Next generations of communication networks will be heavily based on computing not only for what concerns network function virtualization and network programmability but also for what concerns in network computing and edge cloud continuum.
WIoT invited speaker Professor Luca Valcarenghi, Associate Professor at the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa, Italy provides a bird’s eye view of the research activities conducted within the Networks and Services area of the Institute of Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, and Photonics (TeCIP) of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna. Particular attention is dedicated to the research related to Zero Touch Networking, Confidentiality Preserving Failure Detection, and Virtualised Network Function Acceleration in Smart NICs. Finally, how telecommunication networks might boost Telemedicine is highlighted.
