Although having left Norfolk many years ago I have fond memories of my cousin and I playing in the ruins of the old lodge, that was before the ironwork was installed of course. Never saw or heard the ghost though, nor the terrible guardian rabbit. Must say I've never heard the rabbit legend before, that's new to me, although my grandfather used to warn us to take care and be careful of the ghost. Some of the old-timers in the area certainly used to call the place 'the leper warren', so there's probably some truth in the story that a leper did indeed reside there at some point in the past. Anyway, great video with superb drone footage. Stirred memories of my childhood long past, enjoyed it very much. Thanks for uploading.
Hi thanks for the kind comments. How interesting hearing from someone with past connections to the lodge. When you used to visit was the staircase accessible and did you have access to the upper floor? Or was that already gone by that time?
@@HauntedandAbandonedNorfolk : Hi there. Back during the mid 60's, when I was a nipper, there was no upper floor nor roof on the place. Gazing up from the ground floor it was just open sky above. I do seem to recall the stairs were dangerously open, as were all the doorways. One of my great uncles was a warrener for Euston estate, from around the time of the Great War through to the 1960's, and his son, now in his mid 80's, is an absolute mine of information on the subject. He donated much of what remained of his father's warrener equipment, nets, 'ruttlin poles', traps etc, to the museum in Brandon, where they're all currently on display. Incidentally, both my great uncle and and my grandfather knew the family who lived in the lodge cottage before it sadly burnt down. Next time I visit my second cousin I'll glean a bit more info from him about the place.
Thanks very much - got a few snowy clips of different locations to follow in the next couple of months - just editing those presently - cheers for tuning in 🙂
Thanks for commenting 🙂 - another one of my favourite locations to visit - an eerie looking medieval building - right on the edge of the forest - creepy place
