I think the rake method is the easiest one out of all the lock picking tools. All you do is run it back and forth fast and apply pressure with the other pick and with most simple locks a beginner could do it with less than 30 mins practice.

That key will only unlock pin locks and not disc detainers, combination locks, dimple locks, lever lock or warded locks. A city rake will open most pin locks especially the training lock you used which only has one pin you need to pick, and the easiest to pick even with a paper clip.

"ALL LOCKS" is quite a broad statement. There will be an awful lot of pin tumbler locks this will not open at all. There are locks that are slider locks, Disk Detainer locks and more. The concept you have made is basically what is called in the Locksmith world as a Rake. There are dedicated locksmith tools of various shapes and sizes for this job and combined there are locks they cannot open. While the concept is right the statement "All Locks" is a little misleading. I can confirm though that this tool you made will open "Some Locks".

Amazing! But here in the UK, I can imagine a policeman coming along at the worst possible moment and asking you what exactly you were doing! Another way of opening a door, destructively to the lock, is to use a drill to make a hole where the key would go and stick a screw in, this is one of the ways criminals used to break into cars, before alarms were common.

    • @paulrevere8581

It really isn't, stick a drill bit down the keyway will accomplish absolutely nothing.

They were actually police.

No one's breaking into your house or shed because of this video. It's just a nifty video showing that the tools can be made instead of bought. At the same time most people would opt to spend the $10-$20 on a basic kit.

Speaking as one who had a neighbour who "lost" 2 door keys, (before I fitted a key safe to the wall), I became a dab hand at "snapping" euro-locks. Then someone decided that it would be a good idea to only sell "anti-snap" ones, which are a nightmare to open, especially when that particular lady had broken the key off in the barrel.
As I have always said, why would a burglar waste time fiddling around with the lock, when an iron bar through the window gets the job done in a fraction of the time?
