I've just found this video while trying to replace a customers H7 with a new one. Someone had done this before and the spring clips were both in the wrong place on her car. Thanks for the close up of the bulb holder and clip after fitting, made my refit so much easier.
Just a few tips anyone following this, the cut off in the buld, doesn't go to the Outside, it goes DOWN, there are two pins it rests on. Secondly, found it far easier and managing practically first time, to put the bulb in on its own, secure the pin, THEN re connect the electrics.
Thank you, took me an hour to finally find a video on this exact model because that god damn metal clamp came off. Was just barely able to see I did actually insert it correctly but the problem is if you pull up on it to release it spreads the legs of the clamp and it's just way too wide to hold the bulb in place, and I kept putting it back in that position. Finally got it in place by just clipping it in first, *then* inserting the bulb and then finally pushing the legs back together over the housing. No idea if that was how it's supposed to be done but it holds so whatever.
This was the most traumatising experience when doing something for my car. The exact same issue happened to me when the legs of the clamp did not hold where they were supposed to be at the bottom as soon as you press the top of it to clip it to the top of the housing. Thanks to your comment, it worked after a few tries, an hour of hopelessness and a sliced hand. You have to think backwards to figure that puzzle out.
if you want to change the bulb its easy you dont take the clips off you push down on the top of the clip then it expands then you take the bulb out when you put the new one in you pull the top of the clip up thats how you do it
@R4Hmans it shows error cause LED is using less power. Get LEDs with additional resistor module, then it should work fine without errors cause car wont know the difference.
The tab actually seems to point down on the original bulbs. And the bracket is completely over de sides. With the led bulb it seems to be twisted 90 degrees. That will seriously impact the light beam since the les does not emit light 360 degrees round.
This is the worst H7 light bulbs are had to change their Springs just full off you don't know how to put them back you don't know how the lightbulbs go back is absolutely ridiculous
It is! I cant find a replacent spring anywhere. been a month and 2 police stops the 2nd time i showed 2 police officers my problem and the bags of springs i bought and non appropriate. They agreed it was bad but a 3rd time wont work
Cheers buddy, nice and clear.. I hope you managed to get the right bulb.. I am going to try the bosh Plus 120 gigalight Still legal but hopefully brighter than standard
It is ilegal and will void your insurance in case of accident. But I think there is one that is approved and calibrated by OSRAM. Most Chinese LED are not brighter in long distance than original Halogen and blind other drivers from bad pattern.
Hello, great video, have the same car, my light bulb has stopped working, have you discovered another led version of H7 bulbs for head lights? Cheers pete 👍
I quite like my Astra but changing these bulbs makes me want to sell the car because of how much of a tedious and infuriating task it is and whoever designed the pins and the process to be this way is an utter moron.

I’ve been using these ones on my Astra K for nearly a year and a half now, very bright and powerful. You are able to fit everything inside the headlight and fit the dust caps back on. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/312650016998
@@shaggydappa Thanks for sending me over the link, I'll give them a go. Any ideas where I can get replacement dust caps? I dont have them for my main beam. Also do the bulb switch off if they overheat or through a lot of rain?
Tip: you can remove error messages with OBDII connection. But I strongly advice you that you shouldn't commit a change with obdII connection unless you know what you are doing
Watched your video before attempting to replace a blown dipped beam bulb on my Astra K series estate, 🤔all went well until the retaining clip came away from its mountings🤬, and then myself dropping the replacement bulb inside the plastic headlight casing🤬, can you see what you are doing, no, can you get both hands into the space / area of bulb holder, no, went to Halfords, they also could not fit the bulb or retaining clip after 20 mins of trying ( in pouring rain), went to my local auto centre, ended up removing the headlight unit to replace the retaining clip and bulb. A £45 bill later, makes it one very expensive replacement bulb.
Just had to deal with this nightmare, I kept inserting the bottom half first and trying to clip it in not understanding why it was too wide. If you pull up on it it's in the release position and it turns out I kept doing this when trying to fasten it. It needs to sit lower with the legs together, I found it easier to just clip it in and then push it back down/together over the housing after inserting the bulb.
Best video I've seen, the right amount of detail and straight forward information to follow. Thank you it made changing the bulb really easy.

Thank you for this, just bought an Astra and the headlights are awful. Bought some better bulbs, fingers crossed they are better!
Just buy night breaker they are bright and you don’t get the bulb failed warning
@@adriancarter825 Do you have a link?

The leds dont need (passive) cooling?
I need some new headlight bulbs for mine? Any recommendations to get them near xenon colour and brightness?

Are they road legal and MOT pass ?
Can you do a video on changing the DRL on the astra k
Hallo! Many owners of opel astra k are waiting someone to retrofit tail ligths with led and make a video!
It is ilegal and will void your insurance in case of accident. But I think there is one that is approved and calibrated by OSRAM. Most Chinese LED are not brighter in long distance than original Halogen and blind other drivers from bad pattern.
@@rondhole hallo, i mean all the tail light original from opel like matrix models.
R4hmans could you do a video on how to replace Fog Lights on Astra H, many thanks Bro!!
Tried this and the metal pin came fully off is it possible to slot back in easily?
It’s okay now sorted it after 20 mins of fiddling about
The clips fell out and it was headache getting them back in again
Anyone know how to order the H7 Spring clip for the H7 light bulb, ive lost my one and need to order another spring clip
Euro parts sell it
Thanks for the video. Ive changed bulb but still not working so thinks it could be the fuse. No idea which fuse it is, manual has confused me

@r4hmans have you tried this bulb out and is it good? Also do you know where I can get the dust caps for an astra k for the headlight covers?
The clips need doing from the bottom…. If anyone asks not from the top. They just slide back and then slide on again.
It actually worked
I think it will show error on dash..
Before and after would be great

I turned the front full LED
These are the worst headlights I've had to change. Took me ages to get the position right.
