Despite the lack of relative popularity of this album, I think this is my favorite one, if Jack were to go back and redo these now that he's advanced I'd be absolutely blown away.
His voice has matured so much, he sounds so young here. His evolution of vocal range and skill is amazing, but his singing is still angelic here. EDIT: Sorry for the toxic replies section! This isn't under my control, and I'm sure everyone here is nice people, they just haven't represented themselves very well. :)
Mindsight reminded me of memories I've suppressed so much I forgot they existed. It reminds me when I would cry or scream when I was much younger, and my mom would hold me tight and put on music. She would sing along with the music and hold on tighter and tighter to me until I calmed down. We'd normally just start dancing after that, like nothing happened prior. I miss you mom
Mindsight was the first song on this album that made me burst into tears. I find it overwhelmingly sad more than anything. Like childhood frustration/not being able to scream in a dream coming out all at once.
Whenever I hear it I feel both sadness and fear. Realizing the lyric’s meaning makes it more depressing and the music makes it more fearful. I could just imagine a villain of a movie/anime/whatever with a tragic backstory slowly going insane with this playing in the background (I sometimes imagine a character named Risotto Nero from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure slowly becoming insane with this in the back because of his entire Squadra dying and him being the only survivor). That aside, I love the way you interpret this song.
what makes it worse is that on first listen i thought it was a cat. then it started brutally screaming at the top of it's lungs. At that moment i realized that In fact, that was not a cat
A year ago one of my best friends took his own life. We lived in a homeless shelter together and went through a lot of things together, and one time when we were having a really good day he suggested this playlist to me, since we already both loved Jack Stauber's recent music. I loved it, it was genuinely unique music style that was very nice. When my friend ended things, I listened to this playlist and had a total breakdown, I was completely emotionally wrecked and couldn't believe he would just leave me. We planned to finish watching Avatar: The Last Airbender if I ever visited once I had left the shelter and gone back home. A few months later I find out he's gone, and this is all I have left of him besides our texts. Thank you so much for making this music Jack, it means a lot to know you were a place of comfort for my friend even though he felt so pessimistic and hopeless about life. Now it's helping me cope with the loss of him.

I live how the first song of the album is called ‘smooth’ while the last one is called ‘curl’. Sometimes albums don’t really feel connected- that’s not the case here.
I love listening to Jack's music while I do my schoolwork, been doing that actively for nearly a year now. And to most of his music I just end up straight ((vibing)), bopping my head to it and just getting distracted way too easily This album is literally perfect for things like that, bless your music, man Plus, it's a really good album to just calm down during quarantine, since I panic quite easily over my work and the due dates, and other life things, and just being scared of the future- It just snaps me out of it
I love how I stop crying after listening to jack stauber’s creations/songs. Watching his short films are funny too, like “that’s so funny” and “pb&j” they make me laugh every time. I would be way worse than how I am now if jack never existed, I’m glad I found him before everything went downhill
For me, it is him talking about a girl with trust issues and has had a troubling past. And she has become good friends with him But, he doesn't want her to be dependent on him because he doesn't feel good enough for her, and doesn't want her to get involved with the problems in his life. It seems to me he feels out of her league because he says stuff like, "doesn't know she's beautiful." But that's just what I get from the song.
I listened to this album with my dog before he passed away about a year ago. I'm glad every time I listen to this I remember him :) Rip Milo. You'll always be in my heart. 💕💕
I love all of jack staubers music. Really unique and had a great vibe no matter what anyone says. Only discovered him recently but its a favorite now. Keep it going!
Smooth was the first time i heard a song about Jack Stauber i didnt know he made it until recently nowadays this man is my favorite musician of all time
There's a video somewhere of Mindsight playing over pictures of liminal spaces, and I think that's the perfect imagery for this song. It makes you feel uneasy, yet there's this haunting beauty to it. I know some people can't listen to Mindsight because they're scared by the screaming, but for me, it's one of my favorite songs from Jack, if not period.
Runaway made me cry so hard I've been trying to cope with my heartbreak for a while now, and something about runaway makes me want to hold her so tight and never let go. God, I don't know what I'd do without Jack.
@@fuiii_ man, I completely forgot about this comment! Everything is great now, I’m happy and healthy and with someone that I love. Listening to the album and just naturally through time, I was able to move on and grow as a person. And of course, I still listen to Jack!
Every album you have is so mystically unique and amazing in their own ways. I started listening to you a month ago and inevitably got hooked. You have grown a lot from what I've seen and I know for a goddamned fact you're not gonna stop growing for a long time. When you get on the radio, I'll actually listen to the radio as well. Can't wait for that day.
hey, thank you very much for making this album! I am truly grateful to know your songs even thought I am late. all of the songs really commit a different energy, but The Diverge ones really touch my heart and one of the songs that has ever made me shudder so much. This might be irrelevant but the tunes, the guitars, and the screams in the song, reminds me in the times where I felt grief and heartbroken, which is now. Again, thank you so much!
I really wish I could find an hour version of windrag. I use it to calm down, and the story is quite sad. Definitely an underrated masterpiece of Jack's.
I'm not crying you're crying, honestly though listening to this guys' music helped convince me to start back up making music of my own after I stopped a few months back, keep up the great work man
hey Jack I just wanted to share how much I love all your music, it's always really amazing to listen to whenever I'm in a bad mood cuz it just lifts my spirits hearing how beautiful it sounds. so thank u ♡ keep being u
Love your stuff jack it really helps me and my mental health a lot! I was In the hospital for a bad anxiety attack and I couldn't listen to your music in the hospital and i was really sad but when I got home I immediately started to listen to your music
This is beautiful, its the kind of music to be listened to at night, a slow and joyful noise for the neverending darkness,. The sky above me likes it too
the start of runaway is literally pulp's "happy endings" my ears wont stop hearing pup... its also crazy that i haven't listened to this album or any jack stauber for 4-5 years. this stuff was my art mix.
Wow, you are so incredibly underrated. It's always the bad music that gets really popular isn't it? Great music like this doesn't get the recognition it needs. Please don't stop making music.
@@miaoo9373 its all mostly shit, most of its rap, and it all sounds similar, then the other is country music, and whatever else somehow finds its way up there every month.
This brings back so many memories. Back when it was me, my dad and my brother. Homeless and slept in my grandma's place till she got tired of us and kicked us out. It was hard man but I was young and understood nothing. So I would sit in the back of the van listening to this song I downloaded on some dodgy website. It was night time and runaway and smooth were on repeat. Good times. We were in a bad place but nothing can ever recreate the vibe of child me listening to runaway on a cold California night while in the back of the van.
Mindsight (12:10) is very dark and twisted... It sounds like a baby/person is crying for it's life and that's a bit odd... The song is good???? but why the screaming and crying Jack???
Jack Stauber is definitely one of the biggest reasons I want to become a musician and make music, I just want to make stuff that people enjoy and it feels like Jack does this the most with his music
I cannot explain how amazing Smooth and Curl are. They make me feel happy, lonely, sad, hopeful, and nostalgic all at the same time. Theyre beautiful songs
Sorry for my poor english skill This album is epic! SMOOTH gives us nostalgic feeling about our old friends. The intro is also good. WINDRAG There was airplane accident. The airplane fell down to the ocean. But the pilot survived. This song contains the memory of accident survivor. The sad feeling and lyrics make the music emotional RUNAWAY " I "(he) love " you "(she). But she doesn't love him. He keeps following(chasing) her ,while she keeps runaway. He often misunderstand her behavior(ex, 800pages book), and that's make him believe she is loving him. The chorus part and repeating rhythm was so good. MINDSIGHT The kid(suspecting)is always crying during the song). And considering with the lyrics, the boy probably missed his parents. Eating sweet taste and salty taste together is good, loke this music.
I like how near the end of the album, the songs are named "Diverge" and "Curl", which for some reason remind me of greiving, they leave you and your paths "diverge" and you "Curl" up and cry missing them.
Windrag gives off so many vibes, it’s both sad and scary and it makes me feel like it’s the end of the world or something, but somehow it’s my favorite. Jack stauber is a national treasure.
listening to this late at night make me feel comforted in the way that your alone but feel like your being hugged and listening to thiis right before sleeping makes me feel like having a existential crisis
I was listening to this album casually and when Mindsight played i felt this insanely visceral just…. discomfort. Like, dear god, that brought back a lotta stuff that i sorta wish i could forget. times as a young kid, still undiagnosed, suffering from sensory overload that no one could understand. screaming and crying because i was desperate for people to take me seriously, yet often not believed because of how quickly i could come down from such a breakdown. i was a child who sobbed, yet adults believed i was faking it or doing it ‘for attention’. i was like 6-7 years old. i couldnt fake it even if i wanted to. i didnt know how. i only knew how to cry and try so hard to get it across.
Mind sight may be one of the greatest songs I have ever heard. Its like raidohead and the man who sang tiptoe frw the tulppies had a baby and there's jack. His use of his voice is amazing in this song truly

The screams in Mindsight I didn’t even realize were there until I looked in the comments and...yeah it’s so hard to listen to, especially since whoever’s crying and screaming sounds so young and it sounds so genuine. Reminds me of the Worldcorp shit.
Am i the only one who like loops windrag and then sleeps to it? Also, this is absolute talent, his newer stuff hits different after hearing this, specially the micropops.

*SMOOTH*
Gold ran the autumn sky
And often we would fly
Above
Arms out on the freezing sun
Our jackets held us warm
As dancing leaves would form
Walls
We'd take each others hands and we would run
Goodbyes and see you soons
Most every afternoon
Made
The lonely nights a bit easier to take
You took a downward bend
Night swung you back again
Learn
It takes a lot to watch a person break
Those lakes of ours drying up
Even though we kept trying, trying
Smooth hands that I'd been stripped of
I knew the ground till I was flying, flying
Every inch that we grew
And everything that we'd do
Planted seeds
Throughout the weeds
And when It reached the sky
It was a mile high
And I'll always know
There’s ground below
3:18
*WINDRAG*
No flight tonight on Red-Set Airline
Although the flights were meant to be
There was an accident
All of the meanings bent
And the 45 crashed into the sea
Red alert below the hurt will go
If you let it inside you don’t survive
Let the station captain know
That the pilot's still alive
I used to listen till the morning
Then crash-landing came without warning
I really tried my best
But the trip was put to rest
Can't sleep now the birds are chirping
Red alert below the hurt will go
If you let it inside you don’t survive
Let the station captain know
That the pilot's still alive
7:20
*RUNAWAY*
You keep your distance that's for sure
You led me to believe you're an open door
But when I reached for your handle I learned otherwise
You handed fiction out in paperback
Eight hundred pages
Lined from the top to the bottom with the words come here
When I'm nice you’re disinterested
When I’m an asshole you're offended
You’re a lure with no prize
A chase with no catch
You're perfect
Runaway
Though I'm never gonna lock you down
You're always gonna be around
If I follow slow
You’ll wait up for me
You're to blame
Runaway
There’s a problem with your temperature
I did my best
I tried my best
To warm you down
But you froze my thermometer
Your time is a magical thing
Like this curse that you put on me
If you aren’t willing to give me yours
Why should I waste mine
When I'm nice you’re disinterested
When I’m an asshole you're offended
You’re a lure with no prize
A chase with no catch
You're perfect
Runaway
Though I'm never gonna lock you down
You're always gonna be around
If I follow slow
You’ll wait up for me
You're to blame
Runaway
If my mind could turn back time
I'd find myself and warn him that
You're perfect
Runaway
Girl some day
I'll find a way
To break away
From your luring eyes
You’re to blame
Runaway

Return to your houses
Over the Eastern waters
Sun shines over roses alone
For the flow
They see you waiting for the show
Are you coming back okay?
I wander around
Seeing faces that I know are
Unfamiliar
To others in hiding
Guess through the lens
Mystery is festering all around

Chemicals wash on guilty shores
She knows that locks are frequent like your

Staring games won’t freak her out

How all you need in life is satisfaction
Asked for kindness, still it rained
Asked for mercy, still it pained
Wonder if she’ll ever learn
Wonder if she’ll ever think to
Pick the flowers from the tree
Doesn’t she know she isn’t safe with me
Silent hours
They relax us
Mirror glass is getting dull
Doesn't know she’s beautiful
Don’t lean into her she will contract
Asked for kindness, still it rained
Asked for mercy, still it pained
Wonder if she’ll ever learn
Wonder if she’ll ever think to

There's a video somewhere of Mindsight playing over pictures of liminal spaces, and I think that's the perfect imagery for this song. It makes you feel uneasy, yet there's this haunting beauty to it. I know some people can't listen to Mindsight because they're scared by the screaming, but for me, it's one of my favorite songs from Jack, if not period.
Video : ruclips.net/video/8Fwa30CQpzA/видео.html
The screaming makes the song work better. I wouldn't be as good without it.
Runaway made me cry so hard
I've been trying to cope with my heartbreak for a while now, and something about runaway makes me want to hold her so tight and never let go.

Man, Jack never fails to impress me in both his current and old music. He is truely wonderful
he is one the greatest
hey, thank you very much for making this album!

The song is good???? but why the screaming and crying Jack???
ikr that sound beats better, coral and shattered molars. its the most disturbing things ive heard from any of his sounds or albums

I cannot explain how amazing Smooth and Curl are. They make me feel happy, lonely, sad, hopeful, and nostalgic all at the same time. Theyre beautiful songs

SMOOTH
gives us nostalgic feeling about our old friends. The intro is also good.
WINDRAG
There was airplane accident. The airplane fell down to the ocean. But the pilot survived. This song contains the memory of accident survivor.
The sad feeling and lyrics make the music emotional
RUNAWAY
" I "(he) love " you "(she). But she doesn't love him. He keeps following(chasing) her ,while she keeps runaway. He often misunderstand her behavior(ex, 800pages book), and that's make him believe she is loving him. The chorus part and repeating rhythm was so good.
MINDSIGHT
The kid(suspecting)is always crying during the song).

This album from JackStauber really makes you feel like your in space when you just close your eyes and you feel the music with all your senses.
so basically jack stauber is a genious
