I am a drummer, born in the 70s. I have honestly never seen any drummer as good as this man. This video is ten years old. I know the world is full of millions of people, and there is no way you can see them all, but I have literally seen and heard thousands of percussionists. The tricks he did with the spinning of the sticks, although this is not necessary to play, is extraordinary. The way he played and did not miss a beat or a lick, and how fast he was going. using shallow travel type drums that can enable you to play faster, more freely, and more crisp, is what it is all about in these settings anywhere. I admire and respect him. I actually have incorporated some of what he does, because I believe when you play, you are a melody, a song, not just an instrument. He really took over and commanded the drums. If I had even 30 percent of his talent. To me he is the most amazing drummer I have ever witnessed. I say that when I first saw him, and I still say that now. I also believe because of his younger age at the time, he is most definitely a prodigy to be able to play beyond anything you can fathom.
Couldn't have said it better myself. I've played all kinds of places and seen all kinds of musicians, but this was legitimately jaw-dropping not just because of how fast he plays, but how consistent and accurate he is. Any pro could play maybe any 4 consecutive bars without mistakes after practice, but this guy just keeps GOING and it's clearly just freestyle. He seems to know exactly what every hit is gonna do, something that I think most drummers can only work towards at speeds like this.
While I agree he is definitely an amazingly talented drummer, you should check out some of larnell lewis' work. Not only does he have the chops and is always in the pocket, but he can learn and remember some of the most complicated music in an inconceivably short amount of time. If you haven't heard of it, I'd highly suggest checking out some of the stuff he played with "snarky puppy". He learned their setlist, while on a flight to fill in for their regular drummer, and when you listen to what they play, you'll see exactly what I mean. It's insane 😂 It never ceases to amaze me how many amazing musicians there are, and somehow, the bar just keeps getting raised.
@@informanti -this is why I never got involved in competition. There is always better drummers or musicians than me, or others, somewhere in the world. That is never why we should play. Yes, I have watched Larnell Lewis. I am familiar with him. He is still not better than this guy.

Great drummer, magnificent solo, fantastic trics, absolutely. Thomas Lang could be his student. Just hope the audience gave him some money to buy a shirt...
Those old timers to his left were probably the first ones there. They knew hearing such a masterful performance from that close was a once in a lifetime opportunity
afroboy389 Or mabye the combination;) Being a great musician(Especially guitarist or drummer) like he is and being that fit is probably a very good combination
Hes alternating hits with his hands and feet. left right with hands left right with feet and swapping the drums/symbols he hits after each rotation. It's pretty simple but takes a lot of practice to get it that quick and that tight.
Great playing. Seems like the key to great playing is not to work too hard, don't hit the drums too hard, be relaxed. He could go on like this all night.
The key is he is a prodigy. He practices and plays. He does not need big drums. He uses shallow drums and tight heads because of that. But you still need extraordinary skill to do what he did, in the way he played. Now I am not saying you need to spin your sticks and do tricks to be a good player, but the fact he did that, and played as he was doing it, so fast without missing a beat and a lick, is beyond amazing. I have never seen anyone who can be like that.
I think they are from Russia. All people stay close, but the two girls standing inside and it does not matter that they prevent everyone from watching the show.
Probably but i think it’s both, many studies have shown that people are usually attracted to musicians(Especially Guitarists and Drummers), but him being very fit is prob just a big plus:)
He's definitely a very *athletic* drummer, I'll say that, even if he gets a little sloppy towards the end, there (but considering what he's doing, it's still pretty amazing). And a good juggler, as well- a very good showman.
I'm a musician too and from an honest musical point of view, he's actually a very nice drummer. He has a very great sense of solo-ing. Each of the styles that he is implementing here is evenly and uniformly expressed and none is really interfering with each other but each has their own share of expression. Clarity, time, technique, musicality, dynamics, trad grip, he got it all !

He's in Blood, Sweat, and Tears. Not as popular as in the 60s/70s, but a group of *beasts*.
Legend has it, the drums weren't the only thing that he was hitting that night! Lol!!!!
his wife and children
@@tommacduff4330 bhahahahahahah.... terrible
Really too bad this was put up in the days of 10 min RUclips. This is amazing.
that has to be the best drum solo I have ever seen!!! I drum I know what it takes to do something that crazy! its hard to do!
amen
yeah, not just fast showmanship, but musically inventive too. He's extraordinarily good.
First half was a bit of me going "I could that" then going "K den."
+Ray Kent This guy is nothing compared to Thomas lang
Tou obviously haven't seen many drum solos then. This was a good drum solo but not nearly the best.
I loved it. And to the haters - this is street busking numbskulls, he's not in the studio, nor is he playing with a band. And all the business and chops all over the place is because.....duh, he's busking by himself. He's a credit to the art form.
paulbutterfieldbluesband play
Amazing and the amount of practice he put in to get this skilled is insane.
Extremely talented young man!
After watching this I can most definitely state that I need more practice. LOL! Great video, thanks for sharing.
I don't know if there's a name for how he spins the sticks the way he does, but I don't believe I've ever seen his equal. Hell it's not even close, that is simply phenomenal. I found out that Dylan was actually coming to my hometown all the way to the heart of Texas to perform. But I found out about it a month after he was here. I can't begin to tell you how pissed I was that I missed that show.
That’s amazing talent. It would great to see him get signed with a band equally as good and let the world see his skills. ☠️
He's with Blood Sweat and Tears
This guys had every girl there drooling lmfao
Not me
And not just from the mouth!!

Great performance !! Auckland Queen street ? Damm I can’t believe I didn’t see this guy before.... now what else I have missed
Best guitar playing I've seen
Dude !!! Ooen your eyes my friend.. he is not playing the guitar .... he is playing a trumpet you fool ! ;-)
Great drummer, magnificent solo, fantastic trics, absolutely. Thomas Lang could be his student. Just hope the audience gave him some money to buy a shirt...
WOW I have never heard a Drum Solo so INTENSE OR AWESOME I am definitely checking out more of your stuff
What I wanna know...who are the 314 ppl who gave this video thumbs down....REALLY :-O makes no sense.
Ppl : yea it's cool
Me : imagining the million hours it took him to get there
Kanishk Pratap Me too :
Those old timers to his left were probably the first ones there. They knew hearing such a masterful performance from that close was a once in a lifetime opportunity
Never was there a clearer example, that playing drums could get you laid.
ironman tooltime so true! Lol
ironman tooltime ????? You have evidence of that??? Talent is not what gets one laid. FAMOUS Talent is what does it.
This just tells me having abs could get you laid.
afroboy389 Or mabye the combination;) Being a great musician(Especially guitarist or drummer) like he is and being that fit is probably a very good combination
I wanted to like this comment but I’m 6years late and it stands at exactly 69 likes. I’m not bout to mess up the universe like that.
first time i saw this vid was in 2012... now its 2016 and i still cant process the part 7:55
thanks for helping the video grow.
6:03 as well
Styzer that was the alien part
wtf :D
Hes alternating hits with his hands and feet. left right with hands left right with feet and swapping the drums/symbols he hits after each rotation. It's pretty simple but takes a lot of practice to get it that quick and that tight.
Incredibile!!! Really a gift from the heaven!!
Nice to know people like you exists!
Great playing. Seems like the key to great playing is not to work too hard, don't hit the drums too hard, be relaxed. He could go on like this all night.
Luke Green staying relaxed is the key to playing any instrument.
3:24 His rhythm is the best I've ever seen in my entire life!
Superb and very intuitive performance incorporating 3D drumming while also packed with rudimentary elements, AWESOME 🙏👍👌🎶😉
Wow! What an amazing talent! Incredible!
I just started playing drums not too long ago and I thought I was actually pretty good then I saw this and realized, no... Im not. Amazing stuff!!
These folks have been treated to one incredible drum clinic!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
When a Ninja decides to combine his training with his love of music.
Those girls don't even care what he's doing. They just see abs…..and they love it.
El Guapo yup you are absolutely right. What do they care about the drumming? They just want to take a dive at him😁 ha! Ha!
I think they are from Russia. All people stay close, but the two girls standing inside and it does not matter that they prevent everyone from watching the show.
El Guapo nah. They just think he’s rich.
Probably but i think it’s both, many studies have shown that people are usually attracted to musicians(Especially Guitarists and Drummers), but him being very fit is prob just a big plus:)
true lol
I remember the day I watched this😂. It said “posted a week ago”. Still just as cool as the first time I watched it😂
This guy is one of the best I've ever seen
Look a video about the drummer Thomas Lang.
Thats it.... I'm getting a drumset.
I'll throw mine!!!😂😂😂
😂 Ditto
Ime calling sound control lol
Mine are now for sale!!
Joe Ferugson! Did you get your drum set yet? Hope you like drumming
Lovely to see rudiments, groove and independence together. One man batteria
His kick drum is frigging awesome!
Making panties drop. This guy is my new hero.
Boognish panties don’t drop over talent.
Boognish and you are a zero.
Hahahaha..😂😂😂
Boognish has all the likes. Lol
Good drummer
How come I discovered this drummer this late?? He's fenomenale !! Right up there with Vinnie Colauta and Jojo Major, Steve Gad, Thomas Lang...
And nowadays mangini I guarantee you if he can get lessons or learn from Mancini and brother he would be throwing down!!!!!!
People are enjoying it and no body had a phone out videoing!! Just a observation!
It's fantastic to look around and see people just enjoying the music instead of filming it like a bunch of retards
He's definitely a very *athletic* drummer, I'll say that, even if he gets a little sloppy towards the end, there (but considering what he's doing, it's still pretty amazing). And a good juggler, as well- a very good showman.
Seems to me like he was in a high school marching band growing up you know too cuz my high school we had some amazing drummers in our marching band..
