I have lived with a little rescue cat for four years. She had been badly treated and had lost all trust in people. I set out to help her and eventually she stopped biting and scratching me, and she came to enjoy life again. She died suddenly last Saturday. I am bereft. I find signs of our love in so many parts of my day. She taught me so much. She was my teacher.

You should be very happy you reminded her there was love and she died in peace. That's a fine thing.

I lost my beloved cat Seven over a year ago and my other love (her brother named Bitten) just nine months earlier.
I had such a special and unique bond with these two cats. I’ve had felines all my life but these two were sent to me for higher purposes it seemed.
Bitten was like a little Buffalo love bug.
He looked like he was always wearing saggy pants from behind and he had polka dots on his nose and chin.
He taught me so much about unconditional love, he showed me the best parts of life.
His sister Seven was like a part of me.
She was so small but fierce and such a delicate, feminine, murderous little angel.
She was a pure huntress. But she loved me so much and although she would hunt and kill all day, she was so loving and gentle with me. She would sleep on my pillow every night and drool on my face before she settled in mf or the night.
I’ve never had love like the love that was so freely given to me by these two animals.
They were both rescues, they were both truly a part of my soul.
I’ve never felt loved like that.
      They taught me so much.
They made me a better person.
Your post really struck a chord with me even though I see it’s four years old.
Thank you, and it makes me feel something I cannot describe to know that another person felt like their cat was not a pet but their teacher.
I feel exactly the same way.
May peace always be with you my dear friend.
      Much love ❤️

Balkh is said to be the mother of all the cities and it's true this mother has produced so many beautiful intellects. Starting with Rumi, to Avisina to Robya and so many more

For after all the great religions have been preached and expounded, or have been revealed by brilliant scholars, or have been written in fine books and embellished in fine language with finer covers, man, -all man- is still confronted by the Great Mystery.
    -Chief Luther Standing Bear, Lakota
I wonder what Rumi would think about the Chiefs statement?

If this is what you get and like from Rumi. Read Quran to see where he learned all best things. Quran is the most beautiful book of light and guidance you will ever read if you are lucky.

he found his path through his Pir

The path is the quran. There is no rumi without Islam. He was a Muslim period and his teacher was also Muslim. The sufi way is not outside the quran.

Should be more precise - Shams addressed him as "my friend"; others were disciples to him. I refer to the book " Jalal-al-din Rumi" RSSB edition 2019

The great thing about Jesus is he admonished the adept and the sage and initiated the profane with only one requirement "believe". True Love by all means............ Praise God All Glory to God
