I've heard of Shelly before, but this is the first time I've actually heard her sing. I can see why Shelly never made it, in spite of her being in the industry for most as long as Selena has ! It's very obvious that Selena is the bigger star !
Shelly is actually pretty big here in San Antonio..and throughout texas.. as well as Elida Reyna and Stefani Montiel... but out of all of them Selena was the more popular one.. but they were all pretty well known... and of course after her death became internationally known...
Outside of Texas, Tejano music is quite dead. Selena basically put Tejano music on the U.S. map. I never heard of Elida or Stefani; thus, they must not be all that good. And as far as Shelly Lares, she's been around for almost as long as Selena, and to this day, she is still not famous, outside of Texas. So to me, she hasn't made it. And if she has not made it after all this time, she's never going to make it ! And after watching this video, I can see why. Shelly cannot hold a candle to Selena. Shelly does not have star quality.
