    👍 As was stated in a previous comment, I have a 1999 GMC Suburban and using this video as a guide, I was able to change out the roller pins without a hitch. I especially appreciate the attention given to finish preservation. Before watching this video I had some trepidation about tackling the job and thought I might have to remove the doors and/or replace the entire door hinge roller pin on both sides.

    I have a 99 Suburban and using this video as a guide, was able to change out my roller pins without a hitch, so thank you. I especially appreciate the attention to finish preservation, just because no one really ever sees the door hinges doesn't mean they shouldn't be well taken care of.

    I just did one on my C1500 and changed the whole pin. I didn't know it could be done this way where just the tip and the roller is replaced. Thanks.

    This is a great tutorial but myself I have found that is is much easier and less hassle to remove the door completely and then replace the entire roller pin assembly as one piece P/N 12540326 and hinge retainer 15562610. Have you seen the custom roller pins supplied by Cunningham Machine ? They look really nice and easy to install. My '99 K1500 was just re-done both with all GM door hinge pins, bushings, springs and roller pins. Huge difference! When it comes time to re-do my 99 Tahoe I am going to give the Cunningham Machine parts a go.
    All these Dorman and other manufacturers are a means of last resort and always best to go with genuine GM or AC-Delco parts when available. Thanks again and supplying GM part numbers is almost as valuable as the repair tutorials themselves.

    Will this work on a 02 chevy s10?

    I cant seem to fine the roller you have listed in your description, I can still find the pin on Amazon but not the roller. I have a 1993 silverado and my hinge roller is slightly bent.

      That part has been discontinued since 2011 or so. It's not been offered by any aftermarket vendors afaik, so only something you'll be able to find NOS (new old stock). There is a link in the description with both the original and a later number to widen the search alert you could set up.

    Can you please put the right link to the parts im not getting the rigth part from amazon or ebay thankyou

      Thanks, I just checked and they are all working but the search has had alot of aftermarket noise from an unrelated part of the same number creep in. Tightened that search to just the GM truck part now. Let me know if its working for you now.

    In trying to free the small pin from the larger pin, would heat or freezing it help in loosening it ?

    • @DrShock
      @DrShock  3 года назад

      Possibly, but you have alot of paint finish in this area that heat would permanently damage.

    Seems you like doing this the hard way. Mine, I just cut and punched out the whole assembly and drove a new pen with roller back in. About 15 mins.

    What kind of car shop would you have to go to to get this done? Just wondering

    • @DrShock
      @DrShock  Год назад +1

      I'd say this kind of body work is something an independent privately owned small general repairs shop would handle. I wouldn't expect a shop focusing on engines and transmissions to want this sort of business. Nor would a tire and brake focused shop. Definitely make sure they have experience doing this first though.

    How do I replace the bottom one

    • @DrShock
      @DrShock  2 года назад

      The check link roller is only a part of the top hinge, there are no bottom check link rollers on the OBS model year trucks this video covers.

    Is the door safe and functional without this mechanism? In other words…..could I just remove the bad roller and pin and be done?

    • @jacobcallahan4780
      @jacobcallahan4780 Год назад

      Yes the door will still work but it will just swing freely. It’s kind of a feature to keep from accidentally dinging the door. All you have to do is remove the spring and your set.

  • @joaquinsolis7071
    @joaquinsolis7071 3 года назад

    You can pry out the spring with a screw driver also.

    Проще снять переднее крыло и не мучается, там доступа больше а так вся краска изцарапана!

      Мы бы не согласились, что проще ;-) Но, как и во многих проектах, есть несколько способов.
      We would disagree which is easier ;-) But, as with many projects, there are several ways.
