This review was biased as hell. Most consumer products are made for average size people so I would understand how a guy that is 6 foot 5 would have problems finding a treadmill and would not considered this a con, only in his case. Im sure he hit a button or the key to make it stop as to seeing how biased they were, just to make it look bad. The caloric burn counter is not an accurate representation and you would think a treadmill review guru would know that it is just an estimate. On the same exact machine with same setting the two guys would burn different calories.
The TC20 is actually a good deal larger than the TC10. I wanted people to know that of the two machines that are commonly compared, one is significantly smaller. I know the calorie counter is an estimate. I didn't need to stop the TC10 to bias the numbers. It's fitness 101 that walking on an incline increases energy used. Naturally the treadmill at an incline will estimate higher calories burned. There's an easy test to prove it. Just look at the heart rates. Oh, wait...TC10 doesn't come with one.
I like how you compared the calorie count on both machines. But, wouldn't it have been a more balanced comparison if the NordicTrack was not set at the 40% incline? Naturally, more calories will be burned because it's at a higher incline. For a more accurate comparison, could you do another test between the two but have them set at the same incline percentage? Although, it does seem like the NordicTrack is better than the TreadClimber.
Hi, I have a few issues with your video...(no offense) I have been thinking about buying the TC10 for a few months, but according to the bowflex website it was $999? not the $2200+ you and your 6-1/2 tall friend claim it is...2, what qualifies you to be a treadmill review guru??? According to the dictionary a Guru is a term for a "teacher, or master of a specific art or subject, mainly a teacher" According to your info your just some random guy who "used to" run cross country, and play soccer? Im not trying to be rude, but what makes you a Guru, im confused...???
This is not a review, it's a "bash a bowflex" video. First of all obviously your going to burn more calories at a 40% incline! That's obvious to even the most ignorant treadmill user. So that point is void. Secondly, you screwed up the review by even doing the calorie comparison because as soon as your gigantico friend hopped off and you hoped on, you were doing fine! Even walked a sec. with no hands! (something your friend claimed he couldn't do!) This whole review was very disappointing. When comparing something your supposed to go over pros and cons of both machines. You didn't do that here. For instance, the treadclimber is smaller and there is less impact. That's a bonus for a lot of people! And who needs touch screen displays?! I have a phone! I can set that on there and watch whatever I want with it! This is just a rediculous way to root for your favorite machine, by hiding your bias in a "review" video... Bad move.
It is a rather crappy product to be honest when compared to the NordicTrack. I've owned generic folding treadmills with an incline greater than the treadclimber supports and that allow a *much* longer stride. The Treadclimber is a different sort of product, it's designed for people who just want to walk at a leisurely pace. There's nothing wrong with that, but as a runner I would never use a treadclimber.
i was about to comment the same thing, then saw yours . i agree this is a terrible review . the calorie comparison is a farce, and if anyone wants a touch screen , use your tablet or phone . plus anyone who is 6.5" is going to have problems using alot of form factor pieces of equipment , such as lat pulldowns etc. his only con for the tread climber should have been if your tall this is not for you.
This is a case of comparing apples and oranges. You have a vertically challenged individual and a long, tall drink of water trying to compare these two machines. The tall fellow sets up on the Nordic Track with the platform at a much more acute angle, requiring him to walk bowed over in order to hold on and not fall off the track. There's no way this lanky guy could have endured this uncomfortable position for much more than 3 minutes or so. No wonder he burned off a few more calories than the little fellow on the Treadclimber, who appeared to be walking at a much more comfortable rate and posture. Maybe the TC 10 doesn't have much of a complex console, but do you really need all those bells and whistles? A totally useless demonstration.
Well it's kind of like the old apples and oranges comparison. Treadmills are for "high impacted" running work outs, and tread climbers are for low impact (easier on the knees and ankles) work out.
This video is misleading. How many people (and for how long) use a 40% incline? The Treadclimber doesn't specify a degree of incline, but I do have one and I love that it is low impact and does give more of a workout than even I expected. I think before you decide on any equipment, view more videos and research several people's comments and reviews. Good luck in whatever you choose.
Do these guys even know anything about treadmills? He literally asked what to call a tread belt. lol he doesn't even know how to walk on it he probably hit the clip for the safety key when it stopped.
how do they disagree i read the website u posted to me and the maximum calories burned in an hour for 73kg person there is 861 lets make that 900 break cals down to 1 min equals 15 cals i said in my comment max is 15-20 cals for human body to burn it proves my point and the machine showing 60 cals in 2.30 mins is not possible any human way all machines show higher cal burns then what actually u burn.
im into fitness for 2 years im at 8% body fat and a human body cant burn more than 18-20 cals a min at max so x91 showing 60 cals in 2.30 mins is a lie it means he is burning 25-30 cals a min which is impossible it burns about 15-20 at max dont just buy after watching the clas burned in this video
I own the TC10. I am 6' 4" and haven't experienced anything that the whiny guy in the video says he has. The tread length isn't super long, but not once did I feel like I wasn't going to fit on it. The console isn't great, but it's functional-- and that is all that matters. No entertainment in the console? Boohoo... guess you have to settle for using a headset for music or watch a tv.
dude learn about physique, cals burned and body before commenting on others and becoming guru of some kind no disrespect intented towards u i m just telling my point and that lot of other fitness guys will say that too have fun..
i own the x9i which i bought for the wife who never uses it. i have used it probably 15 times... i do my fat burning at the gym using there treadmills which only incline to 15%. When i have used the x9i and went to 40% incline it kicked my ass.. i had to slow the speed to 1.5 to 2 mph or my heart rate would sky up... So you people doubting the x9i well i promise you the bowflex wont compare..
I don't know about the bowflex but I can tell you I would never buy a NordicTrack product ever again. I bought a x9i in January and it was dead two months later. Motor burnt up etc. Five weeks have gone by so far since I have requested warranty support. Nordictrack cares about one thing, your cash. buyer beware.
One he is six feet tall he should try the bigger one and he looks weird on that small thing. Maybe it would work better for a woman or a smaller guy which I'm glad I'm seeing this cause if I do decide to get it I would get the big one cause my husband is six feet tall and he is not as lean as your friend is
how is this video misleading they are giving their personal opinions and reviews i can definitely see why the taller guy wouldn't want it it is obviously not for a person of his height. And money wise the Tread climber is more expensive that i know from doing my own research.
Here is what i dont like, the dude was exhausted on the nordic track after 2 mins! How could you do a 30-45 min workout like that? Answer, you couldnt. So the point is, sustained heart rate increase on the boflex. Duno, seems logical.
I felt it was not a fair comparison, since the Nordictrack was on a 40% incline and the Bowflex wasn't. No wonder the poor guy was exhausted after 2 mins! lol
Omg I was so tempted to buy the treadclimber but now, even just looking at it on a comparison, looks like a peice of crap! I'm such an idiot, believing info commercials... they always get me :(
Thanks Sharon! I'm so glad that you found this helpful. The X9i is definitely a beast. The footprint of this incline trainer is approximately 69" L X 60" W X 60" H. When the tread belt is fully inclined it sits about two and a half feet off the ground, so ceiling clearance is something to consider as well. (If your ceilings are 7', and you are 5' 6" tall, you may be uncomfortably close to the ceiling while it's fully inclined!)
We want to stay in shape for hiking & backpacking in the mountains. Are these incline trainers the right tool for the job? I want something that will really kick my butt. EDIT - I went ahead and bought one of the x7i units. IDK about all the electronics, I want to workout not fidget with the internet, but the answer is YES, it will kick your butt. Awesome!
I have the TC10. and I used to a have a treadmill. They are very different machines. The TC 10 console is horrible though. Bowflex should be emabarrssed about that. You can't walk on it with out holding on either so just hang on. It is great if you have bad joints because it can give you a workout without stressing the joints. It takes less room as well. Get a treadmill if you are able to run without pain, otherwise look into other options such as a treadclimber
definitely going with a NordicTrack at Sears ~ better quality for the price ~ much better customer service too Thanks Guru ~ Sorry I don't have any curse words to add ~ I'll be taking it out on the machine lol YEAH BABY
"The speed changes all on its own, see?" As the speed was changed by the user, and the speed was changing to get up to 3mph, and then when it got up to 3mph and stayed there, they realized they made an idiot comment at that point, and turned away.. Such horrific review. My gosh. sound like a couple of 10 year olds.
Purchased a TC10 & I'm happy. Not sure if it's because the tester is 6'6", but I haven't experienced issues with slipping off the back of the machine. If you keep the speed and resistance in synch & follow the instructions ("Keep your hands on the Handlebars and stay as near the front of the machine as is comfortable"), sliding off the back shouldn't be an issue. TC10 is more compact, though it's not designed for running, so I'd expect the calorie-burning potential to be greater w/ the x9i.
The Bowflex does not allow you to input anything. NordicTrack allows you to input information only if you are using iFit to track progress. The Bowflex uses treadpaddles and cannot incline so they cannot be set to the same incline.
The information in this video might be a little outdated. As of 04-18-14: I just checked the NordicTrack X9i website and it's $2,999.99. The model TC10 of the TreadClimber, which is shown above, is $1,999.99. So it's 1,000 bucks cheaper, hence the lackluster display, which appears to be an accurate evaluation.
I get that bowflex does not let you set incline but it could be matched to see which machine gives the greater calorie burn at the same incline. I would suspect nordictrack. However, since bowflex is a piece of crap in my opinion and does not allow for users to input their height and weight, no accurate comparison can be made. maybe bowflex did that intentionally.
I recommend that you check out the reviews on my website (the link is at the bottom of the video description above!) and see if any of the treadmills stand out there. You can always use the "contact me" page on the site to ask specific questions about models if you have any! Best of luck in your treadmill search!
i had the bow flex tread climber and i returned it back quick! It's hard to keep your balance but the only great thing it has is it's size other than that it's not wort hit.
They are walking on the tread climber wrong. You need to walk to the front of the machine. He's walking at the end of it and that's wrong. He's also way to big for the machine. Very biased review
I was looking for something that is quiet because I stay in a flat and I dont want the people below to be annoyed even at 2am when im working out. I definitely see that the Tread Climber is pretty loud.
Wow i agree with you so much. Me for sure not buying the bowflex,And funny thing or should i say sad thing is i never knew about the Nordic Track untill now. By far the Nordic Track wins I too am tall with long legs need more room And i like that goes up high for a great work out
Looking at the person on the nordictrack that just looked awkward on the back... I would hope the level does not have to be so steep... did not look at all comfortable.
The NordicTrack does seem nice... I think the only downside is the iFit feature. I say it's a downside because it's an extra cost on top of purchasing the treadmill. Nike+ lets you track your information but does not give you the "walking on google maps" feature. I would definitely like the iFit but at $99 per year, I don't find that worth the cost.I was so close to getting the tread climber too, til I saw your review... Guess I need to find something else. Thanks
The tall guy in the video is 6'5" and has this machine in his basement where the ceilings are about 8'6" he said. He told me he has plenty of clearance, probably a foot or more. So that said, the NordicTrack will (at 40% incline) add about 12-15 inches to your height.
the only question i have is, does the X9i burn more calories than the TC10? i believe that the tread climber burns at least 2 times or even more calories of any treadmill. Can anyone help me?
Evan, I respect your opinion, and I'm glad that you love your treadclimber! I simply made this review to compare the two machines because I was quite surprised that the treadclimber was lacking in areas that I didn't realize until I received the machine myself. Obviously a person doesn't have to choose to use the full incline at all times on an incline trainer, but that is the beauty of an incline trainer - you have the option to do so, but can still get a normal treadmill workout if you want.
do either the nordictrack or bowflex allow you to input your weight when comparing calories burned? also, having both machines at the same incline would have given a greater comparison of the machine itself for calorie burn and not the comparison of different inclines for calorie burn.
I think this is an honest review I've ever see. But I think this is just a personal opinion. I see you do not like the Bowflex Treadclimber. I want to buy TC10 and I've read a lot of articles review, I see many great comments about the Bowflex Treadclimber. For example, this video: ruclips.net/video/2G95ePod1CQ/видео.html
Just look at the two machines... At first glance I can see multiple benefits to the Nordictrack. It just seems like the two tread belts would slip on the bowflex. That's basically twice the moving parts, and twice the potential for breakdown. I'm not sure if the review was legitimate or not, but even if it wasn't, valid points were made.
Until I watched this comparison I was ready to sign up for the tread climber... but now? I'm favoring the NordicTrack X9i. Thanks for the review, you are probably going to save a lot of people a lot of dough that's better spent on something else.
I agree. I was ready to order the middle treadclimber but this has changed my mind. Did you get the Nordic Track x9i? I had the Nordictrack ski machine (can't remember the name but it was in the 1980's) and it was a well made product.
This was a very helpful video. I've thought the TreadClimber looked neat, but I loved the incline and decline of the x9i. This detailed video has me convinced that the the x9i is what I want. I'm training for the Nashville half marathon, and the hills have me concerned, as I live in a very flat area. This would give me a good base to add to the little hill drills I can do around here.
Okay, I watched your other video review of the NordicTrack x9i... After reading the other reviews I'm left wondering how big it is. One reviewer said it needs it's own room and a closet! Can you recommend a machine that doesn't take up so much space? I want something I can add to my bedroom.
Hi, i know its been a year but is there another model of the Nordic track that is out now? I was definitely sold on the bowflex until i started my research, im glad i came across this. Thanks!
Wow, thank you so much for your review of this product. I was considering buying one but now I'm going to check out the NordicTrack X9i. I am stunned that it costs less than the Bowflex model and has so many more features. I have never purchased exercise equipment for my home so I had no idea what I was getting into. The Bowflex model is a lot of money for something I don't get to see or try before purchasing. You've saved me a lot of trouble and money. Thank you!!
You can wonder all you would like. I am 5'10" and the TreadClimber was uncomfortable for me to use. It was unusable for him. The TC20 is bigger and is the only Treadclimber that should be considered. However for the price it's not remotely worthit. Bowflex makes a bad product and people just need to realize it. Just look at the console. Size doesn't matter there, that thing doesn't do anything.
i dont work for bowflex.... I own the x9i and the only reason i bought it was for the ability to incline higher than 15% as all other treadmills peak at. Im sure the bowflex does what it says but it wont compare to someone using the higher inclines.. It is like a leg, ass,and calf workout. The x9i is a good tradmill. Im selling it cause i cant stand to do cardio at home and i bought it for my wife but she hasnt used it... $2000 for not shit,,,, lol im giving it away for $1000
This review was biased as hell.

This was like putting a 6’5 guy in a small sports car and complaining about the car lol
Good review, but the calorie burn comparison was a joke. You should've had the machines at the same degree of incline.
This model is not made for 6'5" men with big feet.
So biased of a review, it's actually very funny. Thanx for the laugh.

With all due respect to the bowflex people this junk is not worth $2000 at least not for me.....
Thanks for the comment! That's what I'm here for :)

Mayo Clinic would STRONGLY disagree with your ignorant statement: mayoclinic (dot) com/health/exercise/SM00109
That man is too tall for exercise equipment. Send him to NBA.
Hmm both guys are yummy.Stop wineing and drink something. Of course there be miss cals. As the 2 guys heights, body type, incline.
How much does that 6'6'' guy weight?? The maximum weight on the bowflex is 300! Might also have caused problems!!!
This is such fake news. Bill Walton may be the worst reviewer I have ever seen.
We want to stay in shape for hiking & backpacking in the mountains. Are these incline trainers the right tool for the job? I want something that will really kick my butt. Hi, I am 6'7" 300 plus. Would you recommend I buy the 5500 series because it is longer for big people? Thank you for the input.
definitely going with a NordicTrack at Sears ~ better quality for the price ~ much better customer service too
Thanks Guru ~ Sorry I don't have any curse words to add ~ I'll be taking it out on the machine lol YEAH BABY
"The speed changes all on its own, see?" Can you compare the X9i and the TC20? Maybe the differences between the X9i and the C600 both by NordicTrack? Thanks a million!
can the nordic go faster than 12 mph ?
Is the assault runner worth it?
The Bowflex does not allow you to input anything. NordicTrack allows you to input information only if you are using iFit to track progress. The Bowflex uses treadpaddles and cannot incline so they cannot be set to the same incline.
Of course its not gonna work for the guy in the red shirt. His damn knees are the height of the display lmao
The Nordictrack has two X9i models, one from last year and one from this year. The current model is $1,999.
Very un helpful. the 2 reviewers were trying their hardest to give a bad review far better off looking for another review of this product.
First of all, why dont you have a bowflex rep there to tell mr 6 6 how to use the machine!!! LAME
For 2,000 bucks any one should be able to use that machine, That is one of the points they are trying to make.
Thanks!
Thank you
Wow, thank you so much for your review of this product.
Ok cool...for big people you would recommend the TC20 over the TC10...thank you for the info
Omg you need to TC200 for tall people
Thanks for saving me from making an expensive mistake in buying the TC10. I'm looking at NordicTrack now.
as tall as you are the Tc20 is for you!!
Exactly there is a max weight for the bowflex ass well
$1,999??? I looked it up online and it's $2999!
hey would you mind if I posted this review on a website?
Buy an elliptical.
I'm glad I saw this review...thanks!
Youre too tall lol
BOWFLEX
i dont work for bowflex.... $2000 for not shit,,,, lol im giving it away for $1000
This review was absolutely HORRIBLE
