Cobie Smulders Talks Her Ovarian Cancer PSA

- Cobie Smulders, co-star of "How I Met Your Mother" and "The Avengers" series, kicks off an important movement to empower women with recurrent ovarian cancer to take an informed and proactive role in managing their disease. The movement is one that is close to Smulders' heart, as she is an ovarian cancer survivor who was first diagnosed at only 25 years of age. Smulders talked about what is new on the horizon for her in campiagning for awareness around the disease.

This hits so close to home for me. I always adored Cobie Smulders, I love her in How I Met Your Mother, she is so undeniably smart, strong, and beautiful and being her talk about this means so much to me.
I have never had cancer, however, at the age of 14, I was diagnosed with a very large cyst in my left overy that had been in my body since I was at the latest, 12. At 14, I had my left overy removed. I had to get an open surgery and it was a very painful thing to go through.
I am 15 now, still very young, but it was hard to go through my experience. My family was there with me and my friends supported me but I didn’t really have someone who I could really relate to until I’m real life. I was able to raise awareness through my friends so when my best friends step sister was diagnosed with overran cysts than she already knew what they were and how they effected someone else. When I found out Cobie had experienced overran cancer it really inspired me
