    I think you were referring to my comments about exposure from painting. The fumes will absorb through any exposed skin so you have taken pretty good care to protect yourself from that but the full face mask with the dual cartridges is not really any better for inhalation exposure protection compared to just the nose and mouth dual cartridge respirator. The problem is the cartridges will not give 100% protection from the fumes even when new and then you add the fact that you and every other painter does not know when they become saturated and most do not even change them at the recommended intervals. Yes they are better than nothing BUT You need to protect yourself and the best is SUPPLIED EXTERNAL AIR. The small mini compressor with small hose to your face mask. If it is cost that concerns you you could modify your current mask with a small 1/4 inch bulkhead fitting and buy a cheap air diaphragm pump and small hose to your mask. You, your family, and all of us want you to enjoy long term good health and by not protecting yourself properly you are definitely jeopardizing it !

    Harbor Freight makes a set of 6 ton truck jacks that are only $80. You can jack the car almost 27" off the ground it will help with two things. It will make the lower part of the car easier to see and easier to paint. Second it will keep dust from blowing up onto the lower part of the car. With that being said your "bad" paint job is 1000% better than anything I can do.

  • @patchmack4469
    @patchmack4469 Год назад

    always lessons to learn while painting, i think you done an admirable job there Marky and as you say a little rushed, an obvious answer to that, give things more time
    the bumper clearly has some faults, these are created as the liquid plastic is injected into the mould in various places at the rear and where the liquid meets and possibly cools at a slightly different rate, causing a little shrinkage, while most manufacturers will only except top notch bumpers (and components) a lot of near good, slight seconds will get out into the market, how a lot of things end up on eBay as factory seconds
    i was always told to paint the awkward to reach places first, spray undersides of bumper, turn it so you can see, then turn it back to do inside edges, and upper surfaces, i see with some spray guns now have a torch fitted, super idea, might save missed places down low, while the average lighting is pretty good in spray booths, its often too much, reflections can throw you very easily, and obviously why we generally do two coats of colour, i personally hate adding the second coat as its so difficult to see where you have been previously, but then there's often a wet finish against the dry matt finish
    don't over reach while spraying, don't take steps while spraying, i.e. stand at centre of door and do even steady sweeps, fairly slow depending on the air flow, overlap the spray by at least half, in other words keep the paint wet on following line, an easy mistake as the air passing over wet paint tries to dry it out, and of course be aware of runs
    you do an excellent job Marky, i for one would be pretty pleased with your efforts, sure Don would be pretty chuffed and probably rip the Michael out of you at the same time (Micky take) sure most customers would be pretty forgiving

    Hello again. Yes if you buy a factory supplied air it might be a thousand or more but when your lungs or liver is F that probably would have been a cheap price to pay . Watched my uncle the painter on O 2 bottle for a couple years and then die in intensive care not being able to breath for the last two weeks. Yes suffocated until he died . I only wish I would have been brave enough to end his suffering for him. I worked in chemical industry in industrial hygiene and on analyzers for most of my adult life so know a bit about this. You could make your own for a couple hundred bucks. You already have air hose and can adapt your current face mask and would just need to buy a small diaphragm compressor used for aquariums or I think model or custom painters use them. Block off the current cartridges and install a bulkhead fitting on the mask and hook the hose up with a couple air hose quick connects . There is your cheap system for a couple hundred bucks or less. Every time you paint with the shit you are currently using your exposure is accumulative and your long term health is being jeopardized.
