Hi M. Blades, I’m from Montreal. I knew there a way to make music easy to understand. You just gave me the answer to my question. I’m also a teacher myself and know well that there are more than one way to explain what ever the subject. I thank you very much Sir.
I can’t believe how lucky I am to find your channel just at the time when I started to look more closely at chords. Your method of teaching is excellent allowing me to be able to play music while learning. I understand that the theory is important but for me it is easier to play first and use that to understand the theory.
Hi John, that’s so kind of you to say, thank you very much 🤩 I agree with you, the theory is really important and it’s so much easier to get when you can apply it to something that you can actually play. Otherwise it can all seem a bit abstract. Thanks again and please let me know if there’s content that you’d like to see 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
Jackie thank you so much for your feedback and I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to know that you are finding it easier to get your head around it because of my video. It literally makes my day 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
Rex thank you for saying this. I’m so happy that this is helping you and please stay in touch and let me know how you’re getting on with it. Thanks again 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎
Very helpful and in a simple way of playing over those chord progressions. I'll be trying that out. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed with what scales I'll be playing in the more jazz type of songs. You're approach makes it a lot easier. Thank you!
Thank you Lynden. Your instructions are very structured, very straight to the point and most importantly, very easy to understand. Your tone is absolutely beautiful, do you happened to have a tutorial on how to develop a tone like yours?
George thank you, that’s really kind of you to say on all counts! Personally I spent many years practicing in an apartment in London and I had to play incredibly quietly because the neighbours would complain otherwise and I’ve always wondered if that had a beneficial effect. Here’s a tutorial that I made on tone for you: Tone tutorial for saxophone. ruclips.net/video/Vru1idWPb1A/видео.html 🤝🤝😎🎷😎😎
Excellent video lesson lynden, I've got it now, can't wait to practice this tomorrow, and if I've got it I'm sure there must be other Saxophonist's out there thinking the same as me, thanks again and ile let you know how I get on 😊
Yes that's it. Simplicity. I play like this on sax. On piano, I use substitutions, fast tempo, altered scales, chromatims because my jazz skills are lots higther. But people listening to my solos prefers the sax ones 😂. Ben Webster is My Master since I do sax, and it begins to change my way of improvising on piano. Good thing. Thx for the video
Another great video Lynden. Your explanations are so easy to follow. Maybe you can pick a standard each month and breakdown the cords like this. Cheers!
Hi M Lyndon, Wilson again. I needed to go back on that notion again. Sounds good! Don’t worry if your coffee is not sweet enough. I will fix it. That was too well explained. I feel good….
That’s an absolutely brilliant suggestion, thank you 🎷🎷🤝🤝😎😎 I have made this which might help? Improvising for saxophone using a scale pattern called "thirds" ruclips.net/video/0nrGIhL_QkI/видео.html

I understand the theory - what the 251 represents with respect to a scale. What I can’t get is how the -7 or 7 or any of the other “clues” tell you that’s what the progression is. Can you explain how these “clues” tell you this? Why for example does it not suggest a IV-V-I progression? I understand that the notes wouldn’t tie in with that progression but not sure how you get to first base-if that makes sense.
Anna thank you for your feedback and questions. It’s probably easiest to email me, lynden@saxandhoney.com because trying to type a detailed answer on my phone is really tricky. I’d like to help you though 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎

Is it safe to say that this backing track is changing keys or modulates? Hence why you went from C major modes to C minor modes? Also, I know the chord chart gives you a clue, I'm trying to hear it.
Thanks! You really know how to teach and get to the heart of the matter at hand. So clear and concise.
Thank you so much Frank, your support is greatly appreciated 🤝🤝🎷🎷😎😎

On Bars 9-12 it’s a major 2-5-1. What I don’t understand being new to this how you play a minor scale over it. Great video!
Thank you 🤩
The minor scale works because the first chord of the 251 is a Dorian minor. Does that make sense?
@@lyndenblades So the first chord in a 251 is like a key centre. Would that be right?

There’s no Bb7 in that chord chart, what is it that you’re not sure about?
