    Sweet, genuine, and full of life, just like her performances. I hope I can see her perform before i die.

    Which is why he asked the questions he did. I'm sure the viewer unfamiliar with opera was grateful, as he would have had the same questions.

    Yes, she was a little shy back then! Maybe because her English was not as good then.

    Despina a small role? Did Charlie Rose not bother to watch the opera or read it or, I don't know, talk to someone who knows something about opera? Despina is a major role, and as she says, CENTRAL to the opera. Dang he's a bonehead.

    It is isn't it?
    Why has she never done Carmen?

    • @lesthermiranda1794

      She's not a Lyric Mezzo. She's a Light Coloratura Mezzo

    • @MeMe-tm8gg

      Fach is really only a part of the total. Even Sopranos have done Carmen. I could see her as a Carmen. I’ve Done Carmen and I’m a coloratura mezzo. Coloratura is not so much a fach. It means agility of runs and intricate passages. My range runs from contralto c2 to soprano d6. What makes me a mezzo is the timbre. I’m mezzo and not contralto because a true contralto has an androgynous timber. Mine is a very warm feminine timber. I’ve heard Cecilia sing an e flat 6 full voice. Definitely not mezzo range! It’s when you hear the honeyed caramel dark timber in the low register that you say wow yes desfinitely mezzo!

    Being American is not what makes this man ignorant about opera; he simply doesn't have an interest for it. Would you expect me to know everything about hip-hop, even though I have no interest in it? Please, don't assume that someone is clueless about something simply because of their nationality. It is really quite juvenile.
    And by the way, I'm American and have a passion for opera, and singing in general. Maybe us Virginians are different, but your stereotype, sir, has just been proven wrong.

  • @roman14032

    "a small voice ?....a large voice?' this guys justs mimicing sounds hes heard others make, he has no idea what hes talking about

  • @janezamudio4940
    @janezamudio4940 11 лет назад +2

    I was agreeing with everything you were saying until you threw in the part about being Virginian----you just resorted to the very stereotyped mentality for which you chastised SsteinwayS. And exactly how was his stereotype proven wrong?
