Great to hear about all the books you've been reading. I was watching whilst sitting on the sofa crocheting, with my cat (also a tabby) on my lap. After a while, she spotted Mia on the back of your sofa and seemed to be fascinated with her. She got up to be nearer the TV to watch her more carefully!

Thanks for all the book chat, Ali! I've been writing them down, as my book club and I have enjoyed many of your recommendations over the years! And I also like the feel of a page taped back into a book or notebook - we really need a word for that feeling once a book or notebook takes on that very satisfying, personalized used feeling... It's so good. On another note, when my daughters were teens, I found parenting books so helpful, too, and this isn't a recommendation - because I can't actually remember if it was one of the helpful books - but maybe you can relate to this title: "Get Out of My Life! But First, Can You Take Me and Cheryl to the Mall?" It made me laugh - and humour is such an amazing super power as a mother of teens 😅 along with self care - but also it made me realize I wasn't alone because someone out there had been having the same conversations with her daughter and survived to write the book! And it's so lovely to be reminded that we can get through the crazy hormone years (theirs and ours!) with those earlier relationships in tact - remember how sweet they were? 😅 - and there truly are much calmer seas ahead... I promise! Xo

It was interesting to hear you talk about the books you read. The genre of the books is so different from the books that read as I prefer to be able to relate to real life rather than imaginary life. 🇬🇧

I watched Heartstopper with my 11 year old on tv & we both loved everything about it! She’s just borrowed the first 2 books from school & friends & whizzed through them - then asked for the full set & new volume 5 for Christmas. I think I’ll give them a read too 👍🏻
I’ve just finished Life Saving for Beginners after seeing it on your channel & I loved it! I live just outside Brighton so it was all familiar locations & the characters felt like friends - would definitely recommend 🎉

Love it when we see the complete differences amongst our children. I always describe myself as a slow learner as pre-kids we had 2 golden retrievers that we couldn’t call to come with same tone of voice. Then when we had our second (boy then girl) I thought I more or less understood parenting the early years. Oh no, was I ever wrong! Definitely two different beings 😅 and how wonderful they are. Oddly enough both took psychology (one science the other arts) as their first degrees and then each went on to do a second degrees in education and are teaching elementary school. Thanks for the books catch up. 📚

Still being stoic, Ali. Hope you feel completely better by the time you finish the antibiotics. The uggh factor will be worth it in the end.
I am a crime aficianado, because it's a genre which actually encompasses absolutely everything, and the authors are so lovely! Am a member of a teeny book group ("Wine and Crime" - just me and my pals in the north of Scotland) and all the authors we have reached out to have been so generous, with book group discussion questions and other interactions. It has been truly heartwarming.
My group are regular attenders at "Bloody Scotland", the crime fiction festival held in Stirling here in Scotland, every year, some of us online and some of us in person, and it has been a great place to hear new authors and strike up relationships with them, which has been great for us, and I hope helpful for the authors too.
Good to hear you being critical as well as complimentary about what you have read - all part of the rich tapestry of reading.
(Lorraine Candy was a former editor in chief of Cosmopolitan - thought I recognised the name!)
    And - I can't believe Mia is around 15 - she doesn't look it. :)

Sorry you have been feeling unwell! Im glad you are feeling better, but antibiotics make me feel like rubbish for ages! Glad you've got onto the heart stopper hype - you are officially a book tuber now :P Also I love that you had to work out your age, Ive been telling people for ages im 32 and my husband pointed out im actually 33. Im currently listening to hex and the city I am loving it but every time they mention too many calories I roll my eyes. I wish I could get the feels everyone else is getting about legends and lattes I just thought it was slow ...

Lynn here on Hubby's phone mines playing up 😏, Hi Ali hope your feeling better 🤞, I've been wanting to read The Heart Stopper books , butt do you thing it's weird for me at 58 to be reading them ? I just wanted to educate myself at what young people face in the twenty first century, I grew up in the late sixties Manley seventies, where the world was such a different place, looking back I feel some of the people I went to school with would have been really struggling with life you know 🤔☹️, but I never realize until not long back , let's hope books like this can make life easier for people , because what they say is true ( you only live once ) 😊Take Care Love xx ❤

I read Sweetness at the Bottom o the Pie - seems to me it was geared toward a young adult audience so very uncool about the racist bit. Been a while since I read it, so I do not remember much about it, but will have to see whether it is repeated in the other books in the series.
