hi.. how about if dataset #1 have attachment, and dataset #2 also have attachment, lets say dataset #2 in a input and #1 is a target. i have try append using your method. it's work but only spatial will merge. attachment not bring together. any idea?
In ArcGIS Desktop, you have to append also the table that keeps attachments, which is in the same geodatabase and same as your layer name with the suffix __ATTACH. Hope it helps.
Append is used to append the data to a existing layer(it is not going to create a new feture class). Meanwhile when you join two layers a new layer will be created and the new layer will have new schema of attribute table.
