I have a GRAY I have had her almost 50 years. I could not live without her. She talks, sings, and calls my little dog. She is to go to my younger son when I am gone. I have enjoyed every moment that I have been with her. If you truly love them they will give you the best days you have ever known.

@@migglemaggle9500 u should not judge. If her bird came from a domestic mother n not wild cought then she did right n have given it a wonderful life. If u turned it free as u suggest the poor bird has no idea how to go about surviving n nature and would soon die. N die a painful death. Don’t b so quick to judge unless u know the whole story. I don’t own any birds. N I wouldn’t for one simple fact they live a very long life. And they require a great deal of care. They get sick easily. Dogs r much easer to care for. So I have fur babies. My best friend has a parrot n that’s how I know some about them. N the expense and dedication it takes to have one. So again don’t b so harsh on ur judgement

These beings have the intelligence a 3 to 4 yr old human child. They have very strong family and social bonds and pair for life, have their true loves.
They understand pretty complex concepts and trauma does scar them like it does for us.
Not that these beings or any of our wider family need qualifiers to be treated with compasion, but that anyone could do this to these beautiful souls is beyond barbaric and cruel and it is our duty to protect them from the evils of our species. Blessings on all those that worked hard to reunite this pair.

Wow! This is practically a perfect description of what happens in human trafficking. I live in a city in the United States that is number #1 in the US in "H T" to see the horror in the children's and young people's eyes is beyond. This kind of behavior has been going on since the beginning, and with the advent of the shipping trade, only made it worse. We ALL must be on the alert for all who are in danger of being kidnapped and torn away from their families.

Traffickers of all living have to be stopped and sooner rather than later..

One found another home (i hope) the alternative isn’t good since I lived in the unincorporated area. I rehoused the other one to a younger person that had another African Grey. Because I knew the bird would outlive me and I had to live in a smaller house in a subdivision postage stamp lot after I got the shaft in the divorce.

I am so sick and tired of hearing stories about how humans do dastardly things to animals with no care for anything but money and probably spending it ay the local bar or casino. I am in tears for what happened to this bird and the others in his family group. African Greys will do anything for a friend or family member who needs something. Scientists did an experiment on this and wrote it up in a journal. Greys are very intelligent and very kind of given the opportunity. Other birds have also recognized this trait. A lot of other species of parrots pick African Greys to be their friends. They have a calming effect on both humans and other birds when treated right. I was lucky to have an African Grey that I loved with all my heart. I always told her how much I loved her and how she was my baby and best friend. I always had another parrot friend for her also . She always had the food she liked always had toys and fresh water. She was never anxious and never plucked. I got her from a person who loved her as a baby but could not keep her. I looked into her background and found she had been hatched in a bird store from a wild caught pair. Felt so sorry for her parents but at least she had
been allowed to stay with them and her siblings for four months. She was the a wonderful bird and I would always have a Grey. She could talk to me and understood me. Ashe would even ask me if I was OK when I didn’t look right. She was never destructive nor destroyed my things. I thank you for saving and reuniting these 2 Greys. I do believe however that they should live in a huge aviary and have a family. That would be more natural. Hope those poacher gets what is coming to them and more. I have read that in some parts of Africa these birds are completely gone. More than sad. If the government would get rid of the poachers they could return some of these birds to their natural homes in a breeding program like they are doing with the Spix macaws. Greys are intelligent and emotional and sensitive and kind. People who have them should treat them with love and respect. and not take them for granted.

We have breeders, so why do people buy parrots that are stolen? We have rescue groups, too, so why not find a reputable breeder? I'll never understand, why people would want a traumatized bird. This is just so sad. When people are not educated, stealing for money would be tempting.
God Bless Betsie, for understanding this bird, and acting, and Dr. Mitchell, for his deep dig. St.Gall, Patron of Birds; pray for us.

But anyone that has established a relationship with any pet knows, you have a bond that can never be broken. As long as theres compassion from the human, the animal never fails you.

I don't have an African Grey parrot, but I do have a domestically bred. Yellow nape Amazon, I I have had plenty of interactions with Greys. All parrots are exceptionally intelligent, sensitive, and monogamous. If they have no bird mate, they will bond with their human carers, which is a huge responsibility! You not only need to feed them properly, and give the abundant fresh c!Dan water and a very clean environment, but you have to interact with them for several hours a day, provide enrichment, toys, and foraging games for them. I won't get into the debate about clipping wings. I don't like it, but most of the time, we cannot provide A safe environment for fully flight ed avian companions and keep them safe from injuries. MOST people are not equipped to care for these incredible, intelligent creatures, and in captvity, the cannot live their best life. Unfortunately, those bred in captivity are not able to survive in the wild, and so we have the responsibility to care for them as well as we can (or better!)

I’ve heard about this trafficking, the cruelty people show to animals and their fellow humans is beyond my comprehension. I love African Grey’s. A local store sold hand raised birds and had a beautiful Grey. He seemed to like me and would sing and dance when he saw me. He always tried to steal my wedding rings. He would carry on until I let him grab it. He was so cute, holding the stone in his beak, head cocked, looking in my eyes. I wished I could have bought him, but I had 4 cats and a huge dog in a small house. Someone else did take him, I hope he’s doing well, is happy and loved.❤

I cried through out this video. We think animals don’t remember and they do. Dogs do too. My dog went through horror his first two years of this life and he is now 11 and once in an awhile I can see the panic in his eyes. And he tries to get small and shivers and looks terrible. So be kind to animals. These birds don’t deserve this ever

She doesn’t fly very much arthritis in her wings she tell you they hurt when she does. She stays with me all the time. Goes to the store, yard work about the only place she does not go with me is work . Sometimes I even bring her with me. She is a friend and a family member can’t imagine be with out her.

The pair of aviary birds are captive bred and are very young, as seen by their black eyes. The initial grey in the video is a mature grey and captive bred. These birds shown are props to tell the plight of the despicable wild-caught trade in parrots, but certainly not the Grey this story revolves around. Wildcaught parrots, especially greys GROWL and SCREAM when frightened near humans and anything other that is alien and predatory is within his/her sight! Thank you for exposing the brutal heartbreaking wildcaught trade in parrots and know that all exotic wildlife, both avian and mammal suffer huge trauma. It is evil greedy crime against nature, against conscious sentient beings!

I had an African Gray years ago! He was purchased in New York! Very Young still bottle fed. I had no idea the place was not legit until I became an Animal Advocate. I'm sure this
Dark Concrete Establishment was not legit. I bottle fed Petey until he could eat on his own, I fed only the best of Fruits, Nuts and Supplements! He would want to Regurgitate food and feed me, he thought I was his Mom. He called my Daughter Heather and told me, " I Love You Mommy" then my Husband and I divorced and he wanted to get rid of Petey. I begged him to let me keep him!!😢😢 he wanted the money it cost for the bird and it's huge cage. So the best I could do was I asked an advent bird handler who was very knowledgeable of many different breeds of Parrots to buy Petey and all that went with him. He accepted!! I was Very Greatful Petey would receive the BEST CARE AND LOVE UNTIL HE PASSES. I was still Devastated, had hand raised him myself while my Husband worked. I Hope he lived a Great Life and didn't miss me too much.😢

One of the pet stores near me had what I believe was an African grey parrot it had several perches and was aloud to Rome the store…one day the workers were going to clean the perch area.. they call it to “mount their shoulder “ But it came to me instead and slept on my shoulder while they cleaned its area.. I guess it felt safe around me 🤷‍♀️😊
