Hi Lex i just went to walmart i bought alligator test clips and a 16 gauge cable. i am going to use tommorow in my son house. i replaced this morning a new bryant thermostat and it is not working. So i will follow your video i know it is gonna work. Thanks Lex
Regarding the color coding: 1. What's the benefit, since all 4 wires connect to each other making them all the same signal? 2. Does that require you to use 4 separate wires instead of only 2 cut in half, since both halves would be duplicating the same color?
@@realSamAndrew I bought a set of colored test leads. I cut them and made my tester then on the extra clips and wirer I installed new clips for short jumpers for other jobs.
@@mostlikelywedoitservices6926 I see. Thanks. Now as to the first part, is there any benefit to having different colors (other than it just looks cool) if they all connect together? In other wiring, you normally connect red to red, black to black, purple to purple etc, but all those colors go to different places. In this case, it's a jumper which means they all become one wire. So can you see why I wonder about keeping multiple colors? 🤔
Really enjoy your videos I work for a property Management company here in Texas and been doing this type of work for a long time but still like to learn some tricks and tips. Thanks for posting videos

I did this and when i put jumpers on it no longer popped the fuse? Does that mean the thermostat is bad? Again with jumpers connected to red, yellow, green and orange wire, there is no longer a short
If the unit came on & ran then yes, it could be the t-stat. I had one like that 3 weeks ago. It was a bad tstat & fixed the problem. Thank you so much for watching Robert!
@@LexVance there is also a white wire in mine? It says w1. It has a white and black wire in that terminal then the black wire loops to e? Would anything with those cause that 3amp fuse to pop? I dont have those connected to jumpers but they are still connected. Thanks so much for the response man i really appreciate it.
Ok so i jumped the white wire to red and my short finder light popped on. This is in W1 terminal. It also has a black wire in this W1 terminal that is connected to the E terminal. If that makes sense lol. So white wire and black wire in W1 terminal then black loops to e terminal
Thumbs up! Question; What if I don't have a yellow wire? These are my wires behind my battery operated LUX Brand Digital Thermostat; Red, Green, White, Blue , and there is a black wire just jumped in a U shape to another terminal on the thermostat. thanks!! My AC stopped working a few days ago while I wasn't home. Found out the 3amp fuse popped. As soon as I put another 3amp fuse and close the door which activates the switch it pops again! So I ordered the leads and short pro tool which should be here any day now. But, looking at my wires I don't have a yellow wire like in your example so I'm going to test the red/green first. I'm assuming the white is for my heat/furnace.
I also noticed my batteries were showing low on the thermostat display before I even knew the fuse had blown. Put in new batteries and that didn't help as the fuse blew as soon as i put a new fuse in.
Ok, my blue wire goes to the 'Y' screw terminal on the thermostat so that must be the 'yellow wire' location. There is a 'C' screw terminal on the thermostat but it's not being used. RC and RH are jumped via a small black wire. RH also has the red wire going into it it as well. The white wire goes into W1 which must be for my heat. THe green wire goes into G which must be for my fan. SInce there is no yellow wire I'm guessing the blue wire was used in the yellow screw terminal.
Thank you. I would love if you did a sequence of operations. Thermostat, to ac board/relay circuitry. To the air handler blower to the condenser. Etc. I would also like the terminology on the wet bulb, dry bulb. On the particulars. Let me get on my feet bro. I’ll hook you up. Thanks again.
