One of a number of classic novels thought of by many as a simple romance, Jane Eyre is steeped in Gothic themes of imprisonment, loss of sanity, haunting, and so on. I won't recount the plot here, except to say that the cast is very nice in this one, with Sophie Thompson as Jane, and Ciaran Hinds as Mr Rochester - and not for the last time, as he reprised the role opposite Samantha Morton on television some years later.
MYSTERIOUS MAGPIE is a channel devoted to ghost and horror stories on British radio, and to dark tales of every kind. I have another channel, MYSTICAL MAGPIE, which is all about stories of fantasy, mythology, and adventure: / @mysticalmagpie-wo5fn

Thank you for uploading this. I had heard Ciaran Hinds had done a radio version of Jane Eyre and his version of Rochester was better than his charactor in the movie version (which I own on DVD and watch often). My goodness, they were right. ♥

Yes, I like Hinds a lot in this. I have another version of Jane Eyre on the channel, also worth a listen - Tom Burke does a very good job as Rochester in that.

Hi. Thank you for the uploads today. I love this version of Jane eyre. I also think that wuthering heights by Emily Brontë and north anger abbey by Jane Austen are very haunting novels too.

Today I edited the 2016 version of Jane Eyre into a single file for upload - you've probably heard that already since it's so recent but as you know, I like having multiple versions of things. And that version starred Tom Burke as Mr Rochester, and he's always good...

Huge Bronte fan , watched Emily yet I feel “ walking in silence “ is more accurate of the Bronte family . Jane is so like Charlotte as Charlotte Bronte small in stature & Charlotte had a unrequited love from a Belgian man during writing this classic

Yes, I've heard a lot of Eyre fans say they prefer this interpretation to his TV performance...

Nelly is manipulative in Wuthering heights as bessie is here in Jane eyre so they must’ve had somebody that had affected both of them in this way because both the orators who are the housekeepers are incredibly Machiavellian and spiteful to the main characters BESSIE is cruel to Jane and Nelli is cruel to Heathcliff - Bessie “ you have less right to be here than the servants “

Hi. I’ve just thought of a radio drama that might fit the theme of the channel. It’s called and when you sleep you remind me of the dead.
