This movie is called All Quiet On The Western Front, and basically this guy (Paul) and his friends got convinced in a classroom to go to war, so they did, and when he came back to the hometown years later from war, he came into the classroom, where the kids just once like Paul and his friends. He explained to the kids that they were falling into a trap and how war is just hell... This is the reality of war man...

I think the 79 version was more faithful to the book, but the 30 is the better movie.
