This story based on the novel The Viy written by Nikolai Gogol, a Russian novelist, short story writer and playwright of Ukrainian origin. Yes, he was born in Ukraine near Poltava/ central Ukraine.
All I have to say is wow this is one hell of a good movie. I have never even heard of this but I was pleasantly surprised. I would reccomend this movie to anyone interested in fantasy, mystery and a little horror mixed in.😮
Thanks for the upload. The movie was so cut up and edited. It would be nice to see the whole unedited version. These Russian film makers produce real wild stuff. They have an art and craft that is unlike anything else.
You should see a movie titled Guardians and another titled Black Lightning.
Guardians is a Russian movie, but dubbed in English also.
Black Lightning is about a car, but think it got remade for USA release.
Both were good movies in my opinion.

May be they witnessed real wild stuff or in USSR period they were subjected to wild stuff. They lost the innocence and simplicity of a human mind. I feel sorry for them, at the same time, I like happy they acknowledge God's presence in this world.
Do you say this is edited and cut-up because you've seen the original? Or does it just look like it has been chopped?
A very good movie. Other's are saying they had trouble hearing it but I had no problem. I used my earbuds 😊👍

I strongly recommend all these movies to everyone. all of these movies are amazing.

That is the strangest movie I have ever watched.
It makes Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange
look like a romp through the park.
clock work orange is pretty hardcore violence that i probably would not allow my children watch. This movie is more fun with scary monsters and interesting fantastic sets. I would let my children watch. but yes clockwork orange is an amazing movie with a great story.

It's like first meeting between English and Balkan folks. In "behinde" is autochtone Pataren Church and all is very fun and scary. Nice.🙂
