I have google chrome cast it is AMAZING. Their customer service is the best around. I would never go to anything else. I stream from my desk top, my tablet, laptop and phone. I bought it about 3 years ago. I hear things about speed, what speed. Never ever had any problems with speed, or buffering or anything. It is amazing :) I turned every dumb tv in my house into a smart tv. Love it!
You can cast the PC Desktop although the option is kind of hidden, or lets just say, wrongly placed. Google how to do it. You could do it on the previous version too.
0:40 many tvs actually do not power the usb port unless the tv is on, and the data signal to turn on the tv is sent over HDMI, not usb, so you should actually have it plugged into the wall

Your using your phone to find the right video on for example Netflix and then the chromecast will open the builtin netflix app and start playing the video. You can then do something else with your phone while the video is playing.
I don't think so. You will at least need a Wi-Fi network to make use of it, since the Chromecast uses that to communicate with your phone/tablet/computer.

A ridiculous limitation. My next phone will just support Miracast. I'd hope Moto might realize they're losing customers by disabling Miracast on their phones.

I like mine to do 480p or less. Running off a phone hotspot and 5mbps is fast in my rural area. That and plan data limits make for longer play time. Screen quality is fine by me at slower speeds.
You don't need your phone near the device to stream. It connects to the internet and streams from there. The only time you'd need your phone near the device is if you want to mirror your phone.

The other one has Chromecast built-in . The good thing is that you can also use it even on screens, if they have a HDMI port .
Interestingly on some TVs you can use the TV remote to control it to some extent. On my secondary store brand TV the remote can be used to pause, resume play and stop. Unfortunately fast forward does not work so one has to use the phone to skip commercials.On my primary LG this does not work.

That should work but you need two phones/tablets, one to create the hotpot and the other to connect to it and control the Chromecast. A phone cannot be on the network it creates.

Your using your phone to find the right video on for example Netflix and then the chromecast will open the builtin netflix app and start playing the video. You can then do something else with your phone while the video is playing.
you dont need the usb to connected to the tv for a home device to turn it off etc. hdmi is a data cable

maybe you need to enable your LGs CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) feature through the TVs menu.
