evenly balance. There should never be a “press a to win pokemon” This doesn’t fix the overall problem, which is that Zacian and Mewtwo are overpowered and broken for no reason.
Those pokemon however are already inherently broken and it would kinda suck if the nerf just makes them do no damage until its enough to take them out of the meta. I think this is fine but they just need more exs. Like mew would be a good one to add since the kit is unique

100%.. This is all so weird, makes me wonder what's the actual point on having 40+ characters when none of them will matter in game? And with any Pokémon game to ever exist, let alone a MOBA. It shouldn't matter if it's a Legendary or not. A strong mon should only be as strong/skilled as its "trainer".

It’s so stupid too because once more, ex Pokémon come out, it’s going to be a race to see who can get it first even when you all equally paid for it😂😮💨 And on top of that, you would have to decide quick which one you would pick because everybody’s going for a different legendary. This is so stupid.

The only hope is that they are going to keep them balanced as they are right now(not they legendary pokemon are close to being balanced to begin with)and they just limit the use of legendary pokemon
The moment any of them underperforms (Look a Mewtwo-X, because his play style leaves him open to get CCd into hell) they're buffing them again, and that's not gonna be pretty.

Man, I uninstalled the game between Inteleon and Mewtwo’s releases. I had good fun with Inteleon, but the matchmaking just made the game unfun overall regardless of how I felt about playing the characters I was playing as. Too many bot matches and too many unbalanced matchmaking games.
Then Mewtwo was so broken and ruining the game that I was glad I’d stopped. I kept watching gameplay and had no urge to come back.
Now with this EX mechanic, I will never come back. It’s not worth the headache of playing in an unbalanced state like this will be.
The only way this works is if ex pokemon are banned from tournaments, but that won't happen.

The "team leader" idea seems like a cool neat idea but doing this ON TOP of making the Pokémon meant for that to be a "team leader" stupid easy to play the person who's the apparent leader should be someone very experienced on a high skill ceiling Pokémon that's hard to play instead of the leader Pokémon that anyone can pick up and play with little experience and dominate

Bruh, this is going to mean that one team will have the busted legendary and the other won’t, lol, just based on how people choose their mons. Kinda like the team with Mewtwo X versus with Mewtwo Y back when Y was giga broken.
Here me out:
MewTwo, Zacian, and other Legendaries should’ve been Boss Creeps like Regis and Raquaza that if you killed you could transform into them and get there Moveset for a limited time or until you get KOed. If Unite wanted the Legendaries to be really strong, this would’ve been a more fun and interesting approach, but now this EX idea will definitely change the game in a very negative way leading way to huge balance problems in the future. I see this as the beginning of Unite’s decline.
Also, I already knew Unite would continue making bad decisions because the Emblem system in Unite is honestly so bad imo, and when they released it, I just knew they would continue making bad choices.
Eh emblems are..... actually nevermind they're impossible to balance, but I love them for the complexity and variety to offer. That being said, I think an easy solution to all this BS is to stop blaming the legendary Pokemon's status for them being OP. God's sake Mimikyu and Inteleon currently shit on both Mewtwo's in the meta rn. Just massively downscale and rework them.

This instantly makes the game 1v1. Is the ex player on my team better than their ex player. That decides the game 99% of the time. Whatever non ex players does. If the play diff between the two ex players is mismatched then we are screwed. Solo Q will die

I saw everyone on Twitter saying it was a good change, but I was thinking the same thing as Phil and I’m not even a super good or pro player. Idk if these players are just terrible at the game and want to blame the Pokémon, or what, but this didn’t seem like a good change to me, even for a second.

I recently started playing again (I am a Season 1 OG) after the mewtwo y nerfs and I really liked the latest patch, I was hopeful the game would finally move in a better direction. But if this is the road they wanna go down, I might just leave the game for good.

Hoopa is a Mythical, not a legendary.
Mythicals pokemon like Mew, Victini, Shaymin etc aren't as broken as legendaries like Arceus or Calyrex Shadow-Rider.
In fact the two pokemon i have mentioned have been banned from their respective metagames from when they first appeared. Meanwhile Victini is UnderUsed and Shaymin is BARELY staying in UU, same with Jirachi.

If they make this change AND keep the balancing for legendaries this dog shit then yes it is the worst change in the game. If they are able to properly balance the game and also add this EX thing then honestly I don't really care. Most legendaries are fun for a month or two and then you wait for the next hype release. They should just balance the game. Idc what Pokémon nerd complains “Oh this Pokémon should be the best in the game because it’s legendary.” This isn’t a regular Pokémon game. There aren’t even type advantages, the Pokémon models themselves are just cosmetic. Legendary or not, the Pokémon should be balanced. The only difference I really think legendaries can have is unique abilities, like using Aeos Energy for attacks or Mega-Evolving during the game. But even those need to be balanced and have defined the meta when they haven’t been
