That's the longest top 5 video I've seen and THANK GOD this is not just a regular top 5 video, with only 5 mainstream jrpgs. I just bought a new PSP and I was looking for some RPG games I've never played. Thanks, that's one of the best reccomendation videos I've ever seen.
Just started watching your channel. You are one of the few big collectors that descrube story lines. Which means you play all these games which is awesome.
I appreciate the format, peppering your top 5 with groups of honorable mentions throughout. Also nice to see someone giving some of these gems a fair shake!
I just started watching you after I found a PSP at a garage sale for $10 and needed ideas for games, even if they were more unorthodox like J-RPGs and some of these look really cool! Subscribed!
2 thumbs up for the great list! Have been playing rpgs (only) since Lufia 2 on SNES 25-something years ago and so many wonderful landscapes since. For psp, fell in love with Crimson Gem Saga. Though its really demanding grind-wise, for some reason, I never got tired of it. The battles are always fun (actually learned theres a few tricks to adding in extra combos about 70% of the way through game lol) and the story is JUST what the traditionalist craves. As well..the Legend of Heros series (the 1st 3) are not to be missed, bad reviews be damned. But yeah, damn good reviews! You have traveled far and lived well to be in possession of such knowledge and I salute you!
GamezOf War I just subscribed. Your videos are excellent. We have a lot in common. Lunar Silver Star on Sega CD is also my all time favorite game. I just finished Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time on the PSP and it was AWESOME. It is actually my favorite RPG on the PSP. Did you ever get around to playing it? Here's a few of my all time favorite RPG games: 1-Lunar Silver Star on Sega CD 2-Xenogears PS1 3-FF7 PS1 4-Baldur's Gate 1-2 on PC 5-Xenosaga 1-2-3 PS2 6-Grandia PS1 7-Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time PSP I'm going to check out some of your other videos. Thank you for all of them.
I was about to head to bed as well then I saw a new vid up. Great picks for the PSP and I have a few of them myself time to increase my collection of RPG's. Keep up the great work you have been doing with your channel.
Great recommendations as always, man. Been playing Ys Chronicles 1&2 on my Vita (originally on PSP) and it is amazing. I really recommend it to everyone that may read this. I'm a musician and its one of (if not ) my favorite soundtracks in an RPG along with Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy vi, Suikoden, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest, etc You even have 3 options for every single song. Basically from basic Midi to real band and instruments; all o them worth a listen. The combat is fantastic after you get used to it. Its length is just appropriate. It's difficult (except a couple of battles) is just fine. It is so good, I recommend it to everyone. I also recommend Alundra!!
MusicRed yea man, I am a guitar player as well...check out threeasone music page on Facebook if you get a free minute...acoustic music with a buddy of mine on rhythm guitar, i play lead and his wife sings.
Wow, had 3 versions of psp, but was never into jrpgs, + did not knew English as a kid, seems like I've missed a lot of great games. Thx for the provided list, will definitely check out some of the entries in the future.
You brought back memories, thank you sir you hit the nostalgia spot real good, I had most of those games and they were awesome, great video can't wait for the Xbox originals buyers guide it should be epic.
not realy much to comment on stuff but i want to give you and your channel 2 thumbs up iv been watching your stuff from the start and each and every time you surprise me the quality of your video's is all ways improving the subject matter is great keep up the great work dude
That's a great list. My PSP battery blew up but thankfully a good chunk of these games are available to play digitally through the Vita. Ys games are awesome, thinking of playing Origins for the PS4 next.
Excellent choices man! Our lists are very similar. Jeanne D'ark would squeeze it's way into the list long with, a couple of the Sting games, FFIV Complete, and probably either Lunar or one of the Ys games. Makes me think of how we were supposed to get Grand Knight Kingdom, but the translation fell through...
What a wonderful video!! Only Games of war could do it!! I would suggest you trying also Untold legends, Phantasy Star portable 1 and 2, and D&D Tactics!! All amazing rpg games! Carry on this way!! GOW Rules!!!
I beat ff7 on ps1 at age of 21. holy cow, I barely spoke/ understood English at time. And there were no guides nor RUclips back then. Final boss was like 80k. and something hp's, if I'm not mistaken. Killed from 2nd try, I remember my 💓 was pounding at 200/ minute while battling) oh memories..
So cool video. I have 3 PS Vitas, but no one PSP. And it is so interesting to listen about this console and games on it. So cool-looking RPG's. Jean D'Ark - the best! Thank you for this video!
PSP man, my favourite! Always enjoy your content on this under appreciated system. Still looking out for that YS books 1+2 box set! With all the essential titles coming out on PS4 this year though, gaming money is tight!!
I wish we could get another portable system with its own unique games. The Switch is cool but it's just games you could also play on your TV. I was bummed when the 3DS got shelved.
I never had a PSP. I finally got around to it because I wanted to try the versions of FFT, and Tactics Ogre on the system. I also got Jean D'Arc and Wild Arms xf
i been watching alot of your videos =p i got to say i love it. Mainly because we have alot of similar tastes. X) glad to see more RPG Collectors out their on youtube. =) P.S. Jelly of your Fire Emblem Collector Edition in background.... T.T my got canceled.
I had the District Manager of Gamestop Apologizing to me, because i never got the warning, never got the phone call i was suppose to get that my order was canceled, case it wasnt when i got their. I went on Gamestop's Rewards program it still said it was valid. If i knew it was canceled i had people that could had hooked me up to get a copy.
Ys 6 the ark of napishtim still remains one of my fav RPGs on the psp. Also, tales of the world: radiant mythology and FFTwotl. Psp has so many great games. The nostalgia is very real. Great times!
i'm super curious. How do you find the time to play all these games?? I have so much trouble trying to finish even one rpg. Do you tend to just play the main story to experience the game, but not necessarily 100%? Skip the grinding? What's your usual playstyle? I love rpg's but they are really intimidating for me to start unless i have an entire free day to dedicate and really dive in.
misterkeebler it depends really, how into the game I get if I do all the additional missions etc...I just get off work and play the shit out of some games, some days I play music or hang with the wife..most of these I bought played and finished when they came out.
Makes sense. Just amazes me how you remember so many little things about all these rpgs. But that's why i like the channel! Found a lot of gems from watching the vids. Thanks.
I'm actually annoyed that I remember every little detail from games I play YEARS after I play them. I see people replaying games yet im stuck here remembering everything that happened. I still remember the entire story of shining force 2 AFTER 8 years...
Just dug my psp out but only get 3 games left for it and they are r.p.g.s and you showed 2 on this video ( the legend of heroes and tales of eternia) the other game is(untold legends the warriors code ) .I'm new to your channel but I love it cos I'm a massive fan of r.p.g games ,
I imported the PSP Lunar and I thought it was great. An interesting fact is that in the UK we only got the digital PSP version and we did not get Lunar on Mega CD or PS1.
This year I decided to try psp version of Yggdra Union to see if its just nostalgia, giving it a try again proves that Yggdra Union still the best rpg I have ever played. After that I decided to try the whole series, Knights in the Nightmare is such an unforgettable experience and Gungnir is such a top notch strategy rpg with its awesome difficulty.
I wish they would release more of these games on the Vita. the PSP is my favorite handheld by far. there was just so many awesome games and even games we didn't get here were awesome as well.
I never had a PSP back in the day, but I've been meaning to pick one up, especially to play the 2 Japanese Yakuza spin offs that are on there. Luckily though, I've been able to play a few PSP games like Persona, FF IV through the Vita and damn, I can tell how much of an awesome system it would of been during it's days just by playing a couple of games!
Of course the PSP has an amazing RPG Library!!! There's no way that those games can be represented adequately!!! You need to be fully invested in the portable gaming market in order to be relevant! Great recommendations! Great video and keep up the good work!!!
A little tip to you, when recording on games, do not be so far from the camera, we can not even read the title on the cover, especially those who wear glasses like me
i really want to get PSP but i'm confused with the models so which one you recommend to me the 1000, 2000 or 3000? also good job man another good video keep it up!
Get a PSP 3000 or 2000. I've got PSP 1000 But it has 32MB Ram so it's slow when in comes to heavy games suc has GoW. Ect, just don't get a PSP 1000, Go or E-1000.
Как же долго я искал твоего обзорчика на RPG и JRPG игры на платфору psp ) Закачано 65 gb , потрачено кучу времени и все в пустую ... В основном находишь какие-нибудь заезженные игры ( в топах) которые не по разу проходил
Fantastic video bro ! Finally got my Vita thanks to your great recommendation. The PSP is next ...... are their variations in the PSP screens that you aware of ?
i dont understand english very well. I want to know all tittles you mentioned in the video so I can search about each one. can you make a list of all games you spoke about?
Wow, I clicked on this expecting praise for the same games I've heard about a million times, but this is one hell of a top 5(?) list. I wish game journalists were like this. I'm so tired of their low gaming knowledge, crazy biases, shitting on games for extremely stupid reasons, and overall just seeming like they don't really have a passion for the hobby.
I'm a newcomer to the YS series and I started on memories of celceta on the ps vita since I have a ps vita. I have a question is the 3 YS games you showed in the video compatible with the ps vita? I have a psp but I rather play it on the ps vita
You might find them on the PlayStation store. As for grabbing a physical copy, the Vita does not have a UMD reader. So, you either have to buy a PSP or grab them on the PS Store.

I know I'm a little late, but this is a great video. I still play my pspgo every day. Currently addicted to Elminage Original.
I appreciate the format, peppering your top 5 with groups of honorable mentions throughout. Also nice to see someone giving some of these gems a fair shake!

Roaming Dan it really does man, the PSP library is just killer!

At 8:10 the over world music from Bravely Default plays - is the same music used in the game you're reviewing?
*Corrections*
Ys Vii is also available on VITA; Crisis core is prequel not continuation of FF VII
Tom Is a Door yea man, off the cuff.
I forget things sometimes,lol
Lunar Silver Star Story Complete needs a re release on the PS4 with HD remaster or a straight PSP port with a physical release.
Darrell Dath I'd prefer a proper 3rd game in the series!! But I'd take an HD version of the Sega CD original!
isn't lunar 2 the third game?
3:21
Crisis Core is not a continuation. It is a prequel.
Как же долго я искал твоего обзорчика на RPG и JRPG игры на платфору psp ) Закачано 65 gb , потрачено кучу времени и все в пустую ... В основном находишь какие-нибудь заезженные игры ( в топах) которые не по разу проходил

Rhetorical Synchron oh man!! Big improvement!! I love the PSP version the best!
Wow, I clicked on this expecting praise for the same games I've heard about a million times, but this is one hell of a top 5(?) list.
I wish game journalists were like this. I'm so tired of their low gaming knowledge, crazy biases, shitting on games for extremely stupid reasons, and overall just seeming like they don't really have a passion for the hobby.
name of the game at 1:46
enjoyed the video man
Joshua Jensen thanks bro!
I'm a newcomer to the YS series and I started on memories of celceta on the ps vita since I have a ps vita. I have a question is the 3 YS games you showed in the video compatible with the ps vita? I have a psp but I rather play it on the ps vita
Anime Freak I think so, not 100% sure tho..
You might find them on the PlayStation store. As for grabbing a physical copy, the Vita does not have a UMD reader. So, you either have to buy a PSP or grab them on the PS Store.
What's the best order to play the Ys games?
trencher7 ys books 1&2, oath in felghana, then ys 7....on psp
It would be nice if you would show the Names of the games on screen, or in the Deskription.
