Bungie thinking that abilities are the reason that pulses are top of the meta is absolutely mind blowing to me. They have literally been absolute top of the meta since messenger released. Faster ttk than everything but a sidearm. And you can peek shoot it from 40m. Like. It’s not hard to see why something would be so strong.
When they said that this was how they wanted primaries to be like, I was livid. They nerfed not forgotten many times when it had less range, less forgiveness, and the same ttk that high impact pulses have now.
@ i also think the majority of Bungie employees aren’t seeing the top end of the skill curve. Good players are two bursting the majority of opponents. This also aligns with mercules saying he thinks 450 aggros are the strongest archetype in the game lmao.

@fissilepear7805 Fr. They went checkmate only to then make weapons do higher damage. It is basically the same, but I have 230 hp instead of 200, and handcannons hit for 74 instead of 69.
Sidearms have always countered smgs. Aside from when target lock was broken. On console hand cannons aren’t even an issue either. It’s all pulses in console.
@ TTK isn’t everything, lightweight SMG’s/sidearms would be the meta if it was. And I don’t know to many good bow user’s that just challenge in the open, they’re usually playing to cover like a HC, but do massive damage and reward a player for being less accurate/not going for a precision shot (in reference to this bow specifically).

Sidearms gets shit on by weapons that 1 shot like fusions slugs and pellets. And bygones gets a .6 ttk and is the second most used primary. And the most used primary type is 340s which have a .67 ttk. It might not be everything but it’s a big deal for most
@@nichowo totally agree, I was just making the point that a fast/slow TTK isn’t everything (in regards to bows specifically), and as you noted, forgiveness of TTK on something like a 340, position for that optimal TTK, is easier in this sandbox than it is for some SMG’s/Sidearm’s that have the same optimal TTK. My main point being, that a slow TTK on a bow doesn’t make it abysmal, as most the time you’re playing at range/to cover, so achieving a double body kill is often times far easier than landing 3 precisions with a scout, etc. Side note, fusions have needed adjusted forever, but I don’t see anything happening to them because they’re not as popular as shotty’s, etc. I mean, slugs even, the body shot damage at range that they do is ridiculous.

It's so lame. I want to use handcannons but even rose struggles against bygones, graviton and other burst pulse

I think Bungie should change 340 pulses to fire slower between bullets instead of slowing down the time between bursts. It would nerf TTK without significantly changing how they feel. They’ve shown they can do it with Graviton Lance, so it’s not impossible.
If there’s any nerf to come to 340 pulses, it should be a reverting of the intrinsic trait buff. In the past, 340 pulses would get the accuracy bonus of their intrinsic for crouching while stationary. Essentially, it was firmly planted when crouched and standing still. Now, you can stand up and strafe at a moderate speed and keep the accuracy buffs. I didn’t think they needed the change for the get go. If there’s any nerf to come, it should be the intrinsic trait buff.

Then prismatic came out and I loved pvp before this and I started to play less and less because of this. Now it’s just prismatic and wallhack exotic and pulses. Literally the most miserable boring fucking meta I’ve played in. I’m not the most cracked player but I love the passion of trials and I just wanna use my handcannon with Nessas oblation. I only get on to keep my flawless streak going but like what’s the point man. Bungie has let this go on for entirely to fucking long. The only word I can describe this is miserable. Nothing hits like d2 pvp especially trials and it’s so sad I don’t even feel like playing. Maybe I just got into pvp too late and it sucks.
I love how ntte has been top 1 gun since it released and has seen zero real changes to it or the archetype. Our subclasses got changed from the ground up before nttes turret gets nerfed from being a frame 1 hitscan 33 damage auto tracking machine

Imo bows have the slowest ttk that why they have a high skill ceiling. Skilled player can counter bow user by teamshooting or bum rushing the user 25:11 when it comes to corners the arrows have a huge hitbox and hits some corners when you didnt even aim at and gets stuck floating in the air

Since the 30th anniversary (the best age of D2 PvP since forsaken) every change seems to lessen and lessen the skill gap. Cheese aim for you guns and abilities that give you brain dead kills. I love destiny and the abilities are what make it iconic. But we need a reality check. Let’s take smoke nades, they slow, weaken, ping radar, blind on void hunter they can be used for invis and on prism you can get radiant just from a tag and invis off a kill. Diamond lance and knockout actively reward the player (giving them a lance) for not getting a OHK with a shotty or just shooting a few tags and then going for the follow up melee. What the fuck happened to checkmate in general? Is bungie just starving us out right now so when the next PvP update comes we’ll be jumping for joy over mediocre/late changes? I get you need the player count as a business investors and all that shit. But why not make d2 comp the checkmate sweaty gunplay mode? The players the current sandbox appeals to won’t play comp anyways. And if they do they’ll get ran without their crutches! That turned into an essay rant but I figured under this video would be a good spot. I know my views aren’t what every single person in the player base wants. They’re my own takes. Objectively 150 meta with shotty was the most skilled meta we ever had and therefore most fun for me. I know bad players dont want to hear it, but HC are objectively the most skill primary. I put 2 diff skill players on HC and the more skilled player will absolutely destroy the less skilled player, but if I put them both on pulses or autos their performance will be much closer too each other.
@Lorentz_Driver 150s had like no range and stability back in the day. On console with low fov, frame cap and before they reworked recoil handcannons actually took some skill.

If you couldn't tell, most destiny gamers aren't very good at fps and games in general, so most would just w key and int like some bots while using sparebenders. Every time I’ve played against Mercules in pvp he’s rocked messenger or another pulse….i think they just buffing their own play styles 😂. Why don’t they bring back Hardware? Or the anniversary patch? This is what happens when the core what the game has been about last few years has been power fantasy without considering balancing for the overall game.

Smgs are garbo i got a PERFECT 5/5 adept sharuyas that is also enhanced ( just +5 stability tbh but it's still there) and I'd use graviton over even inside 25 meters. And we are talking about the best or second best smg in the game with a perfect roll and I'm also pretty comfortably around 2.0-2.5 kd depending on meta.

@ I don’t remember the movement penalty. All I recall was any movement lost the bonuses. I left the game w/ curse and came back forsaken/shadowkeep.

Honestly I hate the meta but I’m still enjoying the game. Rose feels amazing, think I could pretty much use that and matador for the rest of my life 😂
Every time I’ve played against Mercules in pvp he’s rocked messenger or another pulse….i think they just buffing their own play styles 😂. Why don’t they bring back Hardware? Or the anniversary patch? This is what happens when the core what the game has been about last few years has been power fantasy without considering balancing for the overall game.

love my little asian man but nicho, dropping a 1.1 with an smg on jav might be a skill issue. I mean I get gunned by a few smg guys and maybe they're on the pack but they really don't seem that bad to me

Smgs are garbo i got a PERFECT 5/5 adept sharuyas that is also enhanced ( just +5 stability tbh but it's still there) and I'd use graviton over even inside 25 meters.
And we are talking about the best or second best smg in the game with a perfect roll and I'm also pretty comfortably around 2.0-2.5 kd depending on meta.

Nicho is comparing SMGs to Khvostov saying "Why would you use an SMG when you could just use Khvostov?" well that's an interesting question Nicho, why don't you? What is it about SMGs that's more appealing than an equivalent RPM Auto? This whole line of thought feels dishonest. Maybe it's the fact they're 14/15 zoom weapons that are much more useable sub 20m than Khvostov or in your case how you'd totally rather use Grav sub 25m. Maybe it actually does have something to do with Titan PKs that Nicho so quickly brushed off. I'm not sure, but you guys should be honest about why you want SMGs to be even better.
Just sounds like you guys want a high AE high handling decent range lowest TTK weapon to W key into everything with.
@@2e826idk I can ask you the same question why would think it’s fine if the longer range weapons works better closer range than their closer range counterparts. When I played the meta my kd doubled so I can comfortably say it’s easy low risk high reward to any developer who makes a game knows that’s stupid and only works if they wanted everyone to have the same skill
@ I don’t believe you’d prefer a rufus over immortal in ranges under 20m. Higher zoom makes weapons more unwieldy up close. That’s why I think the comparison is dishonest. There’s obviously something there that makes you prefer SMG right? Or else the autos would fulfil your needs to “play fast”
If you think the longer range weapon types should have increased zoom to make using them up close even more difficult I could get behind that. If you’re just ranting because you want smgs to go back to .67 ttks with forgiveness I’d call you biased. Anecdotally from my own play I think SMGs are still very usable within their intended range.
And to be clear I’m not a fan of laning metas but I get by just fine running HC/SG or Bow. I think low skill ability spam really is what’s pushing people away from engaging in closer ranges not weapons that have been relatively the same since they were released.
