Tulum is both awesome and it sucks from my experience - both can be true. I always say I love it in spite of the instagrammy, pretentious, annoying aspects. I hope that soon the instagrammers and party crowd will forget Tulum exists and move on. When we first came to Tulum about 12ish years ago - it was a dream. Very little traffic, amazing beach - just surreal. I would like to see it return to that - I doubt very much that would happen but one can dream... I do think there's a good chance that if I visited Tulum for the first time now, I'd hate it and be turned off completely... So I understand those that feel that way...
