I'm 40 obtaining a geology degree from a top university in California. Would I be eligible with no work experience, other than restaurants in my youth, when I graduate in 2 years?
Good morning. I just want to ask if the legacy 457 visa age exemption for PR is still available? I am turning 58 years old now but my employer is willing to sponsir me for PR. I work here in Australia since may 2015 up to present under 457 and now holding 482 visa. Can i still apply for PR?
@nextstepimmigration Can you assist us with our assessment? We've received the outcome and there are some things that have to be changed and cleared. We have less than 90 days
Hi ,is it really true that indians are ban to get student visa. My spouse(24) have 4years experience in digital marketing and am planning to pursue m.tech .
I have been employed as a Resident Medical Officer at an Australian government hospital since June 2023, holding a Subclass 482 visa. As I approach the age of 45 in April 2025, I am seeking advice on my options for obtaining Permanent Residency (PR) independently, without relying on sponsorship from my current employer. Thank you for your guidance.
You have a good chance with any of the PR visas due to the demand for your profession and years of work experience. You can explore the regional 491 visa
Hi I did cert 3 in carpentry ,I will get cert in dec 24 my visa will be expire in jun 25 subclass 500 age 39 rytnow I live in adl. which cert or diploma shud i take in next month n shud i change state or stay here and find job in carpentry casual 24 hours ,wht shud i do kindly rply for PR pathway which is gud for me.
Hi To claim for regional study point do we need to stay & study from day 1 of study?my study period was 2.3 years & I moved 1 month after my study started. Am I still eligible to claim 5 points?
Thanks for the info. So, if I am on 482 employer sponsored visa now and even if I am over 45 years of age after 2 years, I can get PR if the employer agrees to sponsor me for 186 employer sponsored PR visa. my age wont be an issue that will affect the PR application . Right? Thanks
You could ask you employer to apply for an age exemption for you and then still sponsor you under a Labour agreement for a 186 ENS. My employer did that for us, up to the age of 60. There are provisions for employers to negotiate some Labour streams to allow for age exemption. I have first hand experience.
If i am on 482 employer sponsored visa and if i am 41 years after two years can i get PR if employer agrees to sponser me for 186 PR visa? kindly reply
This is all going to change, this is the beginning of the changes which will be made so I wouldnt count on any of it. If the Government changes coming election there will be big changes , Dutton has already flagged big changes to student visas.
I am now 44 years old registered nurse and an employer has agreed to provide me 482 visa. The same employer has agreed on paper to sponsor me for PR (186 visa) after 12 months of working with the employer. But, after 12 months , I will be 45 years old. Will I get PR visa (186)?
Thank you for the visa-related update. Just for the sake of clarification, I want to ask a few things: a. If Australia is your Usual Country of Residence and you visit other countries like your home country, such as India or Pakistan or any other country for conference or holiday purposes, then will the addresses you stayed at in those countries come under "Address History" or not? To me, it looks like it should come under ONLY the "Travel History" but not under the "Address History" because even if someone visits and stays in another country for a month or two for a visit and not for study or work, it does not change your residential address. Please clarify if it should come under both or only one. b. During student life, some students change their addresses frequently. If they did not mention some of their addresses in previous visa applications, like 485, then mentioning those missing addresses in permanent visa applications will create any conflict or not if they are trying to be honest in mentioning addresses this time? c. If someone did not bother much about the exact dates when applying for a temporary visa but now considering carefully when applying for the PR visa, should they mention those previous dates or the exact new dates they recalled or got it from their timeline history? d. Before coming to Australia for the first time, your usual country of residence is your home country. Do you need to mention this travel in your last 10 years of travel history or not? If you need to mention it, then what should be the "To Date" in your travel history? Your responses to these clarifications are highly appreciated.
For your first question, you're absolutely correct. The visits should come under travel history and not address history since you weren't a resident in those countries. For the second question, mention the missing addresses in your PR application. Thirdly mention the previous dates and lastly, you do not need to state travel to your home country as travel history.
@nextstepimmigration Thank you for the answers. For the third question, if I mention the previous dates, then I cannot mention the missing addresses because previous dates are mentioned without gaps. Now, either I can mention the missing addresses with correct dates or mention previous dates without mentioning missing addresses. For the fourth, did you mean travel to home country or travel from home country? Please advise

This plan can be tricky as the 491 visa can take more than 2 months to process. We'll suggest applying for a visa with a very short processing time
Thank you fr reply.. which visa could best suit under my situation?
Thank you
