What I have picked up in the video is that the people living in the area are reclaimers “waste pickers”, drug addicts, and old people. Here is what I think since reclaimers are helping in a way of collecting reusable resources, the community should pay them some money to clean the area all the time since they are not well paid in that case this will encourage others who are unemployed to work as reclaimers and find better places to live than occupying urban spaces. Secondly, the drug addicts, this one is a very tough one but some addicts are not there willingly, maybe if the NGOs can come in and help those who want to recover by taking them to rehabilitation facilities reducing the number of addicts in the area, and since I saw a building that looks like it is abandoned it could be turned into a home where churches go to to feed the homeless and where they live. Lastly, old people could be taken to old age homes with the help from the government and the law should not negotiate with the dwellers when such measures are being taken because it is unacceptable to see such beautiful spaces turning into dumping sites and being degraded.

Amen, why they don't go home. Most South Africans have original homes with their elders. Why if you loose a job you stay on the street rather going home where you sleep fed.
I'm a white middle class single female who's not earning enough. I could loose my home any minute and I've no idea where I could go. I have an elderly mum too to take off. The situation is real. I can't even afford to buy a trailer camper if I needed one.
Samantha, don't feel alone. I stayed in my car already. I'm lucky to have a roof over my head, being unemployed (I met a guy who gave me place to stay, we're now a couple). If it wasn't for him, I'd still be living in my car. Eventually, I had to sell my car to, just to have money to survive

I like the street people program city of cape Town have been running...it benefits the homeless but unfortunately they're so use to the street life they cant see themselves living any other way and refuse every bit of help that isn't money. I only feel for the innocent kids having to be raised on the street because of the choices their parent's made
I was so hurt by my friend when she said ANC has nothing to do with the crime rates. It’s a personal choice to behave badly and no political party can influence it or otherwise 😭 💔
We have the same problem an Jimmy Aves park in Pretoria and the problem is only getting worse. Increased burglaries and fear for me as a parent for the health and safety of my children.
Problem starts from the Border where we have many illegal immigrants coming to SA and currently SA has high unemployment so where do we expect this people to stay coming from foreign countries illegally and they are not working or earing less wage with many children obviously they will go for open spaces and put shacks, police move them and they go the next space and those who stays in suburbs close to these shacks will suffer. Truth needs to be told with these sharks and people sleeping in the parks it's mostly people who came illegally from foreign countries and our ANC is responsible for that
Heidelberg GP sits with the same problem. Because it us in such close proximity to JHB and it is still a "small town", homeless people stream here. I have a shelter accommodating 68 homeless people and we are constantly full. To those we can not help with accommodation, we have donated 104000 meals in 2023. Massive problem and getting worse..
They should get the homeless people with drug problems to work digging in mines or building roads to keep them the drugs. There's a lot of work they can do to benefit society
That property in Parkhurst is a ticking time bomb. The worst is yet to come. All sorts of people roaming freely and doing as they please. Everyone is taking advantage of the system.
It's worldwide mate, not only SA. People must think about who they are putting into power as their lives are in their hands. We need leaders and not rulers, there is a difference
I will be on the street after being divorced and not working for 20 years, the judge said I have to go and work? I have been trying to find a job for 2 years know with no not even a single job interview! All the employment agency's keep promising but without prevail?
This is heartbreak 💔 all we can do is to pray that someday things change. I understand a child who lost the parents and don't know the relatives if they stay in the street but others i really don't understand. You find very young people on street and old people. If you are born in SA you have rural area home why not go back if things are not working out. All those people staying in informal settlements in December they go home why dont you do so if things don't work. I would really like to understand their mindset because you can't put measures in place if you understand people's mindset. Not all us we meant to be rich or live in cities. You can live a functional life in rural areas. This is really disappointing. These politicians are really annoying not even one party deserve my vote even worse ANC. This issue should be a priority.
Gosh, how many of these people would have been formally employed 20y, 10y, 5y ago? If you vote for a government that reduces your global competitiveness over decades...
Thats the thing, giving homeless people free meals is not the solution bcs there are other problems that come with that. Great that one receives a meal and kept from being hungry for that day but empowering them is the key
@@duanemnisi3721none taken. And l wish you could come through and see what Zim actually is like before drawing your conclusion. We have crime here too (like everywhere in the world). And in the last few years it’s becoming increasingly violent in nature as well (it used to be significantly nonviolent… l remember negotiating with my four muggers for the return of my ID in the dark street while walking from work). My observation, having lived in both countries,… is that Zimbabwean correctional services is not a space you ever want to find yourself in. There is extremely limited comfort (or food in there… so if your relatives do not constantly bring you sustenance, you will languish). That being said, people are struggling to get by (with our economy not allowing for anything other than economy related activities… so if your relative starts doing illegal things the consensus is they know the above consequences I have already outlined and will understand if those choosing to stay on the legal path will struggle to make time to go provide for them while they are languishing in prison). The downside is if you find yourself falsely accused and caught up in the legal system (and your relatives knowing you implicitly to be innocent), they too will now be caught up in having to ensure they assist the state in taking care of you while you serve out your time.
I hate how people can just set up squatter camps everywhere & then demand free services. Communities should take control and owners of their community assets
So sad this country has so much potential but it is being dragged into the ground😢 This country needs a government that truly cares, that is not corrupt, greedy and full of false promises....I see no future, but I still pray for hope for this country. Where are the jobs that the government are creating.... ? Ones that are non-corrupt positions and stable secure positions. There are many factors that play a role in joblessness but I truly feel that some factors play a bigger role than others like the government..... Some people turn to drugs as a way to cope with their situation thus one should focus on the main root causes.....

@@tt.k1794but there is a difference from people speaking Sesotho from Lesotho and those that are from the Free State and other parts of the country
People must go to shelters or else get arrested, period.
Even with shelters you need to pay I don't understand that because they are sponsored by NGO'S and some people just want to be on the streets
@@Wendells234
NGO’s, NPO’s is a money making racket
I wish this showed more of the homeless peoples perspective.
I can't even afford to buy a trailer camper if I needed one.
...the Lord Jesus wants your attention. Open up to him.
You can get to know other people who are also willing to get to know you, then you not single anymore 😏
@@maritazietsman7691 Dear Mari. I count my blessings everyday. My mum and I are waiting for our house to have an offer. I'm not sure where we will go after we sell.
I pray my house does not get auctioned. Its winter here now and very cold.
I'm so glad you found someone to be your loving partner.
I like the street people program city of cape Town have been running...it benefits the homeless but unfortunately they're so use to the street life they cant see themselves living any other way and refuse every bit of help that isn't money. I only feel for the innocent kids having to be raised on the street because of the choices their parent's made
That first story is terrifying. Imagine getting shot in a local park.
I was so hurt by my friend when she said ANC has nothing to do with the crime rates. It’s a personal choice to behave badly and no political party can influence it or otherwise 😭 💔
😢I see walled cities coming soon...Poverty & Homelessness are a growing pandemic all over the world & its concerning.
Orania residents saw this coming. Many more independent states will emerge.
The appalling destruction of South Africa continues...
30 years ago I had such high hopes for this country...
Malvern in the east of Johannesburg it's literally the same thing.
Truth needs to be told with these sharks and people sleeping in the parks it's mostly people who came illegally from foreign countries and our ANC is responsible for that
True and they keep breeding
VERY VERY TRUE
TSEK cANCer!!!!
Government looses revenue when businesses dont do well .......but tgey cant think that far cause the government also wants hand outs ....
Cant even walk your dog in SA
Heidelberg GP sits with the same problem. Because it us in such close proximity to JHB and it is still a "small town", homeless people stream here. I have a shelter accommodating 68 homeless people and we are constantly full. To those we can not help with accommodation, we have donated 104000 meals in 2023. Massive problem and getting worse..
wow, this sounds like they are talking about the UK, getting bad everywhere. sad times for humanity
We need jobs to have homes and our Saps and all security jobs need to pitch in to help or the Army to stop people coming into our country illegally.
The exact same thing with some shelters on Long Island. People don't want to abide by curfews or no alcohol/drug rules.
Thats what happens with anc eff governance
May 29th national IQ test. Make a change 👍🏻
thanks ANC
They should get the homeless people with drug problems to work digging in mines or building roads to keep them the drugs. There's a lot of work they can do to benefit society
Yes so they can sweat out all the toxins in the body
That property in Parkhurst is a ticking time bomb. The worst is yet to come. All sorts of people roaming freely and doing as they please. Everyone is taking advantage of the system.
It's worldwide mate, not only SA. People must think about who they are putting into power as their lives are in their hands. We need leaders and not rulers, there is a difference
TAPZ is everywhere!!!
Creating their own natural habit.
RIP.... SA....
I will be on the street after being divorced and not working for 20 years, the judge said I have to go and work? I have been trying to find a job for 2 years know with no not even a single job interview! All the employment agency's keep promising but without prevail?
Food should only be available at shelters!
My dear, how else are the neighbours going to show off how benevolent they are?

And the government feels a feather! As long as they can fill their pockets..
I love Delta park. I stayed in Blairgowrie and was walking distance to Delta Park.
ANC voters wants us to suffer.
This country is becoming dangerous...😢
Not becoming it IS.
Don't blame the ANC, the DA is allowing the same thing to happen in Cape Town
Gosh, how many of these people would have been formally employed 20y, 10y, 5y ago?
If you vote for a government that reduces your global competitiveness over decades...
The minimum wage limit also makes it, that no one can afford to employ anyone.
Way too many illegal immigrants. Yes ee all understand that people want a better life but so do South Africans.
Thats the thing, giving homeless people free meals is not the solution bcs there are other problems that come with that. Great that one receives a meal and kept from being hungry for that day but empowering them is the key
Carte Blanche join us in Germiston we have double these numbers
I don’t see any women here. What’s wrong with men? 😢
Hehehe... African best country indeed!
BLAME THE ANC
If unemployment causes people to rob then why a country like Zimbabwe the cases are not high.Too much democracy causes problems.
Honestly, No offense but, The assets might be less there compared to SA. Meaning less opportunity and desire for thieves to steal.
@@duanemnisi3721 so what are you going to say about shacks. Please be quick to answer.
What people don't understand is that this is a planned Global Issue lots and lots of people to lose their assets watch this space
I agree with you. It the mindset of South Africans is so wrong.
Got the working country for free and they totally destroyed it such ungrateful people who don’t give a $hit about their broken surroundings
South Africa and the Anc can no coexist........
As long as there's equality in SA crime will never stop, and there's companies who thrive from crime
So it's forever, people are not equal!
How I love this park😥
As southafricans we love shack so this problem isn't going anywhere anytime soon.We should stop the blaming the government
The problem is wealth inequality. I dont know why we love to blame the poor for being poor in a country as historically messed up as ours.
Joburg is vrot! Viva ANC....
I hate how people can just set up squatter camps everywhere & then demand free services. Communities should take control and owners of their community assets
Yes viva Black government and management
you dont move to joburg for a better life
So sad this country has so much potential but it is being dragged into the ground😢 This country needs a government that truly cares, that is not corrupt, greedy and full of false promises....I see no future, but I still pray for hope for this country. Where are the jobs that the government are creating.... ? Ones that are non-corrupt positions and stable secure positions. There are many factors that play a role in joblessness but I truly feel that some factors play a bigger role than others like the government..... Some people turn to drugs as a way to cope with their situation thus one should focus on the main root causes.....
we live in a divided nation, we don't like poverty on our doorsteps, we never did, we're still segregated.
