- Hey Theatre Thursday Fam!!! This video was highly requested and something I've been wanting to do for a long time-- like I said, talking about dream roles is low-key one of my favorite things to do!
So here's a list of my Top 5 Broadway Dream Roles (plus a ton of honorable mentions [oops]). If you want to share your top dream roles, feel free to write them in the comments below! I love seeing what you guys love, and who knows, maybe we'll all discover some new, awesome broadway shows in the process!
So here's hoping we ace those auditions and get to play all of our DREAM ROLES! Break a leg to all Theatre Thursday Fam!!!

Actually, originating a role is what gives you the stardom. Think about all the broadway actors and actresses. They haven't had their ultimate spotlight until they originated their own role but not when they were other roles. Cause when you look at someone, lets say, Sierra Boggess. She's been in a couple of shows before she originated the Broadway version of Ariel in The Little Mermaid. But her debut was once when she did that musical. Same with Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford. No one knew them until they were Christine and the phantom.

I'm not a performer, but I'm a musician and I would LOVE to be a pit musician for Hamilton or Wicked. Beauty and the Beast would be fantastic too!

I don't think I have a top 5 dream roles, but I'd love to play Dawn in a production of Waitress (I'd need to work on my upper register a lot ... but she's a fun, cute character), Genie from Aladdin (I could be a bari-tenor if I wanted to), Smitty in How to Succeed, Ruth Two Bears in Dogfight, Donkey in Shrek, Jan in Grease, and be in the ensemble for productions of In the Heights, Allegiance, Tuck Everlasting, American Idiot, Hello Dolly and Godspell.

Sarah Villacarillo I got cast as Lindsay in my school's production of Godspell, it was amazing
I’m too young right now but I always hope to be play Edie in grey gardens later. It’s such a heart rending show. Such an unusual structure and absolutely brilliant lyrics - not one word goes to waste characterizing these two women.

I have soooooooo many dream roles, both female and male. My biggest include Heather Chandler, Evan Hansen, Quasimodo, Roger Davis, and JD, to name a few.
Also, I LOVE the idea of gender-bending male roles in musicals! I've so often found that a lot of roles written for women are unfortunately less developed and less dynamic than males roles in the same shows (the industry is getting better at this, though), both vocally and dramatically, so I think gender-bending male roles is a GREAT solution to this. It would also create a lot more roles for altos and contraltos too, assuming the music doesn't change.
i needed to see this today also someone cast me as a genderbent miles tuck in like ten years

1. NALA in The Lion King (the first musical I saw and she's such a complex character)
2. PEGGY in Hamilton (Honestly, AND PEGGY is my favourite line in any musical)
3. EPONINE in Les Miserables ('On My Own' is such a beautiful song to sing and I can relate to her)
4. MIMI in Rent (Mimi has many different sides to her and it would be fun to explore that)
5.ELPHABA in Wicked (If I could hit that high note in 'Defying Gravity' I could do anything...

elle woods - legally blonde (i love how she grows so much as a person throughout the show)
teen fiona - shrek (it’d be so fun to play the stereotypical overdramatic teenage girl for once)
rapunzel - into the woods (her vocal parts are so challenging and dynamic)
christine daae - phantom of the opera (same as rapunzel and elle)
liesl vontrapp - the sound of music (same as teen fiona)
angelica schuyler - hamilton (too many reasons, but mainly because her vocals sit perfectly in my range lol)
belle - beauty and the beast (i’ve always loved belle and i’d just love to fulfil my childhood dream of being her)
AND CLARA JOHNSON IN THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA BECAUSE YES SUCH A GOOD SHOW AND CLARA WOULD BE SUCH A FUN ROLE
mind you i’m too young for all these except for teen fiona 😂 and i love how half those roles are mezzo belters and half are soprano ingenues yikes
I played violin in a local production of Bridges of Madison County and omg that score is so gorgeous! I had so much fun playing for that show.

2. Wendy: Peter Pan(i've already played Peter)
3. Peggy: Hamilton
4. Charlotte: Thirteen
5: Little Red from Into the Woods preferably sometime in the next year so I'm not too old.

My dream role has been Christine Daae since I was eight. I took ballet classes am taking voice lessons specifically because I know you need ballet experience to play Christine and a good voice. I have practiced building and expanding my vocal range for almost six years since I saw the movie! Well, I'd be fine with playing Christine in Love Never Dies or Phantom of the Opera. Either one is amazing, and 'Beneath a Moonless Sky' is my favorite musical song ever! Anyway, I've been working through most of my life to get to a point where I can make a career in musical theatre and hopefully get a chance to play Christine. I feel it's unrealistic, but I've spent a while working towards my goal and still have plenty of time to go. I feel like it'll pay off someday, and I'll get to play her somehow, whether it's on Broadway, a school show, or a touring company production. I'm very hopeful I'll get a chance someday!

For the last 10 years, Lion King has been my favorite! I've spent countless hours studying the show. The art, the dance, the four different African languages sung and spoken throughout the show. EVERYTHING. I'd honestly love to just be in the ensemble. But IF I were to play a lead role, logistically I'd only be able to play Ed, Zazu or Timon. BUUUUT working in the puppet shop as an artist for the tour is absolutely good enough for me! BTW, I've stayed up practically all night watching your videos. I'm obsessed. You're amazing, fam.
