Thank you for this video! It’s been so insightful. I just wanted to ask about the visa interview. I’ve watched a lot of visa interview videos and a lot of them mentioned that there’s usually a question about “What are your plans after you study this course?” and a lot of people suggest not saying you plan to stay in the UK. I am wanting to study the GDL and of course that means I’d like to qualify in the UK. Just wanted to find out if it would work against me if my answer is that I’d like to stay in the UK to qualify? Or maybe you could give me a bit of insight into what your reply would be in this instance? Thanks so much! X
Honestly, this is a difficult one to advice on. Just be honest in your answer and be practical. What program would you like to undertake next and why? And that provides a practical and honest answer.
Hello, am Silas Osei Boateng , am a Ghanaian. I have watched your previous videos and i just need a little clarification. Please, After completing the BPTC are u automatically called to the bar before an application for pupilage is made.
Hi Silas! You may apply for pupillage during your GDL and BPTC year, pending your completion of the BPTC and Call to the Bar. Once you complete the BPTC and Qualifying Sessions required by the Inn (along with any other necessary requirements based on your own case), you should be Called to the Bar. Simply put your submission of Pupillage applications is not dependent on your Call, but undertaking Pupillage is (dependent on successful completion of the BPTC and Call).
Alright so generally to complete everything ( GDL + BPTC) does it take two years or 3 years? From your video previous videos you said it takes two years, but wanted to no if the pupilage also takes another year or could be combined which makes it exactly two years. And also is it possible to practice as a barrister immediately you are called to the bar even without a pupillage. Thanks hope to hear from you soon .
Silas Boateng Pupillage is an additional year. So this is the vocational stage. So far the videos have only covered the academies stage. You cannot practice as a Barrister until you have undertaken Pupillage and have Tenancy, if you wish to be a self-employed barrister. The information you desire is ahead of what I’ve covered so far so below is a link to the BSB website. And it has all the information on there. Also kindly go through the links in the description boxes, as they are also thoroughly detailed 😊 www.barstandardsboard.org.uk/training-qualification/becoming-a-barrister.html
