There are now more Africans in Croydon and all over London and England than Caribbeans. Many Africans came in the past 25-30 years and have now outnumbered the Caribbeans, whereas the Caribbeans have been here since 1948 - known as the ‘Windrush’ community. Before independence in 1962 Jamaica was still a British colony and they were recruited, invited and travelled to England on British passports at that time. Many Jamaicans lived in Brixton in the early days and worked hard to buy the very large houses in and around the area. In the 1990s many sold up to the yuppies who started to move in, and the Jamaicans downsized into other areas of London or returned home to the Caribbean. Now Brixton is gentrified, with many nationalities, but Jamaicans and Windrush have always been a big part of its history. There’s a square in Brixton called ‘Windrush’ Square, in recognition of the Caribbeans who came on ‘Empire Windrush’ ship in 1948 and settled in the area.
Brixton was always “gentrified”, Africans, Irish, Greeks, West Indians, Indians etc. I see we are using all the American words now
Where are the most Caribbeans in London then?
@@versace2030, that would be Hackney, Shepherds Bush, Peckham, Tottenham, Notting Hill, Harlesden, Haringey, Lewisham, Brixton, and Streatham. But you will find Caribbean people in every single borough in London. Outside of London it would be Manchester, Leeds, Coventry, East & West Midlands (including Birmingham), Bradford, Nottingham, Luton, Wolverhampton, Leicester, Sheffield, Huddersfield, Cardiff, and Liverpool.
@@pwelly7717, Brixton hasn't always been gentrified. Most of the people who are now living in Brixton wouldn't be caught dead there before the early 1990s. And many people who used to live there have moved away because it became too expensive. It all began with the 1993 Brixton City Challenge to the merciless implementation of Lambeth's Future Brixton Masterplan in the 2010s, along with the enforcement of austerity measures following the 2008 financial crisis, then the redevelopment of the Pope's Road area in 2021, all of which priced out many residents, small shop owners, and displacing market traders for offices and expensive shops and cafes. The same thing has happened to Clapham Common, and is now happening in Hackney.
@@InfoSpectrum876I want to visit all those cities when I come to England one day.🇺🇸
Let me add some clarity … there are pockets of dangerous places in every borough in London. On record Croydon has the most crime statistically because it is the most POPULATED borough in London (meaning higher rates in everything) such as crime, teenage pregnancy etc. However, most crimes in Croydon tend to surround/ involve “teenagers” and most adults are not affected per se.
Thanks for the insights
@@kish_myworld wouldnt go there if paid what a dump
The area used to be kind of fancy back in the day, so sad it gone down hill.
Croydon itself has other areas inside of it but Croydon central is very dirty and run down and that's because of local government misuse of ppl taxes. Croydon is a different looking place to what it was in the last 30yrs, a lot of the Caribbean ppl have either moved away, dead or gone back to the Caribbean so now Croydon has a lot of African, Asian and other nationalities
Blame Khan
Many Caribbean are in interracial relationships they still make a lot of babies they're just half white half Caribbean
Race mixing
X amount of Dinghy boys line the streets of Croydon!
Maybe dangerous is not the word to describe Croydon.
Totally agree with you about that youtuber..she got a lot of backlash and had to change the title of that video. Welcome to South London.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Amazing! So humbled to have met you and hosted you both! My beautiful little sister Jackie. My home will always be your home Kish and Jackie.
Don't see that caricature of the Briton depicted as pink coated horn blowing bankrupts.this is more like Nairobi in the 1980s.same street size n arrangement .nice vibe
Nice one! New subscriber from my friend tearoze 💯
Tearoze told me to sub 👍🏽
Thanks again Tearoze 🙏🏻
@@kish_myworld You’re welcome 💯
I lived in Croydon for 4 years with my children and trust me we always felt safe it's a nice place to live quite
Croydon is a place in London that used to be manifested by a diverse specific bird species which were later classified. The land had sufficient food for them to thrive, the Crows dominate this area the most like Ravens, Carrion crow, Rook, Hooded crow, Chough, Jackdaw, Jay, Magpie- one for sorrow, and two for joy bird. The energy brought by the bird life here manifested through the sort of people who can dwell there. Multi-cultural energy indeed, with a twist of aggressiveness.
Ah nice
Wrong! Pigeons rule !
Cool accent you have Kish, I've never heard one like it.
Your host perspective of London is very informative.
Yea definitely
I have heard that a whole lot of Zimbabweans are moving to Croydon from other parts of south London.
Is that true?
Bro how did i miss this one..didnt know you were in the UK.. would had shown you the North of London
NExt time then
Big up kish hope you are doing well 🇯🇲
I’m doing great…
Happy weekend. Enjoy and be safe🎉❤
Thank you! You too!
Areas become dangerous because the government council police and army allow it to become that way. It also depends on being in the wrong place at the wrobg time and what circles you move in. The media can give out bias prejudice info. However If bad people moved into good areas ,they get flushed out.
I knew as soon as i saw her she was from st. Elizabeth. Beautiful people. Home of my in-laws. I really hope to go one day.
Nice
Croydon is really going down.
Kish My World . How are you nice to see you in London
Thanks! Happy to be here
Hello Kish…top of the day to you and glad to have you In London…
Wagwan bro 😎
Croydon is the best . Try Dellys t take away or YAHSO restaurant and visit crystal palace football club too .
Love croydon ❤
Hello from Jamaica 🇯🇲
Very sad..worked there for 2 years until 2022, so many great people. The minority spoil it for a fab community.
Tell him to come back to West Croydon after 11pm and lower part of North End. Plenty of crack heads, drug deals and young Arab and Black men "hanging around". A mistake Croydon Council did make (one of too many) was not to create a legitimate legal nightlife of bars, cafes and restaurants throughout town that stayed open until 4am. There is nowhere to socialize, relax or party in the Croydon town centre even on Friday or Saturday. You can't even see a pop concert or late night sport! The late licensing laws are notoriously restrictive.
Easy, Top of the Morning 😀, Kish 🖤
Hey there!
Mad that she’s been in Croydon 15 years and never had any problems. I’ve been in Brixton 1 week and have already been assaulted.
Before you leave Croydon go to the townhall and look for the alderwoman Gee Bernard she is a legend
Kish my world bro bless up
Bless up brother
@@kish_myworld yeah
Croydon nothing like 1990 change so much hardly any shops
I wouldn’t know…
@@kish_myworld I know you don't know it use to be lovely shopping centre to shop in before pandemic a lot of own British stores did close but it was still booming shame really
Leave The immigration decisions etc, for us The actual People of The UK to make
Is this India or Africa?
Also there is a huge development program happening in croydon, that’s why many shops are closed
The only development is the growing number of Dinghy boys lining the streets!
It’s ‘Borough’ not burrow!
Noted
Burrow got me crying sorry 😂🤣😂

Only one love 🫶🏽
@@Tearoze yup

The cost of food in Croydon seems cheap and affordable compared to Stockholm
Yes London is definitely cheaper than any Scandinavian country

Stockholm where you live has a higher homicide rate (relative to it's population size) than London Kish. Gun homicides are especially high in Stockholm.
Yea that may be true
First of all Croydon is not in London, it's actually in Surrey. Secondly, the reason why Croydon gets labelled as South London is evident from the deterioration in condition it's deliberately going through!
oh it's not?
Croydon has been part of London since 1965 and is NOT part of Surrey. The fact that some people still call it "Croydon, Surrey" is irrelevant, that's just habit.
It is part of Greater London and is a London borough.
Croydon is in Greater London. Not even got a real London postcode. Also it is NOT the most dangerous borough.... Fake stats.
True
Croydon is in Surrey!
@themanfromdelmonte9150 It hasnt been part of Surrey since 1965. London borough of Croydon which is part of greater London.
Most dangerous. Yet you qre walkimg with your selfie stick leisurely in the notorious part of Croydon where the dangerous stabbings happen.
Croydon has some leafy surburbs and villages within a few mniutes of Croydon.
For context, the incident stats of violent crime is in the high street. I would be coutious around the high street defo.
Its unfortunate when we hear about the stats but the perps and victims could be from outside Croydon which is a very transient part of London.
Croydon is Surrey not London
It is in Greater London

Hey?
The Truth So Help Me God
The most scariest places
England colonised almost all of us even the USA
Thus the true gangsters are at no 10 Downing Street London UK
The worlds most murderous capital city is Washington DC
You must have heard of the White House now that is where the real Gangsters live
Places like the Bronx and Brixton are just victims of real gangsters trying to fight poverty
To be poor in this world and or society today is to be righteous
Poor places do not necessary mean scary even though it looks run down
The are predominantly invested with churches and religion looking for a way out of poverty
Real mums and dads live there

Croydon is beautiful 🎉
It’s not the most dangerous borough in London sorry…there are worse boroughs.

She has no right to be talking about the immigration decisions of the UK as she is not from The UK
She is a British citizen tho. So she has a say in this
No she don't @@kish_myworld
Neither do u also
😂 dangerous? To whom ?
I live there with my children and always felt safe my son's went out one worked nights my daughter went out late felt safe so wrong to title it this way
@@tofurakhanom2644 lol exactly. Same here. Dangerous is some Brazilian favela where there are gangs with guns or an area where there's a civil war. But according to the title, ur taking ur life in ur hand walking past West Croydon Station at any time of the day or night . Clickbait nonsense lol.
