I almost broke a nail clicking on this video!! I am a soloist and it’s mostly for FUNERALS!! I usually think of a song geared towards THE FAMILY, something to encourage them. The deceased can’t hear me, and I don’t know what a person’s relationship was with their Higher Power. I usually have a song in mind, however if I get there and the family is all torn up OR the atmosphere is dry, the song I had in mind is subject to change. I always ask for guidance from the Lord. I don’t like singing slow songs at funerals unless the family request a particularly slow song. Otherwise I like songs like, “It’s Alright, It’s Ok” by Shirley Caesar or something like “Hold On” by Walls Group… Thank u for the video!! Good information…

Love this advice, this is how I think. There’s nothing like going to a funeral and the singer has sang the deceased into heaven, and I knew the person’s christianity was questionable.; we all knew that. Their lifestyle didn’t reflect that at all. I was like just stick to the basics and don’t be declaring stuff you’re not sure about. Unless the family requests something; I usually sing the traditional songs as you mentioned or I will rejoice- william murphy, I have to believe- Rita Springer, I pray we all be ready-Chicago Mass, He’s able-Darwin Hobbs However, I’m looking for more songs.
