Glenn Danzig is one of the great songwriters of our time. Most people won’t recognize this fact because of his chosen genre. But make no mistake, Glenn Danzig is a genius with a pen.
Danzig has a preference for heavy, dark music but as a songwriter he really can do it all. Super underrated. Not to mention he’s one of the greatest vocalist as well.
Unfortunate more people don't know about this song. It helped me through one of the toughest times in my life. Thanks to Roy,Glenn, and Rick. Fucking beautiful, man.
+notwhile imaround not really all that hard to imagine honestly...prior to this being released in '87 (to me at least) Roy's influence was always there in Danzig's vocals...granted Elvis was a much stronger presence, but Roy definitely was in there too.
If by some wild chance he ever does there will be 1001 fukn rappers already in, look at the efforts it took to get more deserved bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden in... Sarcasm
2 ships passing in the night. The HOF committee will continuously overlook him and others like him. Rebels, true to themselves and rock and roll. Glenn will continue not caring about what people and groups have to say about his work. Save for his fans. Myself among them.
December wind came Roy's way. I was born dec 5th 88 Roy died the next day . I'm happy I got at to share at least 1 day on the same earth as this legend. Wish I could of seen him live.
man.well said.danzig went full circle.any more albums hopefully will be primal samhain type stuff.i think he should fake his passing because you know the mainstream money would roll in and he can get the respect and payday he shouldve gotten long ago.he doesnt really give a fuck now but itd be a cool story.especially when he resurfaces
I get chills every time I hear it.It's really sad how he,like so many others before and after him kind of predicted his own demise with these lyrics.Rest in Peace Roy.Even after 20+ years I still miss you something terrible.
Roy was my dad’s hero , I was brought up listening to the big man my dad called him . Life fades away and in dreams were played at my dads funeral which brought everyone to tears , miss them both as were a big part of my life RIP Roy & Dad xx
Impossible not to love this man. In many ways he's the core and essence of rock. And ... probably the best singer ever. I miss him every day; a great yet humble man, a genius, a true star of a type that doesn't exist anymore.
I don't really think you can class Elvis and Roy in the same way. Roy's far more operatic and emotional, whereas Elvis is much more of a positive, rockabilly, showman (in a good way) singer.
SO VERY TRUE ROY LIFE FADES AWAY. ROY ORBISON YOU WILL NEVER EVER FADE AWAY.THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE NUMBERS ALONG WITH RUNNING SCARED-- CRYING. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE A LEGEND. GONE FAR TO SOON. MAY YOU R.I.P.
I'm suprised Glenn never did his version of this. He did his version of 13 after her wrote it for Cash and Cash recorded it. Side note: Danzig's Come to Silver was also written for Johnny Cash, but never gave it to Cash.
Amazing 'Glenn Danzig'!! Never knew that one, for the Roy fans, he was originally from a band called "The Misfits" a punk rock band :) Roy of course was already a legend in his own right.
Awesome. When i was around 5, my daddy took me to Roy Orbison. When he started singing Pretty Woman I said, "I thought you said he was blind. How does he know Im pretty?"
I consider myself lucky and enriched to have witnessed the Misfits twice, Samhain several times, and Danzig . . . I lost count. I also consider myself lucky to have grown adult sons who respect and enjoy some of Glenn's music! (Now I get to see what my grandkids think!) To remember how much crap I received from adults, heads/stoners, jocks, preppies(Boehmers they were called, as opposed to us towners) AND EVEN some fellow punks for being a huge fan of Glenn's. "Elvis" and/or "Morrison" were comparisons they attempted to disparage Glenn with! Ha! My standard reply "so 2 legends? that's your putdown?" Later I would smile inside and out when Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison would throw accolades at Glenn. Fuck man, the studio REQUESTED Glenn audition for the role of Wolverine!!! Even some suits from Hollywood offices thought Glenn was the closest thing to a mutant anti-hero! So, in my gray years I can snicker whenever I think of how many haters went at the man's throat, and in some way it's inspiring to see how he's endured and succeeded. In some way it makes me feel fucking great. Fucking Legend, man. 👹👍
Well said man! You know it I have to say if Glen ever sees this comment he would probably totally agree 💯percent I Remember the days we were considered out cast or punk kids totally getting the stink eye by corporate types ect.glen showed the whole Freaking world how no one could stop him from being real and talented he really is a star in his very own universe ,his music still is being discovered and effect on ppl it never faded or went out of style my son likes a couple of his tunes 👍now that's talent and a true original ,there will never ever be another like Glen Danzig 😎
Glen Danzig wrote a perfect song for THE Perfect singer!!! Orbison's voice was pure silk! Thank God RDJ cleaned up....this movie could've been his life story.
So ya mean like from lord of the rings ,ya man I agree the dwarfs were excellent in battle tactics and the best fighters hail The king under the mountain Thorn Oakenshield Son Of Thaine 👍😎
My father loved Roy, he passed away on Thursday. I found this treasure to play at his funeral. Just beautiful.
God bless you and your father
Beautiful friends. Funny how Roy has brought us all together. We ARE family.✌🏻🙏🏻
Wow. Love it
One of the best things I've read all day, God bless your Dad
May your father Rest In Peace, & May the music you both love help to heal you.

This song proves your comment. 😉
“I got something to say…”
Yet he can’t write a good movie script somehow
He’s a living legend
@@sourdust6558 well I’m sure lomonosov didn’t dance too masterfully…. Danzig is a great songwriter and singer - that’s enough.
Danzig has a preference for heavy, dark music but as a songwriter he really can do it all. Super underrated. Not to mention he’s one of the greatest vocalist as well.
Agreed Glen is a legend like some others he actually made it all the way to the top! what a move 😎
Danzig is not a great vocalist lol. Not throwing shade. Love him, but c'mon.

Yes.
Roy Orbison hits notes Waters dreams of. Olympus on high.
Floyd has better songs overall but vocalists don't compare.
Glenn is gotta b one of the most underrated songwriters out there and songs like this prove it.
Yes ma'am
That was a beautiful statement Joshua! Hail Danzig! & Hail Bellah!
Joshua Bellah The Misfits songs are unjustly maligned. The melody and hooks in those tracks I would kill to be able to come up with that stuff.
Joshua Bellah Your damn right Glenn is one of the best bands out there
❤️❤️❤️ TOTALLY WHOLE HEARTLY AGREE!!!
Unfortunate more people don't know about this song. It helped me through one of the toughest times in my life. Thanks to Roy,Glenn, and Rick. Fucking beautiful, man.
roy orbison and glenn danzig??!!..now that;s a collaboration I would have never guessed!!..but ...bravo!!

notwhile imaround mind telling me who is who when they sing ?
Brian LaMaye I actually find Orbison a stronger presence in Danzig.
You know danzig idolizes
Roy and elvis...jim morrison
writing skill of orbison + charisma of elvis + voice of morrison and 0 fucks given like morrison = danzig
Danzig has done more for rock than he will ever get credit for.
Damn straight, Glen is Elvis and Jim mixed in one amazing artist. My favorite out of all.
Too bad he's such a douche. Amazing music
@@AClark-jx9zp I think Danzig has a huge amount of Orbison in him.
JubileeGiggles Most great musicians are douchebags.
@@AClark-jx9zp He is actually more Elvis and Orbinson
One of the GREATEST SONGS!!! That only a few have heard.
I was a teen and heard it in the Less Than Zero soundtrack. It's been something I've turned to a lot since then. It's comforting.
And nostalgic now.
At midnight I came across this song. Moments before midnight my uncle passed away………… forever in my memory. Rest in peace tío!!
It's a comfort.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
Damn. I haven't listened to too much of Orbison but this song is amazing.
ROY HAS HUNDREDS OF SONGS JUST AS GOOD AS THIS ...

Glenn right is under rated at everything ... he´s one of the greatest in punk/post punk darkness (Samhain) / hardrock/ Metal etc ... legend !
December wind came Roy's way. I was born dec 5th 88 Roy died the next day
. I'm happy I got at to share at least 1 day on the same earth as this legend. Wish I could of seen him live.
Roy Orbison knew a good musician. Funny how Rolling Stone and all those mainstream outlets in the early 90's gave Danzig no love.
GhostShock yep.fuck those mainstream britney timberbiebert loving fuckheads.they should eat poison
You're going to have to give credit to Rick Rubin on this one.
Danzig and Orbison, what a team, love it.
The Misfits, Samhain, Danzig, Black Aria, gems for Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison.. Glenn is amazing.
So expansive and versatile
