In Zappa's universe, anything goes. He'd use any genre and combine them in any way he'd see fit. He also loved to troll people, even his fans, pushing boundries, waking minds to, what he called, alternate entertainment. He was a virtual smorgasbord of musical excellence.

Frank Zappa is about freedom of speech. In today's world I see our freedom of speech has been taken away from 50% of US citizens. We need someone to challange for our freedom of speech today, as Frank did then

You have to listen to both albums to get the meaning of the madness. It is a comical send up of government policies and how government agencies are seeking to gain more and more control of our lives. Even our sexual appetites are fair game to them and providing access to sexual fulfillment gives government an avenue through which they may control the things we think, do and say. The entire Joe's Garage set was recorded during the period when congress was debating whether or not banning certain albums because of x rated content should become a government policy. Frank appeared before congress and argued very eloquently that what the government was attempting to do would amount to censorship and would violate free speech laws protected by the Constitution. His testimony by all those who heard it was comparable to that of a seasoned Constitutional lawyer. In the end congress chose to provide warning labels on objectionable albums instead of banning them.

This song makes a lot more sense when you listen to the whole album, there is a whole over arching story with plot twists, heart break, and great revelations you should check it out.

One other thing, Frank's son Dweezle tried keeping it going through a band called Zappa plays Zappa but unfortunately his siblings hit him with a cease and desist order after suing him for copy right infringement since they all owned portions of the estate.

I watched - Joe's Garage is a Rock Opera a bit like The Who's "Tommy" and like "Tommy" it's weird as f. Honestly I dont hate it because at least the weirdness has some sort of meaning in service of the overall plot of the Rock Opera. If I remember correctly all the guitar solos are actually re-purposed from older Zappa songs. See I can say nice things about his stuff. It's the stuff thats just crass for the sake of it that disappoints me because the guy was way more talented than stuff like the Stinky Foot song. I'll never agree it would work mainstream ith todays generation because it's inherently designed NOT to work for the majority of people.
