- Fairly often, I get asked which MX vs ATV game is my favorite. I want to make it clear, I really like all the MX vs ATV games, but if I had to rank them, this would be the order I put them in. I wanted to throw MX Unleashed in because for me, that game still fits into this series of MX vs ATV. We rank every MX vs ATV game in this video including: MX Unleashed, MX vs ATV Unleashed, MX vs ATV Untamed, MX vs ATV Reflex, MX vs ATV Alive, MX vs ATV Supercross, MX vs ATV Supercross Encore, and MX vs ATV All Out. The only one that I dont have in the ranking is MX vs ATV On The Edge. That game was made for the PSP only, but was basically MX vs ATV Unleashed. MX Unleashed will always be my favorite. Best soundtrack and best physics by far. Bike sounds were phenomenal, tricks were simple but had so many combos, and with all the free roam challenges could keep you busy for days. Still got my original MX Unleashed disc from 04-05.

The ragdolls in MX Unleashed were by far the best in the series. I remember shooting my character from the out of bounds area for hours on end as a kid.

I grew up on untamed, but Alive has been my go to since it came out. I wish they would've kept those physics, and I loved most of the tracks. For me the most important part of a game isn't nostalgia, it's the physics, graphics, and engine sound
#1 For me is Alive I played this game almost everyday for 2 years. I absolutely loved the rider perks like scrub master and such. I love a quick light scrub. The clutch boost was also insane.

On PC w mods nothing else touches it.
K Leon that’s the thing though. When you mod a game, it changes it. Any game is better if you can add completely custom content and PCs are so far above consoles. Playing reflex on console without mods is terrible in my opinion

Blows my mind that they didn't just make "reflex 2" after reflex, since it was so successful. They instead release alive, then their parent company goes bankrupt and all the reflex files go bye-bye. I'm curious as to what everyone here thinks the MX vs ATV series would be like now if they had continued making reflex style games. And why do you think they decided not to? Anyways here's my list:

I worked on Reflex, it would have been epic if we just continued with Reflex and just fixed the few issues it had. It makes me really really sad that we dont have a reflex game that looks as good as the monster supercross game.
Shit if they made reflex 2 or hell Remaster reflex I think I'd die of pure happiness.

mx vs atv untamed is my favorite game i ever played, racing to the music of mudvayne, pennywise, and early nickelback when they were good was fun. It introduced me to a lot of bands and really was my escape from the real world. Also mcr and afi and whatever bands i forgot to mention

Thanks for the vid! I haven’t played one of these since Off-road Fury so I’m pretty out of the loop. Excite Bike was my first dirt bike game, you youngsters won’t remember that mind numbingly repetitive classic but in its day it was somehow cool. Anyway, I just busted out the old PS3 for my niece and nephew and I wanted a bike/quad game for them - I ended up with Untamed and Reflex after watching this video. Got both for $20, I’m pretty sure we’ll get our moneys worth!
I forgot how GOOD some of the PS3 games are, they really hold up well. We’ve been playing some really old games but they’re still very playable and solid. As you mentioned, it’s refreshing to get a game and get a FULL game without needing DLC. We have a Switch and that’s my main gripe with it, the games are like gateway drugs for DLC and they’re already $60. Oh you want more multiplayer levels? DLC. More crap for Animal Crossing? DLC. More characters and boards for Smash Bros? DLC. Shameless. They’ve taken the in-app purchase model and applied it to console. As a guy who grew up on Atari, then NES, then Sega - its just wrong. In the early days of internet gaming (PS2 with a network adapter, anyone?) the DLC was usually FREE. It was a “thank you, and please keep playing” from the developer and it kept up momentum and brand loyalty. Now the game is bait, and they want to make it a lifestyle complete with monthly payments. It’s alienating and kinda offensive - like what, my $60 isn’t enough anymore? ($70 for latest gen, even) We know that the full-game-for-$60 is a profitable format, so there’s no excuse for it. I’d like to think gamers will make themselves heard on this and developers will revert, but I suspect too many people are forking over their cash for drips and drops of content - just gimme my fix man, I need a leather couch for my Mii! Ah, the good old days! A shiny gold Zelda cartridge had everything you needed inside, no more to be had for love or money.
For me, MX vs ATV Unleashed is one of the greatest mototsport games. 4-player split screen, airplanes, helicopters, monster trucks.... and the music selection was bombing. MX handling characteristics were just mint.
I use to have Reflex too, and yes it was so complete! There were everything in it: motocross, supercross, freestyle, enduro and much more...miss that game 😢
Unfortunately, freestyle doesn't exist in any more dirtbike/ atv games....Reflex was awesome
Unleashed was my favorite. I played it so much on my ps2 that the disc quit working.. and I have always taken care of my discs. So I bout it a second time ☺️

Reflex was hands down the best everyone of em after got worse. Reflex everything about it was perfect whips, sounds, physics everything i still recon its better than any mx game that has comes out they had it nailed but they went backwards with the next 3 i just dont understand it. Mx atv is All out i expected them to get it good again because supercross wasnt that bad but all out is absolutely shocking. The ultimate mx game from now would be reflex again all tightened up with some monster energy supercross stuff like bike sounds and handling but whip reflex whips and bike handling
That's exactly why I lost interest in the mx vs atv games. The newer ones somehow got worse.
I've replaced that urge to play them with the Trials games. They are entirely different type of game compared to the MX vs ATV series but each one is really good.
I grew up with MX unleashed. It was literally the second video game I ever got in my life when I was 6. I played almost as much MX vs ATV Unleashed as well, and I played quite a bit of Untamed, but MX Unleashed will always be my favorite in my heart. I’ve actually been reliving the good old days because I got it on my Xbox series S about a month ago. I’ve been hooked, I’m in the middle of my 3rd or 4th play through. That game literally got me in to dirt bikes and motorcycles when I was a young one.

i would have been about 4, best game ever
i remember going to my friends house after school and spending HOURS playing mx vs atv unleashed on his wii. then i got my own xbox and i immediately bought untamed and that’s literally all i would play.
I missed out on much of the MX vs ATV series. Was young, had strict parents, and couldn't get every new games, and then I got older and forgot about it. My first was Unleashed for the PS2. I think I remember playing Untamed, but I'm not sure. Reflex was the one I played the most. Got Alive and wasn't a fan of the more realistic physics at the time, but now I love it. Then I missed every game after that. Recently got Supercross Encore and All Out on sale. Haven't tried SE yet, but I'm loving All Out.
Reflex is definitely my most fond game of the series. The tracks, the physics, the customization, it all felt way ahead of its time for me. Spent so much time mastering those tracks. It's insane how good this game was, and it still makes every later MX vs ATV game look sub par. Speaking of story time. I think I got Reflex at Best Buy. Halo Reach just came out so this was a year or so after Reflex released, and my brother wanted to get it. I was a huge Halo fan as well, and I was super hyped, but for some reason Reflex caught my eye. I saw the cover and suddenly had nostalgia for MX vs ATV Unleashed. It was like walked into Best Buy, and there was a glowing beam of light shining on it. We were going to split Reach, but I had enough to get Reflex. My brother then got mad, but I promised him I'd give him my next allowance. He then didn't let me play Reach until my next allowance came, but I didn't care because I was enjoying Reflex so much. I think I sneaked up that first night after my parents went to bed and pulled an all nighter on a school night. Played the hell out of Reach later, but I couldn't get enough of Reflex. I was so joyous when I saw it come to backwards compatibility. Then Unleashed came later.
MX vs ATV Unleashed I probably put the second most time into. There was just so much content for such an old game. Freeroam was also the best of the series. Spent so much time with friends goofing off and simply just battling the AI in some of the events in them.
All Out is probably my third favorite. Wasn't a fan at first, but then I got the actual supercross and national tracks and have been loving them. It feels like a true successor to Reflex to me. Only real issue is just the performance. I'm on a launch day Xbox One, and it gets pretty bad, specifically on the national tracks. Frames seem like they rarely hit 30 with a couple really noticeable frame drops. Also noticed a significant track breaking bug on Dove Point where there's a chance it won't count your lap and just put you back to last place after you cross the finish line. Still, I love the tracks and the physics feel like raw Reflex. Thinking about getting the DLC soon. I do love that they have a Cycle Trader Rock River skin. My dad helps them out occasionally, typically at Atlanta, Florida, and Texas. I've got him going to Foxboro since I'm a huge Pats fan, and we go to Seattle as well since we have family up there. So Iove that they included a skin from them.
Then lastly Alive. I hate that I gave up on it so early. I still played it a bit and tried to get good, but I just never cared to use the clutch for some odd reason and that really ruined the experience for me. Going back to it though, I love it. Wish it had more SX tracks, but I love the physics of it. It's more realistic physics makes it the most unique for me. It almost feels like the physics in this game inspired the foundation for the physics of Milestone's MXGP series.

I remember being in a best buy in PlayStation 2 days and looking at buying either MX Vs ATV Unleashed for $19.99 or Untamed for $39.99 .. I got Untamed.. I had a lot of fun but maybe should of tried Unleashed.
I have such vivid memories of playing reflex and spending hours in free roam. Playing with my brother and we would spend hours racing. Insane that it was 10 years ago. I’m 18 now and I still get a massive nostalgia hit from this game.

My favorite is Untamed cuz I have so much nostalgia. I played it so much. I also like All Out bUt the frame rate is SO low. I hated Alive and Supercross. I didn’t play encore. I don’t mind Reflex. I won’t give my opinion on Unleashed cuz I haven’t played enough.

I did. Encore was still better. It took longer to get good at. Plus u could be fast without having to whip glitch or clutch boost off of every jump. Alive was still sick tho.

I just finished playing MX vs ATV reflex and I was watching this video, I am new to the series the only other game I have playing was supercross (wasn’t a big fan) and I noticed that the gameplay you showed was not from any of the maps available, is there a special DLC for Xbox with those maps or is it a cheat code? Since I didn’t see any DLC available for it on steam

untamed is #1 because of the freeride and normal maps, so many diffrent gamemodes like minimoto, endurocross and all of those awesome minigames. the soundtrack was the best any game has ever had and i still listen to some of its songs to this day. only thing i would change is the riding physics so that they would be the same as reflex is

And this is why ALIVE WAS THE BEST game they ever made 5:45 cuz it actually took skill to be good at it, you HAD to use both sticks or you will crash in the first turn. Now reflex was fun but it was TOO easy, that game is training wheels compared to ALIVE. But once you put in the time and learned the tracks and find you bike you like to ride alive was a very rewarding game. Ps all out is fuckin garbage

The amount of time I have on that game is actually insane, after school I’d hop on play for probly 3-4 hours by myself mostly on James Stewart track and just have fun. People hate on encore but it in my opinion my favorite Mx vs atv game, I’ve played, reflex, untaimed, all out, and none of them come close if you ask me
Bought my copy of Encore on a digital sale and I don't regret it one bit ! Mx Unleashed is the OG along with the off-road series however Encore was so enjoyable to learn and play out of all of them to me

MX vs ATV Unleashed was so legendary. My older brother and I would play for hours with all our friends from our neighborhood, iconic times.
I was really good at alive, and I loved that you had to have skill to win races. The new games are just trash though

And I love how personal in customization you could get with the bikes and each part and I absolutely was obsessed with I believe was a Ktm 2 stroke don’t slam me if I’m wrong it’s been a really long time since I’ve been on the game but anyway just the perfection in the noise and feel of the bikes was addicting to me and a whole new level/door for the mx vs atv games and Personally I would love to see them create another game like that

You can't put all out above Alive or Supercross only because of content. AO actually has tracks to ride

My opinion mx vs atv needs to come out with a game that has the same physics as reflex but it has better graphics and better sound with replica Supercross and outdoor tracks like if you agree

reflex will will always be my number 1. I grew up on untamed but i put soooo many hours on reflex. literally met some many people on that game in multiplayer. so fun
Growing up I had Alive and I really liked it but whenever I went to my cousin's house to play untamed, I liked it soooooo much more, always wanted to have that one instead but I was stuck with Alive, lol

If they put a track editor in all out, it would certainly move up on everyones list. They won't though, for one they are greedy, charging us for dlc, for two, they're too lazy
Same 2 stroke sounds in all out that were in alive, not the 4 strokes though, they just got worse. They listen to almost no feedback of the community.
All out is straight trash until i c a track editor, then it's just trash. If they fix framerate and phycics bugs i'll put it last on my list. As of now it didn't make qualifying
I think a lot of people would just like to see at least a solid 30FPS on consoles. I havent played it there since the newest update tho. They had said it was going to improve the frame rate. On PC, I really love the game. Not hardly any performance issues to speak of and it looks pretty great with epic settings on.
Could you make a video on why they should add a track editor, ive made videos but my channel's a drop of water n a big ocean, they would at least watch yours, i'm beggin u dude cause it's the only mx game i got. I'm broke as hell too cause i can't work anymore after i wrecked riding a kx250, it messed my back up and it's the only thing i got that occupies my bordom, help me dude, i wanta make tracks, i'm envious when i watch reflex custom track videos. We gota stand up as a community or we ain't gonna git any improvement.
