This doesn't just have "some off-road potential". This thing is an off-road beast with the right tires. There are several reviews with them being thrashed and they are up to the task.
You are a local honest reviewer to myself. I think it’s the reason you are building a great following of subscribers. Each review is in depth and you give details on How the bike feels to ride etc almost describing the sensations to the perspective purchaser wanting a better review than the so called you tubers who are just after ratings. Myself I’m getting closer within the next few months on purchasing my new bike a 2020 model, your review on the Versys 1000se is still the best review I’ve seen. The tracer is out of the running due to the single headlight working on dipped beam so I will let you know my choice in Feb / March. It might be a bike that you haven’t had yet in the 2020 variant there’s a clue. It’s between 2 bikes both are top and tick all the boxes for myself. I will in fact be team green once the purchase is made. Thanks again for the spot on reviews. Mark
Great review. Mine is doing average 65mpg after 1000 miles so a decent tank range. Green lanes are a breeze. Selling like hot cakes. Outsold gs1250 in Germany in November, but guess it's a new bike. No brainer for your average adventure rider 👍
Good review as always, you'll give the Missenden Flyer a run soon ! Like it that you run a bike and give revs at speeds and gears.. As a tourer important I know how hard an engine is running at say 70mph
Costs a bit too much for a "no frills" bike. I like the maintenance intervals. MUCH better than the Tiger 800. I suspect many of those owners are getting tired of dropping $1,500 on valve inspections every 12k miles. This will be my next touring bike.
You should include city riding in your test routes so that we know how the bikes are in filtering, moving around in cramped traffic and full stop moving in parking, etc. So we can get a feel how the bikes are in daily living. Cheers and more videos to come.

Love the no-frills simplicity, does all the important things brilliantly. Long time coming but looks like it was worth the wait! Lovely looking bike and great review thanks Mark, it will be interesting to see what the sales figures look like Vs the 650 Vstrom... Have a great Christmas and thanks again .......
I have the same bike and colour great machine but don’t waste your money on the aftermarket exhaust, there is not much difference in sound from the stock exhaust which sounds great.
Has so much but.....for the want of a 20 litre tank and more fat on the seat. It’s a long way between fuel stops down here, down under. Love the look. The Husqy will give it a shake though, depending on price. A real good bike Yamaha.
Hi Mark ! Please allow me a silly question: I'm a 78 years old experienced rider, looking for a last-in-life new bike, downsized to 200 kg. Which one would you say would fit me: a CBX500X or a Tenere 700 ? Thank you for an answer !
I would rather call it "an offroad bike with touring capabilities" and not the opposite. The comfort is not good for longer trips. There are aftermarket seats and windscreen to buy but as it is now it is definitely more offroad oriented.
The base is okay, the rest is very revisable. The driving gear is good for the road. The rest must be revised strongly for Offroad. The teaser videos promise something that won't be held.
Mark, Great video as usual. What did you think of the narrow & flat seat on the bike? Would a seat upgrade be required for long rides in your opinion? Ride safe.
It was ok ...I think for two hour rides then a rest it's ok but if there is an easy upgrade seat available then you'd want that if you were going proper touring on it :) Cheers mark

Before Covid, eh. If this bike had tubeless tyres and was 100 cc more, it would really rival the KTM 790/890 Adventure. I must admit, though, it already has enough low-down torque, and it is relaxed enough at 4,000 rpm in top with lots left for top gear overtakes. Bikes have come on so much since my Africa Twin 750 days.

Very thorough review. Only downside I can see is that it is a tall bike for the vertically challenged like me. I'm similar dimensions to you. But I guess if it were lower you wouldn't have so much suspension travel and ground clearance for off-road riding. How's the Trophy doing? Thanks as always.
I'm thinking about selling my Z900 for a adventure bike. First I was thinking of a KTM super adventure 1290, but why need such a heavy bike. Your video almost set me for trading it in. Soon gonna make a test ride and hoping for the best! Also heard the engine is almost bulletproof.
I want a more offroad bike than the tracer, was thinking about one! That's a good idea, trying a triumph. But for a adv, is less electronic better? Less can break in the dirt.
