“I’m Not Lisa” was unquestionably Jessi’s biggest hit and was actually recorded in 1974 and released as a single the 2nd week of January in 1975! The song went to #1 on Billboard’s country chart in ‘75 AND crossed over to the pop chart and peaked, again in 1975, at #4 on Billboard’s pop chart. Thus it’s amazing to me that Jessi wrote this song, likely in 1971, and performed it here on Hee Haw. This episode of Hee Haw originally aired the last week of February of 1972. Regardless, this is timeless television and I’m glad we still get to enjoy it over 50 years later!
Jessie was so in love with him. I have to admit I enjoyed his music more in his wild and rowdy days. With Willie and the rest of em'. I don't know what it was about it but it just felt different. Perhaps it was that his habits hurt his heart and it played out in his music. Anyway, it's good he sobered up for both his Jessie and his kids as well as himself. My sister was crazy about him after she saw him at a concert once and again a time or two. I used to laugh at her and tease her about it. When the song song " I'm Not Lisa" started making the rounds boy I really got her going! Lol! Maybe I shouldn't have teased her, because she was so shy and quiet. My sister's name was Lisa. It was just so funny to a little old 14 year old tomboy.
He had to be an outlaw. Country was getting soft. Waylon rescued Country music and then Country music rescued him. So did his beautiful wife. God bless Waylon! GOAT!
Waylon was a good looking and a great singer and song writer l loved him I’m glad he got off of drugs l miss him he was one of my favorite glad I can still get him on here to see him Love you so much miss you ❤❤ ❤❤
@robertshmidt9083. I AM IRISH MYSELF BUT I LOVED THE LATE GREAT WAYLON JENNINGS. I APPRECIATE GREAT COUNTRY MUSIC SINGING AND GUITAR PLAYING ALSO, WAYLON HAD IT ALL .TALL SHAGGY HAIR STYLE, SEX APPEAL, BODY ETC( .BUT PLEASE CAN YOU ANSWER ME ONE QUESTION, WHY ! DO PEOPLE LIKE YOURSELF CALL WAYLON, OLE' WAYLON, AS HE WAS TAKEN AWAY FROM US ALL FAR TO EARLY IN HIS SHORT LIFE AND CAREER, AND HE WAS ONLY EARLY( 60 S).WHEN HE PASSED. Ole’ Waylon was a title to an album he recoded in 1977. That album was the FIRST country artist album to ever go Platinum. So this is where Ole’ Waylon comes from.
@@dash8oneotwo THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH INDEED , ALL YOU GREAT WAYLON JENNINGS FANS OUT THERE. FOR ANSWERING TO MY QUESTION ABOUT OLE' WAYLON. I AM TRULY GRATEFUL TO EACH OF YOU FOR SHARING YOUR THOUGHTS ON WAYLON WITH ME .HE WAS AND STILL IS THE GREATEST AMERICAN COUNTRY MUSIC SINGER OF ALL TIMES AND AS I ALREADY POINTED OUT, NO ONE SHALL EVER BE ABLE TO COMPETE AGAINST HIM IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE. HE WAS WONDERFUL, GENIUS, AND A TRUE LEGEND .. NEVER TO BE ABLE TO DUPLICATE AGAINST. KINDEST REGARDS TO YOU ALL, ELIZABETH OVER HERE IN SCOTLAND ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I could listen to Waylon Jennings when he was just getting started or when he was about to retire from singing . I sure miss hearing him sing. My Brother Milton loved to listen to Waylon Jennings and Jessie . My Brother Milton loved Hee Haw , he never missed an episode .
Thanks for sharing! Waylon, hands down best country male singer ever. His rocking songs were fantastic and his ballads seeped into my very soul! Love Jessi, too, her songwriting was great.❤
Just on the brink of the Outlaw movement, and here we have a key ingredient into Waylon's sound to be, the addition of Ralph Mooney. He was to become as much of the Waylon sound as Waylon's Tele and Ritchie's bass drum. I never tire of seeing the formulation of Waylon during this period, and it's no doubt my favorite era of his before he came fully commercial with the label and the brand.
This has been one of my all time favorite performances since I first captured it on VHS when it was rebroadcast in 1993 as an episode of "Hee Haw Silver" on Saturday night! I love that technology has gotten to the point where I was actually able to take the original mono audio and completely remix it as though I had RCA hand me a 16 track 2 inch from 1973!
@@waylonvids Lovely work as always 'waylonvids'. It's always great seeing this stuff and seeing it come alive! Thanks for keeping ol' Hoss alive and kicking' my friend :)
But she was the one, The one he needed and for him like a glove. They will always be my favorite couple in music. Their love for each was genuine. Loved WAYLON and miss not being able to hear him sing live in concert.. The kids and grandkids are all talented too.
As I make it through all the legends of the past, I’m starting to think ole Hoss might take the top spot for me. Was a George jones disciple forever but this dude is just different and way cooler than George jones. Imo. Also, through some of these shows, keep coming across vintage dolly and can’t believe how amazing and talented she was. What a bomb shell too. Yikes.
Within the next 12-18 months Waylon would meet two totally different men. Neil Reshen and Billy Joe Shaver. This would be the catalyst for the explosion of OUTLAW COUNTRY. 🧨💥🧨💥
Waylon looks and sounds great. I love the Good Hearted Woman and Ladies Love Outlaws LP’s, his 1970-1972 era. Jessi sounds great in this song.. Was a big hit for her
Well I don't know what all that lady in that last one was saying about all used phones and stuff but he was one of the best singer-songwriters out there or lose them all George Jones who's going to fill their shoes
By miles the greatest coolest outlaw to ever come around don't belive me ? Read about the school bus they painted it black and waylon had a case of dinamite he used on pepole that stiffed him !
I was at this recording. I was a child. My father worked for Waylon at the time. It was recorded at channel 5 in Nashville
Had a relative who worked for Waylon
AMAZING - What a memory!!!
Waylon’s voice feels like sun-warmed dark honey made from tobacco blossoms and goosebumps.
Lol that sounds about right!
Waylon was ,Is and always will be the greatest
Love this time period in his music... what a gorgeous man he was❤❤❤
I love his long hair! Either way he was a hunk of burning love!
