I don't know why it is so hard for people to realize that we are not that far removed from the enslavement of Africans. I'm 47 years old and in 1985, I met a man who was born in 1894. His parents were enslaved Africans. My dad was born in 1930 and my mother in 1936. My grandmother's brother (on my dad's side) was born in 1894, fought in WW1, died in 1981 and I remember how he use to have me with him all the time. My grandparents both were born in 1904 and my grandmother's father (my great-grandfather on my dad's side) was born in 1867. He died in 1950 and my dad use to tell me how he was always with him and how quiet and reserved he was. Why is it so hard for people to believe that these are still recent times and that we should forget it????

I am a 67 year old Black female. I fought racism in the Mortgage Banking Industry for about 30 years (alone). Listening to you now, I wish that I had this outlet back then. Although, I am very light-skinned, I was harassed more because I called out the racism. I am retired now, but saddened by what is going on in Rap/Hip Hop. I have subscribed today because this channel is giving me hope again. Love you both. Real and funny, two gems.
