People, coworkers especially, seem pretty surprised when I pull out this little smol boi 😅 I absolutely love it though, the SE is a total sleeper. Unless it is the same part number, it isn't, and it would be insane to think that Apple would keep the exact same sensor when sensitivity of these is ever increasing and price is decreasing. Of course they don't.

So for your last point there- I didn't mean to be condescending, very sorry if it came across that way. That's why I tried to emphasize the second group of people that 'don't care' not in a bad way, but more as in they don't need the newer style or even prefer the home button. Nothing wrong with that. I agree extreme low light situations are not necessarily indicative of the overall low-light experience; however it is an easy way to show how night-mode works and how the 11 does things better in that regard. From other photos I've taken not included here I was consistently finding the 11 was better lit and more detailed than the SE, which typically tended to soften things to the extreme to try to hide the noise- that picture I took of the balcony light is a good example, as the shadows around the light look much worse on the SE than the 11. Even so, I tried to emphasize the SE wasn't bad at all and really impressive considering the hardware. Not a bad phone, just one I think is overpriced for the overall package compared to the 11 or better.
Agreed, I consider myself a tech enthusiast and chose the second generation se when it was out for a few months because it’s simple, cheap, light and SO pocketable. It does everything I need a phone to do and I plan on keeping it for a very long time, changing the battery when I need to. I don’t want to upgrade for the sake of upgrading, being a tech enthusiast does not neccesarily mean you need to have the latest and greatest tech.
I got my iPhone 11 in March 2021 I upgraded from 7 Plus and I definitely do not plan on upgrading for at least another 2yrs or when it stops working completely / getting updates I love this phone 💯
5G is worthless, especially on the SE which doesn’t even support the 5G flavor that’s worth bragging rights and the A15 is not going to produce anything noticeable in your day to day.
My grandfather has the SE 2 and he loves it, plus I reckon these SEs are going to be dirt cheap on the used market in a few years, just like the 2016 one is now.
I love my iPhone 11. Bought it when it was the newest iPhone on the market and even if the iPhone 14 is out I don't feel like I need to upgrade anytime soon. Still sitting on iOS 14.7.1 while being jailbroken with a hell of a good tweak support, getting all the cool new features from iOS 15 and 16. iOS 14 is just awesome with the huge tweak support, that still sadly lacks in 15 and 16 as far as I heard about it. And anything else works still very fast and without any problems. The LCD display doesn't bother me much, since I am not used to OLED screens beside my PSVita. Best thing is that I can still easily repair it myself without any problems like FaceID not working or whatsoever. Holding as long as I can onto it :)
I really love my SE2022 since I am not a heavy user the battery isn’t my concern. A15 is superb and its camera is amazing. Small screen is a bit disappointed at first, but my eyes get along with it after few days.
Still rocking with my iphone 8. It runs everything what i need smoothly and i just love this design, touch id is the thing imo 😃 changed battery to it and i can’t be more happier. Cost me 130€ year ago so i think price/value is good with this one 👍
Just got my iPhone 11 last March, comparing with SE 2022 back then, ugh tough choice. But I guess newer processor alone cannot outshine iPhone 11. So far, happy with iPhone 11!
Long story short I had an iPhone SE 2 and enjoyed it. I then had the opportunity to get an 11 for next to nothing and so obviously I switched and it’s night and day. Everything I loved about the SE was infinitely better when I transferred over to the 11. The 11 is more or less the same as using an iPhone 13. Sure there are some quality of life improvements and obviously the screen is the major factor, but by and large I’d say 90 percent of the experience is identical. Not even close to true with an SE. Way too many compromises to me.
The iPhone SE 2/3, 11 and even Xr are still very important for us 10% who can’t use OLED due to PWM. Must admit I’m watching this on my 8 Plus, which I’ll keep another year or two.
The iPhone SE 3 was never actually meant to be compared head to head with the other iPhones. It is mainly used to lure in more customers from developing markets such as India. Already the iPhone SE 2 has made record sales last year (in India).
That's mostly because iPhones are ridiculously expensive in india The 11 costs $670 in 2022 in india The se 3 costs $580 (As did the se 2 when it launched) The 13 mini $950 and the 13 pro $1700 People try to get the cheapest one even if it's not cheap at all I ve been recommending people to get the XR over the se if they want a starter iPhone
7:50 Wow! That’s crazy your grandpa still has a 5S. Props to him for making it last. I know it probably pains you knowing there’s so many better options out there for him. I would argue saying the 11 is a great upgrade for him. Simply for the bigger and brighter screen. Plus better battery.
@@shadow_tagz1116 I plan on getting the 14 pro when it comes out, but will definitely be keeping the 11 pro as a backup in case anything happens. It’s a great phone.
I need a backup phone. I still have my old 12 pro max as my primary phone, so I’ll go for the se3. My biggest problem form upgrading from the iPhone 8 was the lack of Touch ID. So the se fixes this hole while the 11 is just a watered down version of the phone I already have.
I'm planning to try iPhone for the first time, Im young, im using Samsung galaxy device from the upper mid-segment, I'm using gestures and all modern features but somehow I'm so attracted by that SE old design and I find myself that I would be more happy to have SE than moder iphone.
I just upgraded from the 7 to 11 I had the choice between the 11 and se 3 but I chose the 11 it’s bigger better camera and just nicer super happy with my choice!
@@itssbba9627 ahh ok cause I have a the se 2020 and the battery is barley lasting me 5 hours. The other day I charged it to 47 and a hour later it was on 10% from music playing...
Thanks for the great review! I have mixed feelings here regarding the iPhone SE3. I like it because of its iconic design, the fact that it's (probably) the last iPhone with the Home button, and it just has that retro feeling that we'll be missing in a few years. And oh, yeah, it's a powerhouse with that A15 chip. Major drawbacks are the battery life, no Night Mode, and the price. I'm thinking of getting one just to have it in my private collection as the last and strongest "iPhone 6" since that's the original design that remained with us for so many years.
@L. G. Yeah, I agree. But that’s because iPhone 6 was the most popular iPhone (iPhone with most sales), and then we had iPhone 6S, 7, and then 8. So this design is definitely an iconic one. And now that it’s retro will be missed definitely.
added an SE 3 to my collection today, so far am enjoying using it. the nostalgia of the older phones is unreal. makes me miss my 2020 SE that i shouldn’t have traded.
Im still torn between SE3 and iphone 11, so many recommended iphone 11 but my colleague who is using it since launch date advice against it due to the battery life.
That's because they've used the device since launch, and has degraded the battery over time through use. The iPhone 11 has the larger battery overall, and if you get the iPhone 11 brand new from Apple, it will last longer compared to the SE3.
@@Tristanator I also don't know which one to buy like do I want the better battery life and bigger screen with 11 or longer software support with the se3 bru it's so hard to pick one.
I love my second gen SE that ive used for the past two years. But I do want more screen real-estate and also want to experience the 120hz refresh rate. So I will wait and see what the new 14 pro is like!
I had a 13 pro and while the high refresh rate is nice, it unfortunately makes all of your other devices that don't have it feel awful as your eyes get trained to expect 120 hz so 60 hz feels extremely slow. When I realized this was happening, I disabled it.
@@neilsaeroadventures1116 understandable! Thats i how feel with my computer at home. All three monitors are over 120hz so when i use my 60hz monitor at work, it feels so sluggish
my wife and i now have an SE 2022 and we are happy AF and the camera is something we just dont care as long as it can take photos and scan QR codes in restaurants, thats all we need LOL, we play mobile games like genshin/honkai, ragnarok, anime games etc, and we are very pleased with the A15 chip and glad that we can use Big monitors and controllers to play while using the phone while watching a bigger monitor eheheehe
I am a user of Apple and its ecosystem. The iPhone SE 3 is not for me, because I am a publicist and the iPhone 13 Pro Max is an excellent work tool for me, but since the iPhone SE has its users or fans, of course it does. I have also heard that it is selling very well. My 3 teenage sons each have an iPhone 11 and didn't want to upgrade this year because they're too comfortable with the iPhone 11. They don't like the iPhone SE because of its size. The iPhone SE is for people who like to have a very small device.
As a first time Apple user, I bought the SE3 as I could not get my head around the £250 price difference. Gonna upgrade to that red mini when the price drops after the release of the 15.
I got mine for my birthday in March 2023. I got it with a carrier deal. I got the iPhone 11 black color 64 GB four gigs of RAM for free when I switched over to metro by T-Mobile appreciate the deal is already over but I only paid $117 in taxes and fees and the device was free.
iPhone SE for the better chip, better modem, 5G, better glass and the more compact design. iPhone 11 for the bigger screen, Face ID, Ultra Wide camera and battery life.
Hey Josh, how u doin'? My 1st comment here but imma subscriber since forever. This video helps me a lot with my decision of change my VERY old 6s into a iPhone 11. Love ur work, please never consider quit YT because you r one of the best in the platform. Huge hug from BR.
The night mode thing is so weird to me. I bet Apple could have implemented it if they wanted to, but wanted to segment the market and make people shell out more for the feature
The night mode uses the dual camera setup in conjunction with the software to achieve the results so no they really can’t implement it on the SE. At least not in any way that would be acceptable. Furthermore the software is designed around the newer sensor in the 11 and beyond and the SE is still using an older sensor so again that adds a significant issue. Same thing happened with Google. They had developed all their AI around that one Sony IMX sensor which is why all pixel phones until the recent pixel 6 contained the exact same camera setup.
I think people take these features for granted and don’t realize how difficult, and impressive it is. They think it should so easily be shoved into whatever Apple or whomever wishes and it simply doesn’t work that way.
I still have the 2017 SE. Looking at the 2022 SE. Each year it seems like "they" have turned down the dial on cell reception. Just updated to 15.7 whatever and now it "appears" that I have at best one bar reception at home, which works out to NO reception at home. Even using WiFi. Maybe I'm just cynical. When I first got my SE in 2017 I consistently had three to four bars and never dropped a call. Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon? I use my phone as a phone, not a gaming console, a pro camera/ wide screen tv. I like that even in an Otter Box case it still fits in my shirt pocket. Given the popularity of this small, high quality phone I don't think I'm alone out here. If reception stayed up and I had a new battery I wouldn't be buying a new phone now. Obviously lots of people want a big screen and all the bells and whistles so it's great that they make the high end phones. The 2022 SE fits my bill ( in more ways than one ) Great review, love the channel
was hesitating between iPhone 11 and SE , chose the SE 3 because of Smart HDR 4, A15 and 5G but sometimes i'm thinking, if i would have choosen the 11 i would have a better screen, night mode, better front camera, but a 3 years old phone, no 5g and a less powerful chip
@@ChuksOlisama In fact, I've just bought the 11 -- sold my SE to a family member for an incredible price. What I said was true, except: - I got 5G just... one time ( In Paris and my battery literally DIED ) -- so I don't care ( yet ) - Smart HDR 2 ( on 11 series ) is as good as SH4 - A13 is still powerful and as snappy as A15 on my SE The screen is effectively better, so is the front camera, design, battery, unlocking technology, etc... Guys, take an 11 if you're hesitating, yes it's 3 years old, but for me, I couldn't stand the 4.7' screen and the old design anymore. (Note : I was coming from an X, never could get used to the SE in fact )

This video was great! I was planning on getting my girlfriend the iPhone 11 and I think I made my decision! She doesn’t want any iPhone newer then the 11 so this is perfect! Thank you bro!
To be completely honest, I am perfectly more than OK with the LTE of the iPhone 11 I think it’s one of the faster LTE connection to get for any flagship device plus Wi-Fi six and the years of support still left blows any mid range android found out of the water, considering the fact that it is around $400 an hour and the fact that I got this phone for free through metro back in March it’s a plus… I’m pretty sure LTE will still be supported in till 2030 maybe a few years after 2030
Great video like how you showed both sides for these phones I love my SE 2 and still plan on getting the 3 but I really like this channel and had been following it for quite some time your videos are very interesting keep up the good work
It's rather devious of you to use Cola as a reason to not skip the sponsor message. I too have a Dachshund and just can't resist their overload of cuteness. Great job.
I really wish they'd make a se+ or something in the iPhone 8+ body because I would scoop that up in a heartbeat. I don't think Apple wanted to cannibalize the rest of the iPhone lineup though. I can see why they didn't but it's definitely needed. I guess I'm getting the 14 pro max when it comes out. I really hate the notch.
I have the se2 atm and looking into an upgrade that’ll last me until microled iPhones become a thing, since we don’t know how long that’ll take I think I’ll get the SE3 for longevity sake . Nice comparison though! Really made me consider the 11
I used an se2 up until recently and would have kept it much longer if I hadn't destroyed the camera by mounting it to my Motorcycle.. probably would have gotten another or a 3 but I was offered a 13 pro for about the same price. Definitely miss the smaller form factor though.. hell I'd still use my gen1 SE if I could!
I feel like the iPhone XR/11 will eventually become the new iPhone SE in the near future. If not the iPhone XR/11 then the iPhone 12/13 mini will be the new iPhone SE design
Excellent detailed review! I'm looking into replacing my iPhone 7, which seems to have reached the end of regular updates on ios 15.8, which got released in October 2023. All through 2023 I was getting updates nearly every month.
I got the se 2nd gen in october 2023. Everything below the xs doesnt get updates anymore. Xs, 11, se 2020, 12 series, se 2023 and ofc the 13-15 series do get updates and will for 3+ more years (besides the xs)
Ironically as a first time Apple user, I bought the SE3 as I could not get my head around the £250 price difference. Gonna upgrade to that red mini when the price drops after the release of the 15 (cos that color is sick).
I’m a first time Apple user. I’ve owned a couple cheap $50 Alcatels from Walmart, 2 Galaxy J7s (2017 models), the S8, S9, and I switched from an S10+. When I switched in March to the iPhone 12 I loved it, the cameras are better, I got 120Hz refresh rate, multitasking is smoother & everything is quicker despite the S10+ having an extra 4GB of RAM. But better battery life is much to be desired. My girl has an iPhone 11 & my battery life hasn’t been as good as hers even fresh out of the box. I’ve turned off the 5g & that still hasn’t changed anything. Automatic brightness is turned on but I usually keep it low anyway unless I’m outside. Bluetooth is completely turned off when I ain’t using it. A friend of mine said he had the 12 & was having the same issues but when he got the 12 Pro Max it was way better. I feel like it’s upgrade time already. Is there any known problems with the 12 I should’ve looked out for?
I have the iPhone 12 mini. I love it. I'm so glad I made the right choice for my first iPhone. Since I use both ecosystems and I didn't need the highest possible end iPhone. since I use the Samsung s20 ultra. As my daily driver and while it's not the latest and greatest phone. In some aspects it's better than the new phones from Samsung. I was going to go with the 2020 se as my first iPhone and actually my sister talked me out of getting it. For once I'm so happy she did. (Though I was super pissed at the time). 🤣
Airpods 2 in 2022 I’m bout to buy some on apr 16 cause it’s my birthday and I’m seeing if there worth the 99$ price and you are a person who knows best
Nah, the se 3 is the better phone but that’s only if you are gonna buy new instead of used. Because you can get a used iPhone 12 or 12 mini for around the same price or less than a brand new iPhone 11 from apple.
Nice video man ! I’m owner of iphone 11, and it’s not bad phone but it’s not great either. Face id not working properly at the times… If you want new phone just skip 11.
I purchased an iPhone SE third generation for $129 versus one and 11 would cost a 399 so I’ve decided to go with the third generation SE because I don’t really think I need all the gizmos I do like the bigger screen on the 11 however that much money difference I’ll except the OC
I have iPhone 7 (my first Apple phone) and I’m starting to look for replacement, unfortunately I don’t know which of the new iPhones to buy…I’m thinking about 12 or 13 mini since they’re small, but I still don’t know…
The mini series are slightly bigger than a iphone 5/se 2016. So keep that in mind. I would go for the regular 13 when buying off apple since you get 128gb standard while on the 13 base is still 64 gb.
Got an se 2 in october 2023 had it 4 months but i want the 13 pro. The 120 hz and oled display sells me i would say 14 but i dont really like how dynamic island looks
Honestly it depends on your personal needs and stuff. I prefer an iPhone 6S on IOS 12. It's just perfect for me. Even if the home button doesn't work that's ok.

Holding as long as I can onto it :)
traded my 12 mini for an SE 3 today, couldn’t be happier. Like having the home button back and a pocketable size but with a readable screen
Exactly same. iOS just feels crushed in the 12/13 mini.
Yup,I did the same.
@@KazeHorse that’s what my main problem was. Just feels cramped
iPhone 12 mini has a more pocketable size and larger readable screen
The 12 mini is every bit as pocketable as it is smaller than the SE 3 in overall size.
That’s great enjoy your iphone

Went from an iPhone X to a 13 pro mainly because of the 120 htz, battery, and camera, but I really miss the form factor of the X
@@bernielomax4702night & day is right on the money 😊
The way you made the sponsorship entertaining 😭
The iPhone SE 2/3, 11 and even Xr are still very important for us 10% who can’t use OLED due to PWM.
Must admit I’m watching this on my 8 Plus, which I’ll keep another year or two.
Do you still have your 8 Plus?
The iPhone SE 3 was never actually meant to be compared head to head with the other iPhones. It is mainly used to lure in more customers from developing markets such as India. Already the iPhone SE 2 has made record sales last year (in India).
Kills in Japan too. SE3 is ripping sales over there building on the SE2 success.
Reaaaallly
That's mostly because iPhones are ridiculously expensive in india
The 11 costs $670 in 2022 in india
The se 3 costs $580
(As did the se 2 when it launched)
The 13 mini $950 and the 13 pro $1700
People try to get the cheapest one even if it's not cheap at all
I ve been recommending people to get the XR over the se if they want a starter iPhone
@@Phoenix-King-ozai yah that is because of tax right?
7:50 Wow! That’s crazy your grandpa still has a 5S. Props to him for making it last. I know it probably pains you knowing there’s so many better options out there for him. I would argue saying the 11 is a great upgrade for him. Simply for the bigger and brighter screen. Plus better battery.
Your reviews are cool and very down to earth. Subscribing was one of the best decisions I've made.
Thank you, really appreciate that!
Still using my 11 pro from the launch window. Besides battery health, still a champ!
I bet getting it replaced will make it seem brand new! The 11 pro is a fantastic device
They should keep this when the se 4 comes out and take down the price to 329-359 and dub it the “se classic” and alongside the se 4 at 429.
I'm planning to try iPhone for the first time, Im young, im using Samsung galaxy device from the upper mid-segment, I'm using gestures and all modern features but somehow I'm so attracted by that SE old design and I find myself that I would be more happy to have SE than moder iphone.
I think the diverse the iPhone line ever was was the period from 2017-2018 when we had the X down to the original SE, tbh
I just upgraded from the 7 to 11 I had the choice between the 11 and se 3 but I chose the 11 it’s bigger better camera and just nicer super happy with my choice!

It’s more like the iPhone 8 or even 7 than the 6. Only thing about the 6 that’s the same is the screen size
added an SE 3 to my collection today, so far am enjoying using it. the nostalgia of the older phones is unreal. makes me miss my 2020 SE that i shouldn’t have traded.
I have the newest se, and I have nightmode
Going to do the same thing haha, i think of it now as the definitive iPhone 6 with that retro design and the last home button iPhone
I just got rid of my iphone 11 for an se 3 , i suffer from chronic pain and i find it alot better holding the se than the much heavier iphone 11
Iphone SE 3 in my opinion, it has similar battery to iphone 11 and will get support for much longer
It does not have similar battery
Im still torn between SE3 and iphone 11, so many recommended iphone 11 but my colleague who is using it since launch date advice against it due to the battery life.
That's because they've used the device since launch, and has degraded the battery over time through use. The iPhone 11 has the larger battery overall, and if you get the iPhone 11 brand new from Apple, it will last longer compared to the SE3.
@@Tristanator I also don't know which one to buy like do I want the better battery life and bigger screen with 11 or longer software support with the se3 bru it's so hard to pick one.

I had a 13 pro and while the high refresh rate is nice, it unfortunately makes all of your other devices that don't have it feel awful as your eyes get trained to expect 120 hz so 60 hz feels extremely slow. When I realized this was happening, I disabled it.

13mini is smaller than se . It’s more like for down bad people
@@poggers1568 nah it’s for people who’d rather have a home button
As a first time Apple user, I bought the SE3 as I could not get my head around the £250 price difference. Gonna upgrade to that red mini when the price drops after the release of the 15.
I think older people would prefer the bigger screen of the 11
You have no idea how much I waited for this comparison.
I got mine for my birthday in March 2023. I got it with a carrier deal. I got the iPhone 11 black color 64 GB four gigs of RAM for free when I switched over to metro by T-Mobile appreciate the deal is already over but I only paid $117 in taxes and fees and the device was free.
If we criticize big bezels, let’s not forget to praise them: the bezels spare us that hideous, asymmetrical “modern” notch.
iPhone SE for the better chip, better modem, 5G, better glass and the more compact design.
iPhone 11 for the bigger screen, Face ID, Ultra Wide camera and battery life.
Asking for my mom. Does it make sense to upgrade from iPhone SE 2020 to iPhone 11?
I wish they made an IPhone SE 3 Plus in order to allow for bigger battery life and more thermal heat sinks
I want the iPhone se cuz the home button is nice

This video helps me a lot with my decision of change my VERY old 6s into a iPhone 11. Love ur work, please never consider quit YT because you r one of the best in the platform. Huge hug from BR.
the iphone 11 is better in almost every way but the processor
They think it should so easily be shoved into whatever Apple or whomever wishes and it simply doesn’t work that way.
get neuralcam for se
@@bernielomax4702 The SE has night mode time lapse, so it's not completely incapable.
The 2022 SE fits my bill ( in more ways than one )
Great review, love the channel
It's very possible. In some areas older cell networks get taken down to be replaced with new 5G or 4G networks which older devices may not support.
was hesitating between iPhone 11 and SE , chose the SE 3 because of Smart HDR 4, A15 and 5G
but sometimes i'm thinking, if i would have choosen the 11 i would have a better screen, night mode, better front camera, but a 3 years old phone, no 5g and a less powerful chip
You just described my thoughts Lol
@@ChuksOlisama In fact, I've just bought the 11 -- sold my SE to a family member for an incredible price.
What I said was true, except:
- I got 5G just... one time ( In Paris and my battery literally DIED ) -- so I don't care ( yet )
- Smart HDR 2 ( on 11 series ) is as good as SH4
- A13 is still powerful and as snappy as A15 on my SE
The screen is effectively better, so is the front camera, design, battery, unlocking technology, etc...
Guys, take an 11 if you're hesitating, yes it's 3 years old, but for me, I couldn't stand the 4.7' screen and the old design anymore.

I do say that the home button feels more satisfying than the swipe system, and I use a bezeless iPhone. Although that’s not a reason to buy the SE
