Part 3 of our red dot pistol series with Modern Samurai Project (Scott Jedlinski). In this part Scott focuses on body mechanics, not so much a red dot specific topic, but a critical one for shooters of both pistol red dot and iron sight pistols. Check out the class schedule for Modern Samurai Project, they've got a ton of class scheduled.
What is the 1911 Syndicate? We do a few things. We started out as a real estate company primarily targeted at serving the military/LE/shooting/hunting communities. Consider it our "day job" and we can serve you pretty much anywhere in the USA. Next we're a content producer. We kind of fell into it semi by accident, and here we are today. We try to do things a little different and have some fun. Thanks for tuning in.

Not sure what kind of contract you signed with the Devil to get MSP to let you record this, but I’ve watched the sighting in video, the find the dot video, and this one and they are all exceptionally well done. Excellent material (of course), but also excellent sound and video quality.
Thank you.
Haha we just asked nicely
1911 out here helping the poors. Amazing content.
Jake is a ginger of the people
I literally feel like I’m stealing by watching this.
O@@IrradiatedLimes
Jedi droppin’ knowledge in front of a damn jungle gym….
Lol
I just realized that about halfway through
This man makes wayyyy too much sense! Thanks MSP and 1911 Syn. From those of use that can’t take these classes we thank you!
🇺🇸 Why can’t you take the class?
@@mrfrm1975aside from the classes sell out, you need ammo, transportation, lodging, and the price of the class itself is easily over a grand to 2 grand if you need to travel
@@henryliu1046 - so, money. You don’t want to spend money, is that right? So, you can take it, but you don’t want to spend the money. I see.
@@mrfrm1975Good job on making yourself look like a clown. no, I dont care about spending money, I'm an MSP Alumni. I drove 10 hours to take his class in Iowa this year, some guys drove from florida. My trip total for ammo, food, lodging, class payment, gas, etc came out to over 1.4k. Not everyone has the flexibility to take classes when they want to and I was fortunate to take mine. I recommend you go to one if you haven't already. There are people who take it multiple times, still learning and improving everytime they come. I know I want to attend another when I come back from overseas.
LOVE this series. I need to go take this course.
Real knowledge and skill craft probably the top 3 instructors out there right now
"Like a dolphin in mayonnaise" 😂
This was really informative. Thank you, sir!!
I wish more instructions would go into the "why" of how we do things. My office's firearms trainer just spits out the mantra and dogmatic elbows lock hunched over tactical turtle stances without being open to do things differently, and can't explain like Jedi the "why" of the way he does things.
If they can explain why, they're a teacher. If they can't, they're an instructor.
Obviously an outstanding instructor. Present, prep, pinkie, press!
Love this series man, please post more of this.
This guy blows my mind. Even if the drive is long gonna take a class with this guy.
I just took a course with a former international IPSC competitor - exact same info on body mechanics and red dot sight picture . I’ve done all this since starting shooting but seek instruction only from those who can prove very high object metrics in their own shooting ability - Doing it right ! Carry on Scott
You guys are killing it with these vids with S.J. The camera work is great but it's the true verbal since of these thats kicking ass. AIM FOR KNOWLEDGE is key I say.
Fantastic information. Had to demonstrate the “push the hand” thing to my wife, who then had to show our kids. Eye opening!
WOw ..you got me when you said "i've had those Magpull video too!!!" .. neat content Sir .. thank you from italy
Dude is An amazing instructor!
The grip technique completely changed my mind on my technique.
I have to change my stance now after watching this. Thats so amazing and ive never heard of it great video 🤘
This is the way
Blows my mind how people will still argue against red dots on pistols
Makes no sense man
@@Chrisblau casuals 🤦🏻
@@user-uq1kk4mh2n I mean the best units in the military and law enforcement use them there is no argument against it anymore.
The poors have to justify their iron sights somehow.
@@CaptainCreampie69 if u cant afford it, thats a little different. Its the people that say “wElL yoUr PRoBaBabLy nOt eVEn gOnNa uSe YoUr sIgHts aNyWay iF u hAve tO sHooT SomEoNe”
Learn something new every time I watch this guy. Thanks for sharing the great info!
Thanks for watching dude 👊🏻
Best series of vids yet......so valuable.
This makes it make sense. I'm apprehensive about using the one pistol I own that has a red dot on it as I'm so accustomed to shooting irons.
Did that red dot jump on your gun all by itself?
Came back for a refresh
this series of videos was stellar content
Damn excellent instructor jake , please do more vids like this and thank you
Gotta take one of this guy's classes.
Very good information 👍🏻
Sorry I'm late, damn he helped me! Thank you!
Instinctive, or point shooting isn’t something that a recreational shooter, like myself, can pickup in a weekend, or in my case even a year, but I’m getting close and I still work for a living.
Locking on to the center of the center of the center of your target is the key, and being able to do that in an instant is a formidable challenge. The center of a beach ball is the same size as the center of an aspirin; aim small, miss small!
The brain knows where to move your hand/s in the same way that it knows where to move your hands across the keyboard of a piano. All that’s required is a great deal of practice and the ability to clear your mind and use the “force”.
Good video and good instructions. Don't forget the prone position when you're in the real world.. It's saved my bacon more than once in 61 years. Survival is instinctual and spontaneous. Marksmanship is just one important piece of the puzzle. 😎👌
Great educating video..!!!
👍🤙💪😎❤️
Very interesting video, thanks for sharing. Do you also have the part where Jed talks about his grip?
Thanks for the vid guys. It's giving me confidence to not trash my RMR.
Man, I really wanna take a class with Jedlinski and Brian Hill, but Hill's range is getting jacked up by some local bullcrap, which is gonna jack me up on taking a MSP class.
Everytime I watchhis videos I learn something new
Jake even though you have no soul, you have a big heart. This is great info.
Hopefully not over sized
Aloha from Honolulu. Really wanting to get to the States so I can travel to training easier.
Love this series 👍👍
Thanks dude 👊🏻
Great video!! Definitely learned a few things watching this one!!
I need to train with this man.
Man this is gold!
Great series!
Great video series! Thank you!
This guy is the truth
Structure versus strength. Ive never had it explained.
Amazing content thanks as always!
Wow. I’d love to train with this guy.
i need to take a course from this guy
Great content. Very good tutorial.
Good stuff
Destroying Rob Pincus one class at a time.
Great content.
🇺🇸 Tad of hydrolic lock there at the end. Great video.
It’s what happens when we show raw footage and don’t worry about looking cool
Jedi is such a .... Jedi.
I was mad when the video ended lol
Great information. 👍
Thanks for the support dude 👊🏻
Can you do this method using iron sites?
Good content. But what happened to the focus on the video?
So you wouldn't say that when shooting from retention, you are point shooting?
Looks like Jake's wearing beyond clothing A9's. What's your feedback on those?
They’ve been good
@@1911syndicate I concur. I like them more than most.
In the previous episode for this class it ended with him talking about your thumbs over extended, im a lefty as well and im wondering what he meant as mine go left like yours and after alot of time i know its not my trigger press, would love to know what he was mentioning to you.
It was a section on grip. Realistically I don’t know that the grip section will get edited
@@1911syndicate thatll be a bummer, theres rarely any videos critiquing lefties. Totally understand though, appreciate all the helpful information though
Wish the students would have given some feedback if they ended up liking the arms bent or locked out.
Bent. Always bent
@@1911syndicate thank you, was practicing some drive fire at home, definitely more of a vice feel.
Left handed of the devil… Jake’s definitely going to hell 😂😂😂
Dude you Rock!! Looking like you’re in prison or something “priceless” I’m a new shooter about a year now but I stay at the range, thanks for the breakdown of anything the why and how! I’m cross eye dominant left eye right handed not because someone told me so I figured it out red dots 🔴 are the truth. They will also make you a better iron sights shooter.
Useing instinct , which is dude’s 🧀 cheese , and that would be why it bothers him because instinct isn’t able to be packaged and sold (don’t get me wrong please) I love this dude SKILLS HE IS TEACHING ARE NEXT LEVEL . (Instinct or point shooting)
I want to pay for taking his class ( I WISH) maybe one day…..
So weaver stance is best?
Weaver is trash
So should the arms have a slight bend or be locked out, according to the instructor?
Slightly bent, I naturally adopted this and it works better for me, extend to locked elbows then bring it back about a half inch to one inch, you'll be surprised how much more control you have over recoil and sight tracking because your grip is much easier to put more strength into it.
Slight bend
The way Knockoutlights described it to his classes, you want your body to absorb the recoil not your arms and shoulders, so slightly bent elbows allows for your body to absorb the recoil kind of like a shock on a car.
Is that a Holosun on a Stacatto?
Holosun on a Combat Precision 2011
We’re in idaho?
Blackfoot
That’s like a couple hrs from we’re I live! lol pretty cool
First range I've seen with a trampoline, pool, and jungle gym.....lol
Lol
I've always said the same thing to whoever preaches isosceles stance. Try that in a disciple that requires a lot of forward and backward balance like wrestling. You're going to have a bad time.
Anyone else get the video recommendation from Risky Chrisky?
🤘🏼
Yikes, Jake. That was a dirty flinch at 13:16....
It's ok, sometimes I short stroke too, just not on triggers.
What pistol were you shooting, if you don't mind me asking?
Combat precision
Carry Trainer shows you can control recoil standing on one leg. The explanation of recoil moving north to south therefore you want to stand staggered to control recoil just isn't true. Your grip controls recoil in a handgun. I agree about standing staggered but that is for the ability to be able to get off the mark. Although I don't agree with the whole stance and controlling recoil thing, I do appreciate the video.
Mickey can definitely shoot. Ask him how he would rather stand when doing a fast Bill drill though.
You absolutely can control recoil standing on one leg. But physics explains why two legs control it better. And widening the base to two planes by staggering the legs controls it even more completely.
@@customperforman I'm sure you've seen someone standing on two legs, damn near take their head off from recoil because they couldn't control their grip... yes you can mitigate recoil a bit further with a staggered stance but stance isn't the reason for great recoil mitigation. Staggered stance is mostly for being able to get off the mark and move during a self defense situation.
WW I
Most people like him think it was first used in WW II
I just realized something...shooting range and in the background...childrens playground lol
Tells everyone not to do isosceles and then shows another demonstration how your base foot is stronger in isosceles…. Some good points but more like a bunch of fancy words trying to come off as an intellectual.
I don't know his background. Ex-US military? No? Yes? Even if we DO train ourselves to use a red dot...in a real gunfight how important is it for us to be able to hit our attacker between the eyes? Or what are the chances of that happening? Or place 2 on his left chest. The goal is simply to get one or two shots somewhere on his chest or head. He should drop. Or his knees or somewhere near his knees...should still drop the attacker.
Add we can usually only take care of one attacker at a time...So what if we can see the other two on either side of him...If they're armed we're toast...more so if we don't have cover that can stop some rounds..
Red-dots are gimmick's . If we didn't sneed them before they came to market. ..And what if the battery fails on the red-dot at the wrong time?
@ Anderson C
You still run irons only on rifles? Advancements have been made, so it’s not necessary 100% but for many it provides a good amount of improvement. Do some more research, do what works best for you. Seriously doubt you watch a bat as you swing it or the golf club. That’s the idea of being threat focused with a red dot. Multiple targets or one target, get off the X, stack multiple attackers.
I’m genuinely trying to figure out if you’re trolling with that comment or if it’s your real opinion
@@1911syndicate I wouldn't be surprised if this was his real opinion. People who have guns automatically assume they are a master "gunfighter" when they haven't even been in a situation where it only escalated to harsh words and hurt feelings. 🙄
Red dots are certainly not gimmicks. Our eye trains to red dots much easier than irons, whether they’re tritium or fiber optic. In a practical gunfight, a red dot will be much easier to catch with the eye. In the past, it has been point shooting in a gun fight, but with the dot, you can much easier see your target AND your sight, especially with something like the Holosun/Primary arms ACSS colab. on their HS507CV2. In a stressful situation, if there’s even the opportunity to take a moment to get the target in the sight, it is easier with a red dot. Generally, modern red dots have a battery life of at least a year. Some like the Aimpoint acro should replaced probably once a month if you leave it on, but generally RMRs, TRO’s, Holosuns, etc. will last a long time without worrying about battery life. A man knows the limits of his equipment and a man, taking on the responsibility of carrying every day, also keeps in mind the battery life of their optics on their carry everyday firearm, just as they do knowing a round is in the chamber or how many rounds are in their firearm when they go out the door. If you’ve never shot with a red dot on a pistol, you are seriously handicapping your potential in terms of capability and accuracy, as well as tracking your recoil/response while shooting.
Is this a troll comment? There is no way this your way of thinking? Dudes in the highest levels of the military and law enforcement use red dots on hand guns your telling me they are wrong?
