      Their mower is all made in China (battery, charger, mower itself), Positec USA is the branding they use. I plan to open up the 60v battery soon to see what is special inside.

    CAT's getting into all markets eh? Didn't know they were heavily into the power tool market as they are. Looks like red and yellow may have some serious competition. The Graphene battery technology sounds very promising and user friendly with a 20 min full charge time. Thank you for bringing unbiased, highly educational videos like this to us and asking manufacturers the right questions! Enjoyed this one.

    One thing I noticed and confirmed on the CAT website is only the GX5 5AH battery is Graphene. All the other capacities and starter batteries you might find in a kit is Li-On based. My guess is Graphene is still hard to shrink and deal with thermals but perhaps we will get 2ah and 4ah batteries with Graphene duty cycles! Also a 10ah offering in Graphene would make me seriously consider switching. Knowing I could use a battery for a decade and still have plenty of life left? Bonus points if they stand behind those numbers with a good warranty.

    Kress sounds cool. Having the 8 minute recharge for someone in the field is great. We all know how Minnesota weather will definitely impact the longevity of the batteries. So that'll have to be discovered. The 20-minute use might be down to 10 in harsh weather conditions. Not perfect for all applications, but a great start for a future without cords or gas cans. Potentially less need for ear protection or respirators from all the exhaust fumes.

    Like every other new cordless entry, the problem is market penetration. These companies need to consider doing buy back/credit to get people moved over. I started with Dewalt, and at this point I have 8 batteries from the 2 to 9ah, and 10 tools. Even if I liked something here, I am too far in to start switching. Graphene charges fast, that's great, but I have 5 chargers and all my batteries so I can simply reach out and grab a fresh battery whenever I want, as you never use 10 tools at once (as a homeowner).

    • @larrylass4268

      I am also locked into a set of cordless tools. What I would like to see is either a affordable universal battery or adaptor so I do not need to buy a new set of tools when the old technology is phased out. I have a drill, circular saw, flashlight, and saws all that are dead because the company stopped making tools and batteries in 2016. Sad it is part of a disposable society.

    I got the Cat hammer drill/impact driver combo from amazon, got it for 248$Can during prime day. It comes with 2x 2ah battery, a charger and a case, great deal when on sale. I Tested the impact driver and I wanted to know if it could unscrew the lug nuts on my Kia forte 2010 (torqued at 70 ft/lb). Not only it could unscrew lug nuts at 70 ft/lb, it was able to unscrew lug nuts torqued at 150 ft/lb...the maximum of my torque wrench. Those Cat power tools are no joke! To save wear and tears dedicated mechanics should use the DX72 impact wrench for everyday use. But for bi-annual tire change the impact driver can do the job.

  • @nabob14
    @nabob14 Год назад +2

    The number for saving with the blades is off. This is for a new blade each time you cut. As the blade wears, it will no longer cut the pipe in 46 seconds... and it could possibly take longer to cut than the bonded abrasive blade (it more than likely will at some point)... I'd like to see the comparison after that blade has cut a bunch of pipes and see how it degrades.

    • @Originalcatdiamondman
      @Originalcatdiamondman 3 месяца назад

      That’s not the case. The Matrix holding the diamond grit is designed to wear across its full 10mm depth throughout the lifetime of the blade. Each diamond particle is able to withstand over 250,000 impact cycles and wears in unison with the erosion of the metal bond. Therefore the more you use it the quicker it becomes as the diamond becomes more prominent out of the metallic bond holding the particle in place.

    Wow, I had sticker shock when I saw prices, but they tacked pro in front and new battery technology so expected.

    Home hardware in Canada carries these tools, they are built really tough and the battery tech is awesome, but they do cost more then red or yellow but it must be the battery that drives the cost up, they look interesting, I would let the pros put these tools to the test and see where they are in a couple of years.

    Milwaukee, Makita, Bosch, Dewalt, Flex, CAT, Hilti, Metabo are all the "pro grade" sector of tools. A lot of competition. Some are going to fold or be sold.

    Bought a Cat labeled RP 7500w generator new, I asked about buying a spare carb for the unit and never got a straight answer until about 3 months later when the rep admitted they were no longer selling small portable generators.
    they dropped the entire line so fast the servicing dealer didn’t even know about it and when the parts gal tried to order a carb her dealer portal was gone

    There has to be a few rock and rollers out there. Is it just me, or does the blades guy sound exactly like Rob Halford from Judas Priest ?

    Graphene is the most exciting innovation since Lithium Ion. Fast Charge, Long Life, High Power Output, and Low Temperature Sensitivity. I bet it is nearly as big of a jump from NiCad to Lithium Ion.
