      Also...it is cruel and really, REALLY hard to watch and feel powerless.

    *Welcome to MY HOUSE* Love it! Also, love the snowy campus footage--such memories! Not that my college campus ever got snow, but those little winding paths, lol...and I just can't believe you were doing all this with all that pain and aggravation. Extra hats off! 🎓🪖⛑

      It was tough. Honestly it was worse than tough it was horrible. But something I’ve come to recognize is what we disabled badasses push through every single day.
      Ricky pointed out I don’t notice because it’s my baseline.
      I always appreciate you and the support. It means a lot. Thanks for showing up for me. 💜

      Thank you Jess! Ya know, when we put ourselves online there is always a little good with the bad, right? It is what it is and I actually got a lovely DM from this person saying they were sorry. Bad joke.
      Oh Texas! I have had some serious love for Texas. Family in Houston, Ricky and I have tried to get jobs in Austin multiple times. Love love your state! 💜❤️💜

    Love that this unfiltered series is filtering the peeps who aren’t here for you.
    I’m sure your family and friends sigh in relief when you were approved.
    While January has been a tough month for you I’m glad it gave you experience (like going back to teaching) and milestones (like the promotion) to be beacons of light during a gloomy, stressful, and painful time.
    I’ll say it again, you are a rockstar!!!!

      Everyone needs a you in their lives. Get you an Esther people. And subscribe to her channel in the meantime! 💜❤️💜💯

    So happy for you getting the insurance approval. No one should have to go through what you did in order to get approval. Kuddos to you and a shout out to your caring, supportive partner. Thank you for sharing ❤

      Thank you @maryellenblount6376 !! For everything I’ve gone through and continue to go through, I’m very fortunate and try to remember that every day. Gratitude can be hard when times are tough, but I try.
      I can’t thank you enough for watching and joint the conversation. Means the world. 💜

      I have to be careful when drinking coffee *currently having those regrets in the past few days lol* Because it does a number sometimes. I can usually do 3 days or 4 straight coffee days on a good day. This past week not goign that way. ( because of my own different disability it affects my gut too. )
      Barrett 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 To you.

    Yay for the approval!! So glad and it took long enough. As far as persons go, mine is my best friend, B. She and I met at age 13 and she's been there through everything she's my carer, and while we're just besties, I've been the other parent to her enby. Mx. K is 19 and I have always been their parent even with no blood relation and their mum and me as friends. B is definitely my person and I know how lucky i am to have that! ❤

      Joey, I love that relationship. That is real friendship. Thick and thin. It doesn’t have to be romantic, just a person who sees us, gets us, and cheers us on!
      B sounds awesome. 💜❤️💜💯

    (regarding the "too much information comments")--> Yeah! If you don't like it, there's the door! lol
    I am loving your content, not the fact that you've had such a hard time with insurance BS, but there isn't enough crohn's content from patients out here, so I'm so happy that you've started talking about it again. 💜
    Edit after finishing video: Barrett, you can't keep making me cry in these videos lol

    • @BarrettLaurie
      @BarrettLaurie  6 месяцев назад

      So, thank you friend. Yeah, right. I’m like, I don’t choose the body giving me the flaming diarrhea, but I’m not gonna not talk about it because someone gets squirmy…naw. Like have they ever watched me? Not really my brand to not word vomit most thoughts that run through my brain. 🤣
      And for the crying. I’m very emotional these days. I blame lack of sleep, dehydration and frustration. But feeling very, very fortunate.
      Heart you friend. You get it on so many levels. And poor Tiff for those group texts sometimes. 💜💩🤣😂🤦🏻

      Deal. Rachel, I appreciate your support more than you know. Would love to have you on the podcast if you’re comfortable. Avatar mode is fine, as some folks don’t like live video. But would love to talk your IBD journey if you ever want to share. 💜

    OOF, the commenter discussion. Yeah, you're one TOUGH 🍪, Ricky can attest!

    • @BarrettLaurie
      @BarrettLaurie  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, again I think it was meant to be funny. I expected the purge of AT folks from my comments and subs, which has tracked.
      I stand by what I said, not mad at folks who move on because I’m not in the niche anymore, just don’t need the TMI comments. Not helpful.
      And yes, I am so lucky. He’s my rock and so great for me on so many levels.

    • @MargaretPinard
      @MargaretPinard 6 месяцев назад +1

      That OOF was actually for the commenter who asked about the relationship question! But yes! "Goodbye to all that" as Robert Graves said... @@BarrettLaurie

    • @BarrettLaurie
      @BarrettLaurie  6 месяцев назад +1

      @@MargaretPinard yeah, that was heart breaking. A lot of comments on those videos hit you in the Ooft. Because it’s heavy stuff. And people get so vulnerable which inspires me to do the same.
      And yes to the quote! Exactly.

    I’m sorry to ask but did your fissures ever healed?

    • @BarrettLaurie
      @BarrettLaurie  6 месяцев назад

      Fistulas, and yes. I had two draining setons placed and were in for a year. Once my Remicade infusions had been going for about 10 months, the setons were able to be removed.
      So yes. They healed and have stayed good for two years. I have had some unpleasant Crohn’s symptoms along the way, but the fistulas stayed away.
